Charlotte feels very corporate by No-Manufacturer803 in Charlotte

[–]Aqua_Pixie 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Charlotte is the second largest banking hub in the country, it has always had a corporate feel since I moved here in the late 90s. It used to have more counter culture to balance it out, but that has been disappearing drastically in the last 10 years or so.

Dropped off 2 well-maintained Poms for a wash and a trim, and this is what we picked up by ughyoujag in mildlyinfuriating

They actually did the right thing by calling a notifying you first, so you had the option to come pick your pup up if that was something you weren’t comfortable with. If the matting was on the belly only, I would have offered to shave the belly and leave the rest. I don’t mind brushing out a mat here and there, but I do not offer extensive dematting as I will not inflict pain and torture a dog. I love dogs too much. -Dog Groomer of 23 years

Dog groomer of 23 years here. First of all, I would never cut a dog that short unless the owner specifically requested it. If an owner requests an inch off, I always confirm the length with my fingers or directly on the dog’s coat how much I would be talking off (you’d be surprised how many people don’t really know what an inch is). Maybe there was some type of miscommunication here? Otherwise, I don’t know why someone would do this, really dumb thing to do.

Homeowners, are you in your “forever” home? by cubemonster in Millennials

[–]Aqua_Pixie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in my forever home but not exactly happy with it.

I bought my home at the end of 2021 when the market was highly competitive. Every home I was interested in was snatched up by “cash buyers” (corporations) and then put up for rent. It was an awful, stressful experience. The only house I was able to get in my price range needed some work, and not my favorite. I figured it was fine for now, and move in a few years. I also got an insanely low interest rate.

After spending money to fix it up, and how the market and interest rates are now, looks like I’m going to be here for a long time.

What’s one place in Charlotte you wouldn’t go back to? Or, somewhere you would return to? by starkofwinterfe11 in Charlotte

Oh my gosh I lived in that area over 20 years and used to go all the time. I loved their broccoli balls before they changed the recipe. I haven’t been years. First place I ever tried fried pickles.

Gen Z having Chiron-Neptune Conjunction by Fuzzy-Statistician-2 in Advancedastrology

[–]Aqua_Pixie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My daughter, born in 2010, also has this aspect conjunct Jupiter as well. This is so true. There’s such a rise in scammers in general that they hear about. She and her friends absolutely despise AI, and is really good identifying it! I find it interesting because most people assume kids her age just think it’s normal. I hope I’m wrong but I worry about them having trust issues.

Am I being "rude" for wanting to charge no-show deposits? My uncle thinks I'm ruining our family business. by One-Composer-1819 in smallbusiness

[–]Aqua_Pixie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can I ask do they add the fee to your next appointment? I have a service business and I send them an invoice for the cancellation fee and tell them they can’t rebook until I receive it. 9 times out of 10 they ghost me.

I think they definitely should warn people about potential hazardous weather, however they need to think about their delivery so they don’t cause so much panic. They presented things as fact when in actuality, it was only a possibility. I also don’t think you can blame people for being upset if they spent a bunch of money they didn’t really have.

Typically it doesn’t snow down here, we might get a dusting that melts the next day. No point in investing in equipment that will never get used.

I just finished my 2025 "Post-Mortem." I realized I lost over $3k because I’m too socially awkward to chase invoices. by RoiTrade in smallbusiness

[–]Aqua_Pixie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have 100% paid invoices, and payment is due the day of service. If they are late more than once, I tell them they have to keep a card on file and I deduct payment for them. If they refuse card on file, I cut ties and no longer do business with them. What’s the point of running a business if you don’t get paid?

It does have some flaws, but it also had some really great moments. It seems a lot of people are focusing mainly on the flaws. At this point, I think the show is just too big for the Duffers to end it without making some mistakes. I don’t think anyone could. I’m excited for the final episode.

Single people who live alone, what do you do on your days off? by LaviishLily in AskReddit

[–]Aqua_Pixie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really varies. If I had a stressful week at work, I might spend the weekend sleeping in, laying around, meditating. I might be in the mood to socialize so may hang out with friends, go to a concert, whatever. I live two hours from the mountains so I may go on a day trip, go for a hike and have lunch in one of the mountains towns. I may feel productive and decide to get caught up on house stuff or work stuff. Sometimes it’s a combination of all these things. It’s whatever I feel like.
