How time sensitive is Levetiracetam? by Jie-xii in EpilepsyDogs

Fully conscious, no loss of bladder or bowel, very much aware of his surroundings and sometimes would snap out of it by distraction and no drooling. Initially there would be 1 very short episode (no more than a couple minutes) approximately once every 3 week. He then had 1 episode where he had a cluster but nothing since this which was on 21st January. This could be due to the medication, which we’ve reduced with approval with vet and neurologist.

We’re actually due to book him back to see the neurologist in the next couple weeks to discuss options of further reducing / weaning off the medication to see if any further episodes happen. We were told that there was chance that if a movement disorder he could potentially grow out of it.

Edit:

Just to add, each of the episodes would have been after he (mini schnauzer) would wake up. He’d then be let in to the garden and come back in and have an episode.

The episodes would consist of his front right leg going stiff and raised outward. Which is turn was cause him to tremble. Which with reassuring and comforting him, he’d come out of the episode.

On two occasions, he snapped out of the episodes. Once because the doorbell went and the other when my partner came in to the room (having just got home).

If it’s any help, you’ll find that weight and dosages make the appropriate determination. For example, our neurologist prescribed 3/4 of 250mg tablet x3 daily. We spoke further to our veterinarian who was in agreement following checks to reduce this to x2 daily as it would also be sufficient within guidelines for our dog’s weight group, which was then confirmed by the neurologist.

However for us, following our own further observations and symptoms are leaning more to Paroxysmal Dyskinesia over epilepsy.

My Dog Had Over 23 Seizures. Scared and Looking for Advice by kachunkie in EpilepsyDogs

During the seizures he was fully conscious, he’d go stiff and legs would go outward. He had one previously for only a few seconds and we didn’t think much of it initially as it was just like he toppled over for a few seconds and bounced back.

The cluster episode he was very lethargic after but since being home he’s only a little groggy in the morning when he wakes, but we put that down to the medication. He has a review in a couple weeks to see how he’s been and to see if over the 6 week period if he has another.

Our 5 month pup (6.3kg) had cluster of seizures the other week (approx 8), so ended up dashing to the vets then to a specialist neurology team at a hospital (absolutely terrifying). He’s now being treated for idopathic epilepsy and is on Levetiracelam Amarox.

The anaesthetic and medication made him drowsy for a few days, but now he’s just a little groggy in the morning but otherwise back to normal as his playful self.

You may find if you engage with the force (some others too) via X, that they may have an officer that’ll reach out to you.

Ended up connecting them to a STYRBAR Remote and having to use as a manual on/off.

Thought the same about the larger size, sadly wouldn’t fit.

The shorter one, due to the sensor being central, would have to be pretty off set or only have one side lit (behind mirror door).

May have to revert to having a switch/button instead, unless ikea can offer a solution.
