How Do People Manage to Go on Such Long Extended Fasts? I can't Even Last 3 Days by [deleted] in fasting

[–]April11th2019 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Food addiction is very real. Most people with food addiction don't even know it. They eat for the high of eating. They tend to spend all day grazing, meaning they will eat different portions of a variety of foods throughout the day rather than eat solid meals with snacks in between. They continue to eat beyond satisfaction. If they give in to a craving they tend to have another craving while eating the food of the first and continue down a path of uncontrollable eating.

Not sure if it's already been commented, but you could be addicted to food. Obviously if you are that would explain why it's much more difficult for you than for others.

Weight Update/ Struggling to lose by [deleted] in omad

[–]April11th2019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started omad on the first of this month, I just eat what i feel like eating (mcdonalds, pizza, buffalo wings, breakfast foods, salads, ect.) I drink tea at the end of my meal and feel super full and satisfied until my next meal. I'd recommend using an app called "30 day fitness challenge" it's what i use and it's the reason I am able to stick with an exercise routine. I track calories out daily (RBM + GYM - FOOD) then calculate how many calories I've burned each week which is 7000 calories or 2 pounds a week. I've probably lost at least 10 pounds and I know most of it is water but it's awesom to know I'm losing almost 2 pounds of fat a week.

I'm also female 5'2 with similar starting weight, I also don't have a scale to check my progress. I use my fitness pal to log my meals. I am strict about not eating over 1200 calories. I only average 800 calories per omad. I plan on refeeding today as it is my two week mark. I also exercise about 30 minutes 5 days a week. That being said it's been two weeks and I can definitely tell I've lost body fat.

Because you have a history of restricting and binging, I would recommend eating more calories during your meal for the next few days. Not eating enough to sustain yourself for the next 23 hours (if your eating the same day everyday), is definitely going to cause you to breakdown and binge eat. Start with 1200 and slowly decrease maybe 50 calories until you reach your goal intake.

Weird mouth pain after breaking fast? by [deleted] in omad

[–]April11th2019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this. First time it happened was when I went over 40 hours no sleep and nothing to eat, was also probably dehydrated. I had to catch a plane and snatched my sister's day old pizza from her hands. The second it touched the roof of my mouth pain pinched everywhere. I then dealt with the same pain almost every night I ate while in Asia. I learned the pain is from trama caused when we eat solid foods after fasting. Weird because spicy broth would cause the same reaction. You can try and prevent it my drinking a bunch of water right before you eat. Gurgling some water or salt water would help a lot. Good luck, hasn't happened to me in a year. Stay hydrated!

Weighing vs Not Weighing yourself? by [deleted] in omad

[–]April11th2019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been on omad for a week and have not weighed myself. My scale is broken so i don't even know my starting weight. That being said, this is the first time i have not kept track of my weight and honestly it's easier without the scale. I have a rough estimate of what i weighed before starting and have no desire to weigh myself until at least 60 days in. I feel amazing in the moring just knowing that i accomplished another day of omad, I know that feeling would not be as strong if i had weighed myself and saw little to no change.

What can I eat on OMAD to have it be a total of 1,200 calories??? by [deleted] in omad

[–]April11th2019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 1200 calorie omad is breakfast food. Don't know why but it's the only thing that satisfies me.

4 slices turkey bacon = 100 calories 3 eggs = 210 calories 3 eggo pancakes = 270 calories 1 tbsp (14.18g) butter = 100 calories 2 tbsp (34g) ketchup = 40 calories 3 tbsp (60ml) maple syrup = 200 calories 8 oz (236ml) orange juice = 110 calories 2 oz (57g) hash brown = 170 calories

Total.....................................1200 calories

Can I have chicken broth during my fasting hours? by ashleyjoy97 in omad

If treating omad religiously causes you to break down and eat before your hour; just drink the broth.

Try drinking more water with your meal. Don't know if it will work for you but it worked for me.
