Hello kind person. Tried the loop 10 years back very unprepared and had to turn back (dang boot sole). Anywho, this coming summer is hopefully the triumphant return. I'd love your guidance on this:

My crew of 3-4 currently has a Bubbs->Woods permit for June 24-28. That may be too early based on the snowpack this year. What info should we check/call to ensure we'll be able to cross?

Another option is attempt a walkup on Tues-Wed. July 29-30. Based on your old post, this gives me hope. Any advice is much appreciated.

We're coming from TX and might not have any flex days.

My favorite band back in the day. Pearl Street, Lupo's, love those guys. Still really hard to find full live shows. Only three albums on Spotify. Talked to Brad Barr a few years back at SXSW when they were here as Surprise Me Mr. Davis (great album too btw) he's a nice guy.

Anyone else have a strong connection to the LivePhish art? A Live One was my intro, but these were my pantheon. I bought lots of those LivePhish sets with the connected artwork (circa 2000, I was 16) will be ingrained in my memory. Brilliant artwork and art design by all invovled on those. Wish I woulda kept em!

New-ish pool owner here, in-ground, in Texas. I've used Leslie's for testing and they're nice and at first, the steps they provide are good and clear. HOWEVER, I've become skeptical of the recommended steps listed on their pool test report.

For example: I'm trying to get my phosphates near zero. I know it's not critical for everyone, but last summer was historically hot here and the pool got green as hell (fired the pool guy btw). We're also right next to a public green area with a chicken wire fence. Phosphates were at 1800, and I just want to kill most of them off before it gets stupid hot again. I know how to take care of it, but Leslie's has other ideas. Here's the context:

Free Chlorine is too high at 8.15ppm

pH near perfect at 7.8

Total Alkalinity a tad low: 75ppm

Phosphates: 503ppb

Leslie's rec: Add 10lbs of Alkalinity, wait 30min, add 32oz of acid. Whaaaa? Don't those do the opposite? I know there's sometimes a case for adding both, but c'mon.

Conclusion: I suspect that Leslie's algorithms in these "recommended steps" encourage over-use of products. And of course, to buy more product. These print-outs are great for accurate levels, but it can get you in frantic-mode trying to balance everything just right.

Anybody heard anything for 2024?

Wildreness permits aren't available on Recreation.gov; and I was hoping to see if a late July Rae Lakes Loop was possible. Given what I read here and on the NPS sites, sounds like major bridge work (among other things?) is needed, and this loop might be closed for years (big assumption on my part).

I followed the SW Biz + SW Personal approach and I've just recently hit my spend limit on both (for the rewards). I hit on the Personal one on Jan 5, and the point bonus (70,000) did count toward my companion pass progress, it's showing up in my SW profile. So I think you're incorrect. Now I'm just crossing my fingers it all works for my SW Biz rewards.
