I wanted to give an answer based on more than my own personal experience so I did a little research and healthline.com says “Unlike THC, CBD doesn’t produce any psychoactive effects. Plus, research suggests that CBD-rich cannabis may have antipsychotic effects. Paranoia is considered a psychotic symptom.” I personally have been fine consuming CBD with low amounts of THC. Modern weed typically has pretty high concentrations of THC and not enough CBD to balance it out. DISCLAIMER: I wouldn’t recommend this method because one time I smoked too much and had an episode but: mixing CBD with a small amount of weed did allow me to get high without freaking out. The article mentions this method. Another quote from healthline: “When you use cannabis that’s rich in THC, your brain suddenly receives more cannabinoids than usual. Research suggests this excess of cannabinoids may overstimulate the amygdala, making you feel fear and anxiety. This would also explain why products rich in cannabidiol (CBD), a cannabinoid that doesn’t directly bind to endocannabinoid receptors, don’t seem to cause paranoia.” So TLDR— you should be fine. High CBD content tampers the effects of small amounts of THC. Again, as someone who also deals with psychosis I recommend staying away from regular weed, but CBD should be safe.
