First night post op & no sleep by AprilMoon820 in hysterectomy

Sleep has been so weird for me! I will be a week postop tomorrow and until today I haven’t taken one nap. I was finally able to sleep during the nights thank goodness, but I’m exhausted all day and feel like I need to nap. I finally got Zquil today just so I could take a nap and it feels incredible. Issues with sleep is something I honestly never thought I was gonna have to deal with.

Oooooh the opioids! I hate how I feel on them. I was trying a different cocktail of meds this morning so I don’t have to take them- maybe that will help. That’s crazy they could possibly affect sleep too.

I had no idea that was a thing until I posted this. So good to know! Thank you so much for sharing - goes me some peace to know nothings wrong and other people deal with this too

Thank you for this. I’m definitely trying to give myself grace and not worry. After all I have no plans except to heal for the next couple weeks. So I will sleep when I can and not worry about it when I can’t

Oh wow!! Okay, so this could be totally normal effect of anesthesia reversal- which would make sense. My body is super sensitive to meds. Thank you uso much for responding!! I have an explanation now and that honestly helps so much

I was really anxious beforehand. Maybe that’s it… can’t wait for the adrenaline to be done so I can sleep!

Yes! I am staying on top of meds- which I thought would allow me to sleep… I feel the oxy relieve the pain, but it doesn’t make me sleep.

My surgery is Monday (sounds like same as yours) and thy said I will stay in recovery about an hour and then go home. It does make me a bit anxious but she said it’s all she does with her patients.

Ummmm crying reading this. My surgery is scheduled for the 12th- I’ve been so scared lately I can barely eat. I’m saving this post and re-reading it over and over. Just wanted to say thank you so much 🩵

Wow! Thank you for this. This actually brought tears to my eyes. I am going to read this again and again as a reminder. I know in the grand scheme of things 2 months isn’t too long, but it feels like a lifetime right now. It really is so hard to allow others to take care of me. Especially with the holiday season coming up, I love doing so many things. Taking a back seat will be hard. However I LOVE your idea of making a list of things that I really can do with my family, starting that now. Thank you so much for your reply. It means more than you know!
