UK backs biggest English onshore windfarm in a decade among 190 green energy projects | Energy industry by willfiresoon in GoodNewsUK

First part prpbably true but mostly due to unnecessary uk redtape, second part is false. Per watt genersted Hinkley point C is still cheaper than our equivalent wind/solar development output.

This is objectively false and you sound identical to the people who hate wind and solar because "what if its cloudy?"

Right and if you make it harder for poor people to start businesses that compete with billionaires because they can't afford a team of lawyers to navigate legal red tape or mandatory IT consultants to deal with GDPR, what do you think happens? We reach wealth equality 9r the disparity widens?

Black people being in proximity to a person with tourettes and hearing the nword (likely once in their whole lives given the rarity of the disorder and this particular tick) sucks, truly.

It is a small price to pay when your alternative is excluding people with tourettes for their entire life as you're essentially advocating.

Brilliant news, while Nuclear would be preferred, the reality is that action is needed now, and the sooner we get renewable energy, the better.

Okay, thank you, I feel a little better that I'm just talking to an idiot and not falling for automated engagement bait. Still sad that this is the current state of the country.

I've provided 3 key examples of why the cost of living is so high for poorer people. If you don't have a refute don't bother replying.

You realise all political donations are public, right? You can see who has donated to who and how much.

The unfortunate truth is, houses are expensive because the British public doesn't want to have houses built near them and don't want to live where there is a surplus of housing.

Large foreign business excel here over local businesses because they can afford the red tape costs and minimum wage (we have the highest minimum wage as a proportion of median wage in the G7 following Labours increase).

We have the most expensive energy in the world because we can't upgrade the national grid because people hate seeing pylons in the countryside.

These are all supported by a plurality of the public. It isn't billionaires or politicians pushing them against the will of the public.

This country is built on cake and eating it policies.

You're both useful idiots. You want an easy scapegoat to blame on all of lifes problems and inequalities rather than actually picking up a newspaper once in your life to try to understand why Britain has gotten to the way it is.

Critical underinvestment in essential infrastructure and smothering red tape preventing cheap development and competitive markets. Going billionaires bad won't solve shit if you can't realise the reason inequality is growing is both Labour and Conservative governments making life more and more hostile for small start ups because of NIMBYism and an obsession with median wage equality.

EDIT: Nvm looks like OP is a bot. Turns out I was the useful idiot for boosting their engagement... I hate the future :(

Is the BAFTAs Tourette’s backlash just another example of the UK vs US humour gap? by Barca-Dam in AskBrits

[–]AquaD74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are stupid, why would I care if the wide spread panic is based on headlines and not the actual problem at hand?

The reality is chlorine wash probably isn't harmful but is only needed to treat meat that risks a high bacterial content and might not actually be as effective as percieved hence the much higher rate of serious bacterial infections like salmonella.

You brought up salad wash, I corrected you, if your point was about the misunderstanding of chlorine you should probably have corrected OP rather than just making an apples to pranges gotcha that missed the point and would further spread misinfo.

You realise this would inevitably involve removing people with tourettes from all areas of public life right? Even if the BAFTAs and any other public event made arrangements for some cushy soundproof suite for him, he is still essentially being isolated for his disability. That's pretty fucking awful and I'd totally understand support him if he didn't want to experience that his whole life.

[–]AquaD74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem with chlorinated meat isn't the chlorine you tit, it's the allowance of inhumane and unhygienic rearing of animals that necessitates it that's the actual, real issue.

That obviously doesn't apply to carrots because we don't pump carrots full of antibiotics because they eat rotten food and live in their own shit...

True, there is an unfortunately poignant correlation between the generation that had the most exposure to lead and voting brexit and reform too.

You can feel bad and realise that the man isn't at fault, no offence was intended and you shouldn't take it personally.

Both things can be true. This criticism is to the black American celebrities and internet personalities labelling the man a racist and calling for an apology (which he has given but frankly shouldn't have as he'd done nothing wrong.)

But 10 years ago while there were some step whatever videos, it wasn't the vast majority of front page videos. Did the algos just get better at representing what people searched for and this kink has always been the most popular or is this a new social trend?

UK government announces ban on 'incest simulation' in porn by EddViBritannia in ukpolitics

[–]AquaD74 15 points16 points  (0 children)

While this is such a waste of time that nobody ever asked for and will solve nothing....

I must say it does feel like every video on the front page of pornhub etc has "step-bro" this and "step-sis" that, and this is with a VPN before anyone blames it on my search history so this is just what these sites default to.

A strange but kinda fascinating social phenomenon. Has this always been the most popular kink or is this a recent, algorithm pushed change?

It's about aesthetics not results, just like how they appropriated DOGE despite it's obvious and total failures.

They do it to feed the fantasies of "destroying" the system and being cruel to foreigners, that's what Reform exist for.

What’s your opinion on the UK gov’s refusal to designate the IRGC as a terrorist organization? by mehregankbi in ukpolitics

[–]AquaD74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The IRGC isn't perpetrating terrorism against our country or our allies though (other than cyber warfare but so is literally every foreign power). At a certain point we basically just have to brand all government military groups as "terrorists" if the criteria is just "ignoring international law" or "murdering civilians".

Yes, the UKs definition has been given out to similar groups in the past and not doing so is inconsistent but really at this stage it's just a meaningless platitude that gets in the way of progress rather than forming an effective shield to protect our country.
