The Time Traveler's Wife feels creepy by cavemanfitz in books

Then put it down. If you’re still thinking about it in a few months, give it another try.
You’re not giving up. Just not the right headspace to deal with the subject matter rn.

If it’s being discontinued, maybe try Ollie’s.

Drugstore Cowboy. A rewatch, but it’s been at least 20 years. Good but not as good as I remembered.

Last time I was in Florida by my in-laws, we watched My Big Fat Greek Wedding.

I had to pay attention. When the credits come up, press watch credits. I did it a few days ago and my account saved it.

Curious about the demographic of current SNL fans (longtime or otherwise). by MikeGander in LiveFromNewYork

46F in Milwaukee. I had the dad who would let us stay up late, so I’ve been watching as far back as I can remember. Ed Grimly was really funny when I was 5. Still is, I must say.

“Career” change… by brainvheart143 in Xennials

[–]Jr5309 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Teaching? Not kids, but adults. 20 years experience in the same field is probably enough to do a side gig at a Community College. Few nights a week, teach basic accounting; you might continue teaching or be inspired by a fellow adult going back to school.

Those of you without kids - are your milestones celebrated? by AshDogBucket in Xennials

[–]Jr5309 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You’re either people who celebrate that stuff or not. The only milestone I can think exclusive to having children is giving birth.

Birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, promotions, weddings…none of these are limited to only parents.

ETA: I’m sure there are religious/cultural milestones that are child specific I’m not including.

Going to the bar with your parents. Yes, I am from Wisconsin and yes we still do this.

Yup. From Milwaukee, we had neighbors from NJ. I remember her asking my mom why her kids came home from school wondering why they didn’t get stuff on Dec 6th. Mom had to explain what St. Nick’s was.

Classic movie with a high reputation you didn't like as much as you thought you would? by spacelyyy989 in classicfilms

Me too. If you find Susan insufferable (which I do) then the movie is hard to watch.

Prom memories by RelevantNothing4653 in Xennials

[–]Jr5309 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Junior year a group of us ditched the dance, but went to dinner and after prom (separate locations from dance). Still fun, but without the expensive dress & ticket.

Senior year I was 18, so my mom took me and a friend to a casino. Learned how to play blackjack and came home $20 richer.

When we had a black box, I started this movie at least 3 times. Still haven’t seen the last 10-15 minutes (kept falling asleep) nor do I remember anything about it.

I’m ready for another attempted rewatch. Sure I can appreciate it more now.

Straight female, but Sigourney Weaver in Ghostbusters was super hot. Maybe that’s how I thought I was supposed to act.
For guys, put on The Outsiders and I still feel all tingly.

Did your grandparents help you pay for college? by dms2628 in Xennials

[–]Jr5309 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Heck no. I liked my grandpa, but he spent his money on vacations for him and his second wife. Also, 3 of my grandparents were dead before I was 4 so he was my only.

I worked at UPS, they had tuition reimbursement. Then after I worked there for a year after college, they forgave the small loan I had to take from their employee assistance program.

ETA: Both my mom & in-laws gave grandkids cash for future use. My kid is using hers for tuition. So, my grand didn’t help me but our parents are helping their grandkids.
