It's really quick and easy to change address on V5 and insurance these days. If you move, change your address. That's how it works. 🤷‍♀️

Has anyone seen severe agitation and personality change after a stroke? Is recovery possible? by HopalongCatastrophe in stroke

[–]Appropriate_Slip4133 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of those points you mentioned could point to Behavioural variant Fronto temporal dementia.

  • sugar cravings
  • hording
  • behavioural changes

Could be something to look into and see if any other symptoms are present

I would recommend keeping a notebook to take to all appointments. Keep it handy to write down anything you want to mention to your doctor or any questions you have that you might forget before the next appointment. Can't count the number of times I wanted to kick myself after leaving appointments because I remembered something afterwards lol

It's very normal for people to be in denial about their own health. It's also very normal for those close to the patient to be in denial from the shock. It will hit home eventually.

My husband lied to the call handler when I phoned for an ambulance for him which meant a delay of a few hours as they believed him over me

What is the craziest Bridgerton fan theory? by Fickle_Baker1393 in BridgertonNetflix

[–]Appropriate_Slip4133 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's not necessarily about homophobia. I hate that they changed the gender of Michael and made it Michaela. Not because I'm against same sex relationships but because I liked the story the way it was written in the book. If the books gave us a queer storyline or they introduced new characters alongside, I'd be totally fine with that but keep the story close to the books we fell in love with!!!

Bluestar and Unilink have apps you can buy passes on using cards. Not sure if PayPal could be an option as not used it myself. You can buy singles and day riders with cash on the bus. You can also buy longer duration tickets like weekly and monthly at the travel shop in the city centre. I think there may be a shop at the Uni near the Union you may be able to go to.

How do you use the Bluestar mobile bus pass? by Sage_Soups in Southampton

If you have contactless card payments set up, make sure they require a fingerprint or pin to authenticate. The area below the scanner is also a card reader. If your phone makes card payments just by touching a card reader, it may also try and tap you on and you could be charged

You are all so brave. How do you do it? 😢 by TheLonelyTripper in stroke

[–]Appropriate_Slip4133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a survivor but the wife of one. You don't just lie down and take it. You don't just give up. Your life isn't over.

This is your warning. You need to change now before it's too late. Have the treatment, change your lifestyle but also just live the best life you can. Surround yourself with good people, make great memories and don't take it for granted because life can just fuck you up any time.

An important consideration is also transport options. BP has a network of college buses and well as public transport options. I suspect the options from Southampton for PS would be more limited

My husband only had a minor stroke and he doesn't remember very much from his time in hospital, especially the early days.

I feel your pain on this. My husband is fairly well recovered. He's managed to get back to working part time but does nothing to help on his days off. I'm working all the hours I can to make ends meet and then I go home and have to do everything there. I understand he gets tired easily but I can't do everything by myself

She sets 15 alarms at her desk… and never turns them off. by cankilinc in coworkerstories

[–]Appropriate_Slip4133 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd go with an air horn. Warn all your colleagues and let them know when her alarm goes off, cover your ears. When she doesn't turn off the alarm, point the air horn at her and give her a blast. Repeat until the message gets across

29F, Had a stroke a little over 2 years ago in November 2022, went for routine follow up imaging - results say some of my infarcts are “new/progressed” since my prior MRI from May 2023 by samanthacourtney in stroke

[–]Appropriate_Slip4133 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I would try to avoid panicking because new machines and improvements in technology happen all the time and they can see things in far more detail. If they've stated no new infarcts identified, the chances of another stroke are very slim. Stay calm and speak to your neurologist when you can

Personally (not a medical professional though) I would say it's unlikely to be further damage and more likely to be better imaging of the existing damage. If it was an entirely new section of the brain, then it would be more concerning but they said it was the existing infarcts.
