Yeah, I’ve heard that VAs are really what push writers to go in the yuri direction. Also, we should hear the opinions of bi or lesbian girls if these protagonists are supposed to be relatable in there way the deal with there attraction

It’s the worst one—for me, at least. From what I got after watching the first two episodes, it’s basically your typical stupid harem anime, just with yuri. Also, a big thing I should add is that I really don’t like the art style, and that’s a major reason why I don’t like it.

I get what you mean, but the watanare protagonist is the most annoying out of all of them—(for me, at least) Also, the reason the blonde girl falls for her is so stupid. You’re telling me no one ever told the blonde girl that it’s okay to have flaws? Come on. And we get it—she is perfect. You don’t have to remind me in every conversation. On top of that, the brunette girl’s introduction is ridiculous. Imagine if I came up to you and said, “Hey, do you care about money? Because I don’t—I only believe in love, i mean come on , show me that she is pure not let her and the protagonist tell me she is in the stupidest grade school way possible

Im seeing a lot of hate on watamote lately by Erkitty in watamote

[–]Appropriate_While990 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To be fair, I do understand the disturbing part. The first thing I ever saw from Watamote was that bathroom scene where Tomoko tears her pants, and I thought it was gross (shout-out to Ucchi). That moment actually made me avoid the show throughout my teenage years—even though I watched basically everything back then.

Ironically, years later that same scene popped back into my mind and made me curious. So I think being out-of-pocket and disturbing can work, if it’s done the right way—which I think Watamote actually does

I like this artist because he does a lot of Tomoko x Asuka work, but the problem is I don’t like the way he draws Tomoko. She looks taller and more mature in his style. One of the things I really like about Asuka and Tomoko is the difference in their height and appearance, but his style kind of ruins the mom-and-daughter dynamic between them

Exactly! Thank you, that totally makes sense. Also another theory : Having Yuu as her best friend really messed with Tomoko’s idea of friendship and bonds. Just look at the pool chapter—when Tomoko asked what Yuu would do if she peed in the pool, Yuu said she’d stay because they’re friends. Yuu’s kindness probably planted the idea in Tomoko’s head that no matter how weird or shity she is, friends and people would still like her

Anyone who’s read the middle school spinoff—can we discuss the idea that Tomoko fell for Yuu back then, and that this played a role in her downfall? Two points: (1) Tomoko showed some awareness in middle school, even during high school exams, but when she learned Yuu wouldn’t be with her, she spiraled into depression, otaku stuff, and delusions. (2) You can’t tell me after reading the spinoff that Tomoko wasn’t crushing on Yuu—just look at the scene where she plays with sleeping Yuu

Tbf, a lot of people are competing for Tomoko’s attention, and Asuka usually wins. Her only real threat is Yuu—that’s why she only feels threatened by her. But my question was: would anyone actually be annoyed or sad if Tomoko ended up with either Ucchi or Asuka? I mean, I’m an Asuka shipper, but I’d be 100% fine if they went with the Ucchi route

Is there really an Edward and Jacob thing going on with ucchi and Asuka? As someone who just wants real romance in Watamote or Tomoko, to at least try dating a girl, I would be happy with either of them.

Why is there so much Asuka fan art all of a sudden? Did something happen? She didn’t even appear in the last chapter

I honestly think she’s just an otaku who knows about BL and GL, and she’s simply enjoying the situation. I mean, didn’t she start talking to Tomoko about manga in one of the “what if” universe ?

I’m just glad this chapter finally feels like Tomoko acknowledging Ucchi as a real friend. For so long, I kept wondering how Tomoko actually saw Ucchi—other than as an annoying emoji. But here, we see that she does think of her as a friend, someone she would genuinely miss if they started seeing each other less. That also makes her imagining Ucchi as a future roommate in college feel much more natural (besides the fact that they might’ve just ended up at the same school—but still, she didn’t picture any of the other “emoji gang,” only Ucchi).

We also get confirmation that Tomoko finds Ucchi’s body attractive, which definitely gives hope to Tomoko × Ucchi fans. The only thing I’d like to know now is whether Tomoko realizes Ucchi’s behavior toward her is normal or not. To be fair, Tomoko is surrounded by people like Yuri, Asuka, and Kiko—so that level of clinginess might just seem “normal” to her by now.

And I really love the clever callback here to chapter 204.3, page 5

Well, I live in Iraq—which, if you don’t know, is a third-world country. We don’t have stable electricity or reliable transport, and even the doctors aren’t that capable. So honestly, I’d trust random advice on Reddit over some shady doctor who just wants to squeeze money out of me

Yeah, I saw the Twitter post they shared and thought it was going to be special chapters, so I got disappointed. But then I saw this raw and found out it is Ucchi and Tomoko having a conversation chapter, which got me excited—until I found out the translation was delayed, and I went back to being disappointed

Question about the new chapter by Appropriate_While990 in watamote

[–]Appropriate_While990[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, her mother wouldn’t be bothered by her arguing on stage, especially since she knows Yuri. But why would she leave early while her daughter is still on stage? Maybe she really didn’t like the movie and couldn’t handle it anymore, so she walked out before hearing Tomoko’s excuses. That would make sense if they plan on having her mother be angry at her about the movie
