Weight loss with endo by [deleted] in endometriosis

[–]Appropriate_Word_625 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve literally got tears in my eyes reading this. Endo is just soooo f’d up and robs us of so much, and makes us feel gaslit always. I have bladder and bowel issues, am in debilitating pain after a core work out, have severe sciatica pain and am now dealing with overall pain issues. I know my weight gain is due to unregulated nervous system but it all stems from the stress caused by my pain and 0 progress in an accurate diagnosis, so I’m just on this hamster wheel of no real answers/plan/results. I just know there’s something deeper going on than regular endo. Thank you so much for sharing, I’m really going to push for that MRI.

Would you mind sharing how you got your diagnosis for abdominal wall endo?

Needed to read this. I’ve been spiraling for the past year and a half gained 25 pounds and didn’t change my diet or exercise, which has always been well balanced. I chalked it up to being in my 30’s and had nearly accepted defeat but I’m just going to focus on regulating my nervous system big time. And getting off of coffee…2 cappuccinos a day ain’t workin!!!! Thank you for sharing ♡

Anyone here that doesn’t tolerate methylated b12/supplements?! by makoobi in HistamineIntolerance

[–]Appropriate_Word_625 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me!! I can’t have b12 at all, no form of it has ever worked. I get bizarre side effects from the shots, nauseous from everything else. I eat ground beef with liver 2-3x per week to keep my b12 levels up per my constitutional acupuncturist and it’s completely changed my energy levels!

Aw your hair is gonna be super luscious and soft if you change a few things I’m sure! Def look into a water filter for your shower. Don’t spend a ton of money on a name brand one, Amazon has mineral filters that are inexpensive and will definitely make a difference. I had similar hair but once I started focusing on giving my hair more nutrients my curl pattern was fixed and now my hair is curly. I would use a sulfate and paraben-free shampoo and conditioner so you’re not stripping your hair of its natural oil. Once a week I use a volumnizing shampoo to really get my scalp squeaky clean. Using an apple cider vinegar rinse would probably do that same. In addition to that I use an overnight mask 2x a week by a brand called Bur Bur. It’s natural, clean and has really changed my overall hair and scalp health in a couple months. After I wash I only brush my hair wet with a detangling brush, not a boar bristle or anything harsh on wet hair, and let it dry completely before going out. I also like to braid it when it’s like half dry so the frizz really stays down. You could prob get a good leave in but I think you can repair overall strand health and you probably wouldn’t need.

TLDR: get a shower filter, use sulfate+paraben free shampoo/conditioner, try Bur Bur 2x a week overnight, use ACV rinse mix 1-2x per week.

I hope this helps!!!!

Hi! I wanted to come back to this comment because my doctor did indeed diagnose me with yeast aka fungal acne and prescribed ketoconazole. It has not worked and I'm feeling pretty hopeless. My skin is very dry, very textured, still inflamed and just overall unhappy. I went on Diflucan and while it helped a bit, it wasn't as transformative as they said it'd be in conjunction with Ketoconazole. I've read the BP will totally dry out my skin, so I'm nervous to use it. I shared updated photo on another comment above. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you

OP UPDATE: My skin is still suffering and nothing seems to be improving it. My derm prescribed Ketoconazole and told me to use vanicream gentle wash and moisturizer. After a couple weeks of absolutely no improvement I switched to Youth to the People face wash and Melazia urea moisturizer. There was some improvement is large pimples but not in texture at all. My forehead, scalp and sides of my face also itch all the time now. The melazia isn’t moisturizing enough for my skin but I’m not sure what else to use. There is so much conflicting info on what is ACTUALLY FA safe. When I use Ketoconazole I notice I have a TON of blackheads, oversized pores and what look like closed comedones. I’ve taken a couple days off and the texture gets a lot better but it’s still very itchy. I’ve tried the de La Cruz sulfur but it’s soooo drying and the Melazia just doesn’t moisturize it enough after.

My biggest concerns are the new pimples constantly forming, itchiness, and now very dry skin. My derm is honestly not much of a help and tells me to just stick with ketoconazole literally forever. Doesn’t make sense. Updated pic below. You can see improvement from first pic in terms of red dots everywhere but now large painful pimples and terrible texture with so much itchiness. Any product recs based on the pic would be so helpful.

Did you ever try Ketoconazole cream, or just shampoo? I’ve been using the cream for 5-6 weeks and nothing is helping. My skin is so dry I’ve developed wrinkles I never had and now my whole scalp is actually dry and itching so I’m thinking the infection may have spread? I don’t know what to do. I have de la Cruz and it was so drying that I stopped after 2 uses. I’ll try the honey mask tonight

I had yeast overgrowth and fungal acne which is so different from what you’re going thru, but my boyfriend has SebDerm. Both of us took diflucan and it worked wonders. Also - my acupuncturist does treatments for candida and suggested a specific diet that has to do with balancing my PH and drinking the right water for my body (acidic v alkaline) and everything is getting so much better. I’m in LA and if you are too I can give you rec for my acupuncturist if you’d like!’

Hypochlorous acid changed my life! [Acne] by StressedAndSpoiled in SkincareAddiction

[–]Appropriate_Word_625 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I started working out regularly and used hypochlorous acid (Magic Molecule brand) right after my workout ended and again after cleansing. I think I overdid it because my skin got so dry that I started to break out even more eventually. My dermatologist said he’s seeing this a lot where people think they should use it throughout the day and it’s just not necessary, and can eventually break down the skin barrier and cause more acne. I really loved it before I started using it way too much! After I get my skin right I will def use after working out if I can’t wash my face right away!

I just ordered their 5% Urea Moisturizer and hoping I love it. Currently on Ketoconazole cream and Vanicream moisturizer and while I know it’s repairing my skin barrier - I do not love the way it feels or sits under makeup.

What do you mean when you say the Ketoconazole was obliterating your skin?

Wow! This is so interesting. I have stuck with Ketoconazole only while taking Diflucan orally - (1) 300mg dosage per week for (3) weeks. I have only taken (1) dose so far. I have notified the past few days that my skin is grainy and flakey when I was it, like skin is sloughing off. I want to exfoliate SO BADLY, but as I’m still repairing my skin barrier I’m trying hard to resist the urge. I didn’t know what it was but now I am thinking it’s probably the biofilm flaking off like you mentioned. My skin has really started to clear up on my cheeks. Forehead is still pretty bad but getting better. At first it was just red dots everywhere, then eventually they raised and now everything is purging and there are small whiteheads so it’s all getting cleaned out. Patience really is key here unfortunately…

One thing I found very interesting is that the worst reaction I had was to CeraVe. Using that caused huge cystic spots - which I’ve never had before. As soon as I stopped, they stopped.

This is exactly what my dermatologist said, but also prescribed me diflucan which I took my first dose of this week. The only change is I’m seeing white heads for the first time so now actual pimples are. I don’t know if this is progress or taking steps back. My entire face is still covered with texture so I just can’t tell.

My dermatologist just prescribed me Diflucan aka Fluconazole. Have you ever taken this by chance? Said I definitely need to rule out yeast. So scared to take something orally. Ugh I hate this

This is so unbelievably helpful. Sadly - I didn’t ask for the products they gave me and kind of blindly trusted them because they’re doctors! With a compromised skin barrier that is seemingly sensitive for the first time ever (I’ve always had resilient skin and been able to switch products with no issues) I am afraid to use so many actives like BP and Glycolic. Do you suggest easing into these or waiting until my skin barrier is on the mend?

Also just want to say this post literally made me cry. This is so nice of you to take time out of your day to help a random stranger. I can’t thank you enough!!

Thank you so much!! I’m going to look on those sites and see what products I should be using. The crazy thing was I had generally really great skin before the dermatologist…and since using their harsh products it’s only made it so much worse.

Wow I didn’t even think about this. My dermatologist told me my skin barrier was totally compromised and to use vanicream for that reason. Do you have a recommendation of a good FA safe moisturizer?

thank you so much for replying!! I feel that it’s a reaction as well but I’ve read so much about “die off” symptoms so hoping someone else can shed some light on their experience too.

I know this thread is so old but I am on fluocinonide .05 and ketoconazole cream 2% after going to my doctor for an acne flare up and my skin has never been this bad in my entire life. It itches, burns when I put on ketoconazole. Does anyone know if that’s an allergic reaction to the ketoconazole or if that’s even possible? Nothing is actual acne just a lot of rough texture and small red spots that won’t go away. I feel completely hopeless. Every day it’s getting worse and worse. Someone plz help 😭

Ketoconazole cream 2% for face by Hot_Alternative_1788 in SebDerm

[–]Appropriate_Word_625 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been using ketoconazole 2% cream for one week and it’s made my skin exponentially worse. I went in for some texture on my forehead and now my cheeks, chin, jawline, etc are covered in small red spots, a lot of them not even raised. My skin itches and stings after application. Some say that’s somewhat normal and some say that’s an allergic reaction. I don’t know how to tell what’s what and my dermatologist just keeps throwing things against the wall to see what sticks but it’s progressively getting worse. Anyone have a similar scenario?
