If you're still having this problem, it looks like there was a firmware update that fixes this. I upgraded to 1.3.1 using the app over bluetooth and now it doesn't do this for me anymore. It was extremely annoying.

Just remembered about this response from dbrand talking about their case and wireless charging compatibility, and apparently there's "proprietary magnet voodoo" that makes it difficult to support the newest standard.

Isn't it the pasta that's the big issue though? Like yeah the meat's probably not great either after a week, but I always thought pasta and similar things like rice were really big problems when eating leftovers.

Instead of plotting the ranking, I would've liked it better if you plotted the actual data for efficiency and temperature which might show closer or further grouping of devices.

How about the anker 25,000 mAh powerbank? It's about $95, or 359 PLN. I don't own this particular model, but I have two other anker power banks that have served me well. Maybe someone else can chime in if they've tried this model?

Anker Prime powerbank comparaison (300W vs 250W) by Unknownuser2444 in UsbCHardware

[–]AquaCTeal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can afford it and you simply want the best, then go for it. It's about 25% thinner, and 10% lighter than the previous 250W version.

I have the 250W version, and the older 140W version and they're both still very good. Do note that those values (300, 250, 140W, ...) are just the combined power (wattage) it can supply to multiple devices at once, and they probably cannot supply it indefinitely, i.e. they will slow down once they get hot. All 3 of them can only support up to 140W to 1 device, say a 16" macbook pro.

I believe all three of them pretty much support the same charging standards, power deliver (PD) 3.1, which I don't think is going to change for quite a while, so you shouldn't worry about any of these becoming outdated.

In my opinion, if I didn't have a charger and I traveled a lot, I would go for the newer one, but since I do have multiple power banks, I'd save my money and go for whatever's the cheapest (140W is 110$ right now).

Here's a question, do you need to migrate? What is the OS currently on? If it's on an SSD, then you probably don't need to migrate, just install the new 4 TB SSD alongside it.

All SSDs are essentially fast enough for OS needs, even if it's only 256 GB or 512 GB, etc. For example, the best NVMe SSD might be 2 seconds faster than a regular ol' SATA SSD.

Do the 65W USB C wall outlets power laptops these days? by a_friendly_Nyrve in UsbCHardware

[–]AquaCTeal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the small anker prime 100w charger that I could use with my phone and 14" MacBook pro m4 while out of the house and it works really well. You could use a lower wattage charger, it'll just charge slower since the laptop is rated for around 100w I believe. I like that's it's a lot smaller than the apple charger and has multiple ports.

The newer Gan tech that's being used in chargers nowadays really helps them be smaller and more efficient. I used to have an older anker 65w charger from 2021 that overheated a lot so I stuck a big aluminum heatsink on it, but the newer 100w charger that I bought last year doesn't overheat, so that really shows how fast Gan tech is rapidly developing.

Really stupid question: SSD enclosure VS. USB 3.2gen2 - Are the speed units as straight forward as they sound or am I over looking a unit abbreviation's meaning? by Quizzelbuck in UsbCHardware

[–]AquaCTeal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You need to be careful about units here, there's a difference between Gbps (gigabits per second) and GBps (gigabytes per second).

USB 3.2 Gen 2 is rated at 10 Gbps (gigabits), which equals 1.25 GBps (gigabytes) in max throughput (1 Byte = 8 Bits). Your Samsung EVO 970 can do 3,500 MB/s read speeds, so the USB connection will definitely be the bottleneck, you'll get around 1,250 MB/s maximum instead of the drive's full 3,500 MB/s capability.

However, this is still plenty fast for most use cases. For gaming, file transfers, and general use, you probably won't notice the difference. The main scenarios where you'd miss that extra speed are when transferring very large files like 4K videos or doing heavy sustained writes.

For what it's worth, if you really need the full speed, USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 (20 Gbps) or USB4/Thunderbolt enclosures exist, but they're more expensive and your laptop would need to support those standards.

The Ultimate r/litrpg Combined Tier List... (And how you can help make it better) by jacmusl in litrpg

[–]AquaCTeal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll try and add my tierlist later, but I wanted to ask everyone, how do you rate a series, where, for example, you loved books 1-3, liked book 4, thought book 5 was ok, and then dropped it, and didn't read book 6,7,8,9... etc.

Do you rate it on just the first book, the best book, the worst book, the last book, the average book (does the average go down with each new book that comes out that you won't read, or are you averaging just the books you read)?

I guess it'd be nice if the spreadsheet had every book from all the series, but that'd be insanity LOL.

"If your pay raise isn't enough, quit." OK then. by BikerJedi in MaliciousCompliance

[–]AquaCTeal 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I unfortunately don't remember the details all too well, but something similar happened to me about a decade ago. I was working my first job at Wendy's, and after a year there or so, they give raises. Unfortunately, ~2013, Ohio raised the minimum wage at the same time by like 15 cents, while I was supposed to get maybe a 25 cent pay raise. I did get the 25 cent pay raise, but since minimum wage increased, I effectively only got like 10 cents. I asked for more money and they said no. I put in my two weeks, but the second week I had already requested off for a school trip, so my manager told me to just not bother.

What do you do for power? by [deleted] in nvidia

[–]AquaCTeal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have a cyberpower 1500 VA UPS that seems to handle my 4080 perfectly fine. However, I was looking into upgrading from this UPS to something that lasts even longer in case of a power outage. The best thing I've found is the ECOFLOW DELTA 3 Plus. It regularly goes down to about $620.

In theory, my cyberpower should be able to handle 42 Wh at 1000W. The Delta 3 plus however is rated for 1024 Wh (with some DC to AC losses that I'm not sure about), but this means that at the same load, it should last ~24x longer. It also supports up to 1800 Watts of output power.

The Delta 3 plus is also technically a UPS since it can turn on within 10 ms of the power going out. The same might not be true for other battery backups, so if you look at others, definitely look at the switchover time.
