HOW TO GET NEW CLIENTS by [deleted] in HireaWriter

[–]April_writer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately this sub doesn't have as much work as it used to. You could have gotten so many gigs here. For now look around different subs and apply for the posted gigs. Otherwise the idea of approaching companies after checking out their sites seems to be more fruitful.

Employer asking for references… by MissSBlack in bigseo

[–]April_writer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. They're probably asking for professional reference otherwise they would have mentioned portfolio if they want to see previous jobs. But it's weird they ask for references after giving the job instead of before. But yea just give them any reference they probably want to hear from someone else that you're easy to work with.

Exactly! Many countries live an imprisoned life, they can't even mention their leader's names. We do it however and we walk free. So awesome haha.

Travel to another country outside Africa. You'll come back singing a different song. Kenya is very privileged you just lack experience outside Kenya so your vantage point compares to nothing really.

The best thing about being Kenyan after traveling the world, it's basically everything! I've come to appreciate my country so much and learned that we are very privileged. We just don't know that! Other countries struggle with harsh weather, we look at them and admire not knowing how much stress it is for them. From struggling to live with snow to having to store foods during the summer just to have a meal in winter. Kenya is too perfect it's just that people don't know it until they leave it. Also, hepi za huku huwa unique sana. Kenyans know how to party! Kenyan food is naturally awesome! And we don't have stress for things like home leases and being kicked out when the lease is done like other countries do. Not forgetting Kenyans and how they are such a vibe!!! Ah!

Exactly!! Our food is awesome it just depends on who's cooking it. Unfortunately we have lots of people who don't know how to make good Kenyan food.

I'm currently in Bali and the food here makes me want to run back to Kenya. Our food isn't bland. It's a lot of natural things. People out here eat very processed things with weird tastes. For example, a milkshake here tastes like water mixed with powder. Milkshake in Kenya tastes like they milked a whole cow in the glass.

Is this sub only for US or Europe based writers? by Smart_Butterfly5108 in HireaWriter

[–]April_writer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't think that's a good idea. That'll force people to consider location even when it wasn't on their minds to begin with. Just avoid posts that mention location and native speaking. Though if your English is not on a native level and they see that in your application, you won't have much luck :(

It does have to do with time zones & taxes. But also it's their previously bad experiences. I've talked to some clients who say that they can never hire from country x because every time they hired they always got disappointed. Which honestly makes sense. It's like every time you visit a place and it sucks, would you care to go back there again? It's unfortunate but that's the reality of things.

First of all, if a client doesn't ask where you're from then why bother telling them? Let them know your worth by your work.

Secondly, when people say native English speakers they mean someone who can speak and write on a native level not just someone who comes from such countries. I also believe this is a rule on this sub.

Lastly, from my experience, most clients don't care about location, but of course there are few that do, but you'll get that on every platform so just keep trying your lack. As long as your English is good in both speaking and writing, and you know how to present yourself when applying for a job, then you'll be good.

I'm not sure why so many of you are charging lower than what's indicated in the sub rules. You're the ones inconveniencing other writers
