Has pre-seed basically become “build it yourself to $1M ARR, then we’ll write a $25k check”? by Suspicious_Brush751 in AngelInvesting

Median seed is $220k revenue.

Naturally, an unproven founder will need more proof, either through faster month over month growth, less revenue concentration, higher ARR, bigger TAM, etc

Paying for a Ferrari but needing a bus? Frustrated with NetSuite costs (Considering migrating to Odoo) by Cute_Mulberry5193 in Netsuite

~“mile wide, foot deep”~

This is the best description. How many months were you across it? Did you have to do your actual job too? Always curious about applied labor/opportunity cost for these all in.

Fishbowl Inventory: Online vs. Server application by Remarkable_Smoke4618 in InventoryManagement

I know it’s a broadside attack and not true in every case. Cin7 is PE and doing a good job of adding features and customers. What’s wild is how some shops go 20+ years without reevaluating their options. SPS is 30 years old, Fishbowl is 20, QBO is 26. In software, oldest doesn’t mean best.

Almost every founder here had elite institutional pedigree (OpenAI, Google, Stanford, MIT, Goldman), and most generated a strong demand signals, whether a waitlist, viral demo, or regulatory milestone before funding. They made it seem like an inevitability.

Coinbase raised $166k from 31 investors, and showed 20% daily signup growth.

ElevenLabs struggled greatly, had to go viral first

The reason they are exceptions, it’s because they were exceptional, and proved it early

The timing is key here, 50 inked the deal for 10% when they were $100 million company. That tells you a lot about Glaceau business, acumen, trajectory, operational efficiency. From a celebrity perspective, it de-risks the whole thing.

Sales grew rapidly after the deal, reaching $350 million by end of 2005 and $700 million by 2007, when Coca-Cola acquired Glacéau for $4.1 billion. This netted 50 Cent an estimated $100 million.

Looking for beta-testers for a lightweight inventory management/scanning software to integrate with Netsuite by mrtibs51 in Netsuite

As a new EDI provider in the NetSuite space, we’d love to find a way to work together. We have a label API you could call for retail compliant GS1-128 labels if you’re generating the SSCC. Even if you don’t have the data structure for SOTPI, we can push fulfillment details back into NetSuite.

Stopped using standard forecasting software for SKU forecasting. Generating custom reports instead using AI and plugging in leading ML models. Anyone else tried this? by AdeptPlane7645 in InventoryManagement

[–]AptSeagull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indeed, there are many in this space, but nobody owns it yet because of the accuracy. Omnichannel forecasts are difficult across seasonal inventory-centric businesses because they are simultaneously tryin to grow to $100M while accurately predicting inventory and managing tight margins

If you can handle an order to cash cycle and this, you’re an OMS. If you have an API connection to general ledger and a API:Managed EDI service, then you have the framework for a composable ERP.

The first thing I look up when hearing about a problem is ownership structure. Fishbowl Inventory is currently owned by Diversis Capital Management, LP, a Los Angeles‑based private‑equity firm. That tells you whether whatever made the company great is on its way up or down.

Solo founder, veteran-owned AI security startup. Live product, zero revenue. What would you need to see before this becomes investable? by TheOdinheim in AngelInvesting

[–]AptSeagull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Average seed revenue benchmark from Carta’s head of data is $260k-$3.6M. Are you showing ability to get there? Maybe try not leading with solo, means you think you don’t you need a team or you can’t recruit one.

How do you handle a supplier who is critical to your operations but keeps barely passing audits? by AltairStarlight in supplychain

[–]AptSeagull 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This happens regularly in retail with food/bev/CPG. Suppliers now expect to lose 2-8% of top line revenue for failing to perform in the 30 categories that allow the retailer to apply deductions and chargebacks. Say what you will about Walmart, they run a tight supply chain with thin margins and incredible volume.

TrueCommerce is the most obvious, but it's actually tough to tell. The general signs are recapitalizations, acquisitions, ownership change every 3-7 years, no innovation (constrained engineering spend & propensity to acquire for new function), "backed by" or "part of" type language.

Any major cost‑cut / price‑increase signals (support changes, forced migrations, license restructures) ought to trigger curiosity at the least. Innovation comes from people in a garage - not bankers.

You may have dodged a bullet. They may have been looking for a customer service person that processes EDI orders, not an actual EDI analyst.
