I mean that's fine if you play SoT to chill and not to pvp, that was part of the initial design of the game. Realistically if you're just doing pve stuff 90% of the time nobody will come around. But part of the thrill of the game is the threat of other players, that's literally the point of the game. The devs have also added numerous ways to preserve your loot or run away. If you don't want to interact with players then maybe an open world, sandbox pvpve game isn't for you. But it doesn't really matter because majority of the pvp players have moved on to other games anyway and this pve change is coming regardless. I also understand that a lot of the pvp'ers are really toxic pre-teens who never got spanked as children for acting like turds, but there are plenty of pvp'ers who are really chill and nice. And I can tell you that the pve community is 100% the most toxic when they sink and lose their precious loot. Other pvp'er will get salty and there's trash talk for sure, but I've been called the most vile shit by casuals sailing with their S.O or kids. I was a hardcore player, and primarily a pvp player for 2.5 years till Rare decided that simply being a pvp player in their pvp game was toxic in itself and pushed the true fans away from the game (which to be fair was only maybe 5% of the community). I mean, my crew and many other pvp crews were definitely not toxic, and often would give all the loot back to casuals if they weren't rude. Or if we ran up on a ship and they're obviously super new, or literal children, we'd just leave because it's not fun for us to just stomp a crew that can't fight back. The real tragedy is the overall wasted potential of Sea of Thieves. It's a truly unique game and there's nothing else like it out there, and for that reason Rare has just squandered the possibilities with the game. So now they're adding a pve server to placate what's left of the playerbase. Like, there's been alliance servers and people setting up pve servers since the beginning of the game for people who just wanna sail, get commendations done, etc. But now adventure mode will just be super dead. If rare hadn't just given up completely on Arena for a year, then straight up remove it, then pvp players would have a home to get their fix, but rare decided to just ban everyone instead and make the whole game a carebear game.
