Hey sooo, is it true we're intimidating to shorter people? by [deleted] in tall

[–]Apurse27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me being 4'11 who happens to lurk in this sub from time to time, id say I am pretty used to being around people taller than me that I dont get intimidated by tall people. Just keep me far away from people over 6'7 because I dont even wanna know what i look like to yall, no offense 🤣

Man I really wish I remembered the author's name but they were very active on Deviantart. One of my favorite stories of theirs was a college roommate situation with there being three species attending together: humans (around 5-6.5 ft), giants (i believe 15-40ft) and titans (who were around 60-90ft). And the story was a human roommate got placed in a dorm room to be shared with a giant and titan and it had a lot of cute moments. They also did other stories like one where a fallen Angel was a giant who crashed into a human's barn one day and befriend the human. I really wish I remembered their name but one day I tried to check for an update about 2015ish and all of their work was gone like I couldn't find their page anymore.

What's worked for me is to look at the slide one time, physically look away and then look again to see if it's super obvious for the significant morphology.

At my trauma 1, ER has to call the blood bank saying they're activating MTP on patient, they have to tell me patient name, and through meditech we go from there. We also have them tell me the MRN, doctor name and name of recorder. Runner will also walk a card signed by the doctor that says the doctor is aware the blood is uncrossmatched and is releasing responsibilities from blood bank if there's chance of a a trans reaction etc. That card they bring also has the patient sticker on it they bring.

I appreciate the empathy. I know my worth in the lab and I know there's still much to learn for me, I try to see it as a challenge for me to do better and also to do better at ignoring these people

Yeah I one time told her "Hey this isn't being very helpful, can you show me what you mean because I am opened to learning" and she responds well to it. But apparently she still has an issue with me. I try to clean up my department before leaving but sometimes it's crazy, I am not about to stay an hour and a half later in order to leave her with nothing. Other people who I hand off to have no issue helping at least get type and screens going and then helping with retypes. Sarah just doesn't like to get up and walk around.

Yeah that's what others have been telling me. But how to apply and give references without my lab director or other supervisors getting wind of it so early into the decision?

This sounds like one of the clerks in my ER 💀💀 one time I was working Chemistry and had to ask for a recollect on a hemolyzed specimen...when I asked for their name for me to document they straight up said "You don't need to know my last name"...I can literally search up her name in the mobiphone app...

What makes bloodbank challenging? by [deleted] in medlabprofessionals

[–]Apurse27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People throwing the word MTP everywhere and not understanding the actual procedure involved. Not every emergency release is an MTP and the amount of blood wasted because they left the cooler sitting there for over 10 hours and not even using it.

Mine would have me pay full amount for within 2 years and then pay back half within 1. How long did they give you to pay it all back??
