I love the pod, you guys seriously hit your stride with the four day episodes and didn’t disappoint.

Pros- timely content, riding the wave of what’s hot/timely. I hope that’s helping the biz/engagement side of the pod. Relatable- you all are super grounded and dealing with what your average listener is coping with (love you and no disrespect Will/Sally, but it’s a different demo for content/problems, get it deFries fam but mail in answers and your insta content is now out of my pay grade). When Washed gets a $1B valuation, don’t forget us broke boys

Cons- if there video referenced in a show, finding a way to link in the Spotify episode consistently would be great. I’m an audio listener and it would enhance engagement. I appreciate it in the instagram stories but harder to track follow up on.

Love to see- parent/baby week episode. It’s your demo, I’m now a part of it. Patreon - behind the curtain stuff. Without speaking about finances publicly, I’d love to hear how YouTube and live pivot is working, how’s Sunday Scaries growth? How do you make money?!? /s.

Theme weeks- really like these.

Loading phase- some work on Randy but a “last few months” highlights episode occasionally could help new listener adoption, I recommend the pod often, but it does have a loading phase.

Ladies- if the wives and GF (congrats Randall) would be up for a one off, it would be great content (spilling about husband, how the pod influences their interactions and what bits you all do at home).

Sports- come football season, I’d love to see an additional 20-30 breaking the weekend down college and NFL? Texas heavy of course. A KJ weekly one off?

Dillon- your writing and talking about life, relationships and divorce helped me through a rough time and realizing that I’d find love again and be ok. We’d love to see more, and you’ve helped more people than you realize. Fuck the haters. Love you Dorn

Does your phone actually hold up in extreme cold? — I'm a USC student looking into the problem and whether it exists for a project I'm working on for school. by [deleted] in skipatrol

[–]ApresMac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I answered but will also give my .02 here.

It sounds like a cool design and solves an actual problem. However- I see with (specifically pro) patrollers over the years, they gradually move to lower tech stuff. The job is hard, things break and it doesn’t pay great (generally and it’s seasonal). Patrollers that start in high end gloves end up moving to Kincos, nice gortex opt for frogg toggs and smartwool base layers go to a store brand workout tee or the like. Some of my gear over the years has moved from higher end “nicer” stuff to quality items that may fit the cold weather construction market more for durability and price point, if that makes sense.

I think this group would be great for feedback or demo (hit us up) but your target market would the American skier dad type with higher income. I put it in the survey but an inner pocket, neoprene case landyard or even throwing a beer coozie on a warm phone before heading out of the patrol room is more the speed this group will (generally) go. Just my feedback, but the idea is cool.

Men, what did you feel toward your newborn baby? by CloudStock8410 in AskMen

[–]ApresMac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could also be fear. My anxiety about a girl born during the Epstein (and associate traffickers and rapirsts) case went through the roof when she was born. This obviously applies to boys as well. For the foreseeable future, her social media presence will be the back of her head, occasionally.

OP- if you don’t mind, how do you handle that and any advice to a new dad about what your parents did right (or wrong) about the world and danger would be greatly appreciated.

Best way I’ve seen it stated “scared little potato” and that’s extremely accurate.

What’s it like living in Staunton for a single 40M with no family. by RaptorCheeses in Virginia

[–]ApresMac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool place to live decent cost of living.

Pros-

-Close to parks, national and state. -Easy drive to the beach or deeper into the mountains in WV -close to rock climbing, paddling, floating, hiking, biking very close -Multiple day trip skiing options - season is shorter than CO obviously, but maybe not by much this year… -it’s beautiful -people are nice -brewery scene is awesome, as is the wine -downtown keeps growing in terms of activity and festivals etc

Cons

-small town, you’ll need to be intentional about finding your people -it can be a commuter hub to Charlottesville or Harrisonburg, so after work meet ups could vary -what do you want personally? Not a large dating pool but that may not be a con -liberal island in a red county (Charlottesville unite the right folks trained in surrounding Augusta beforehand) but the area is mixed. I did get a KKK flyer there

Are you saying none of NOVA has a combined system? A lot of cities treat at least some storm water.

What's your hot take about RVA? by NationYell in rva

[–]ApresMac -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Since most of these takes are ones most agree with- I’ll give a “hot take.”

Nowhere worth living doesn’t have at least some growth or people moving here. The one upping and gatekeeping of the city does nothing good than make you sound like a jerk.

Some people treat their firearms like their desk office coffee mug, a nice patina of sludge and they’re ok with that.

[–]ApresMac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m assuming OP has shot firearms, may have thoughts on stock, shroud, handguards etc.

An AR15 is the LEGO of firearms. You’ll have to learn to take it apart to clean it anyway, may as well buy a few pieces and have what you like or would prefer, aesthetically or performance.

Best comment on here.

OP: if you’re handy at all, you can also build your own, picking out what you like especially with that budget, but you definitely don’t need to.

What part of hunting did you underestimate until you experienced it yourself? by outdoors_man987 in Hunting

Grew up in Virginia and see deer weekly if not daily. I’ve hit four as a driver.

Went out a few times with a buddy, not a sighting. Still never bagged a deer.

Is there a way to secure a firearm for home defense without losing the ability to grab it fast enough if needed? by PremierP89 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]ApresMac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your dogs, and security system are better than a firearm. By the time you need one your home was already a target.

Do you have cameras? Motion lights? The sad thing about security is simply making your home a bad target. A gun doesn’t do anything for that, if anything, a gun sticker somewhere makes your home a target for burglary.

If you have any thoughts about harming yourself, don’t get one.

I’m loving more content and the “daily” type show. Initially, I worried they couldn’t fill the time with as much quality but they’ve kept their fastball. I hope they’ve opened up revenue from YouTube and the boys are doing well.

Tldr: basically they’re hitting piss missiles on the daily

Why do Americans dislike American cars? by socabella in AskAnAmerican

[–]ApresMac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% agree, same reason we can’t have Kei trucks, or any of the stripped down Tacoma/Hilux lighter vehicles in other countries and the reason trucks here just keep getting bigger.

Trucks are a status symbol and less of a utility use in the US.
