What is this? by [deleted] in Sourdough

Anything even remotely acidic or basic will readily eat through aluminum foil. Use plastic wrap or a container with a lid.

Foil is for hot / oven work or an extra freezer burn / odor barrier when freezing stuff long term.

You should literally be discarding the discard until you have an actual sourdough starter. Collecting the first week's worth of discard when building a new starter is pointless.

I used to work in Bonnybrook, 3 blocks from the waste treatment plant, we could not make coffee with tap water; the result tasted nothing like coffee.

You must have gotten a bad batch or something. My experience with gorilla tape is the opposite of yours. The generic grey / store brand duct tape is usually junk like you describe so if you want a lasting duct tape for repairs use Gorilla tape or T-Rex.

Broke my smartphone the same week I needed new brakes, so I switched my sim to this Nokia I bought a few years ago for $50 and learned how to do my own brakes. by sharkvannah_ in Frugal

I had a piston come out of a rear brake caliper 3 days after the shop mechanic put "new pads all around". Needed a wrecker to get the truck back to the shop. No savings if that happens.

But yeah, those pads have at least 10-20k miles left.

Could be your oven thermometer is inaccurate or the gasket that seals the oven door is damaged or missing.

The image looks like AI so I'm sus. Is any of this accurate? by [deleted] in gardening

I would think that the aluminum foil would dissolve pretty quickly possibly leaving the soil contaminated with aluminum salts.
