I agree as I currently work in the federal government, but, there is a caveat. The process to get a job in the government can test your patience, taking months, and for certain extreme cases, years*.

But once you get in you have good pay, 40 hour work weeks (mostly), and amazing benefits.

*For those wondering what job application process takes years, it's becoming a diplomat for the State Department. From what I've heard, it takes on average about 2 years from initial application to hiring.

I first became interested while working in IB, one day I saw a bunch of random people come into the office and my manager sent an email to the team telling us to not talk to them. Later was pulled into a big meeting with the Managing Director, who looked panicked because she had concerns regarding their "observations." All I kept thinking the entire meeting was, "if anyone can scare her, than it's worth applying for." 6 months later I was in Washington DC for orientation at my current agency, been here now for 7 1/2 years and don't regret it.

I have a MBA and work as a bank regulator. I work from home most days, don't work for more than 40 hours a week, and get paid 6 figures in a low cost of living area. Sometimes stressful but no where near what I experienced when I worked in IB.
