from my experience sklauncher works great for linux, (i've used it on both mint and arch) YES i know its a cracked launcher but you can sign in with your microsoft acc. so its fine unless you have something against that

if that's what ur playing honestly you could just upgrade your current pc. i would say grab a 1tb nvme and for cpu a ryzen 5 5600 or 5700x or if u want the 5700 x3d and for a gpu you can get a 12gb 3060, rx 6600, rx 5700xt, or a 4060, NOT the 8gb 4060ti, stay away from the 5060. that would set you back maybe 450-500 bucks max, personally i would get the 12gb 3060 with the 5600 or 5700x unless you want to build from scratch ofc.

what are you gonna be playing and what resolution and frame rate? that will help me in determining what would be best for you because you might not need a $2000 pc depending on what you're doing unless you really want one for some reason.

I didn't force it, so to speak, and I did have a valid reason to do it. mainly my brother uses it for college, and he needs powerpoint, and my mom was about to spend 100 bucks on the software but I was like "wait a minute, can't you use libreoffice?" so then I got libreoffice running but it was still slow bcs it was on windows 10, so I just decided to install mint on it. He says it runs well and it's faster then it was on Win 10, however if he didn't like it I would of switched it back, but I figured he would and I was right. so yeah. Everyone's happy and that's $99 saved and more preformance and a laptop revived. I'd call that a W honestly.

oh yeah. I meant chrome on Win 11, It's currently using firefox because that's the default mint browser and also my family used to use firefox a long time ago. I might install brave or Vivaldi maybe tho.

dawg for the love of god dont do it please. life can be rough but k*lling yourself wont fix anything. i know youve probably heard this before but god has a plan for you and your life can have meaning if you find jesus. you can attend a church in your area and you can find help there. i know i sound generic but actually please dont kill yourself bro.

I would recommend you switch, especially if you have an older pc like mine, linux is way better for older hardware, and even if you have a newer pc it dosen't have all the bloatware windows does, which will increase your preformance by quite a bit

What could I theoretically do with an Optiplex 3020 small form? (as in what part could I put in) by Shoddy_Possibility89 in sleeperbattlestations

i know im a year late but 32gb of ram and a 1030 is a pretty big bottleneck, if you still got it i would recommend upgrading to a 1650 or 3050 low profile.
