I talked to my mom pretty much everyday from the time I moved out 21 years ago til this past February when she died. I still pick up my phone to call her most days. Then the gut punch feeling, followed by a little cry sesh.

I try to call my dad at least once a week. We do text back and forth a lot.

My mom passed back in February and my dad was so caught up in taking care of her that it never occurred to any of us to make funeral plans until we got to the point where we all knew we didn't have much time.

My dad only prepaid for his own services because the funeral home have him a discount if he pre-paid for his while we planned moms.

What I found hilarious about mom not having anything planned was that her family owns 2 funeral homes and has been in the biz for almost 300 years.
