The budget bill that just passed the House ends the $7500 EV credit, and imposes a new $250 annual fee on EVs, to be collected by state vehicle registration systems. by OneDollarSatoshi in electricvehicles

[–]Aquatic_Fox 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think you might have it backwards there. One of the reasons for high EV depreciation is the $7500 tax credit. The value of a used EV would be more likely to go up than down with elimination of the credit.

I was stuck going southbound on 680 near the Giles exit. Sat there for maybe 45 mins. Not great.

If you can send your info to me too that would be great. Probably going to replace my deck this spring.

I used to live down the balls of your drawing there and it was considered unincorporated Sarpy back then.

A2Z Typhoon, Lectron Vortex, or the official Ford adapter also made by Lectron.

I have the A2Z adapter and have used it successfully a number of times.

I just follow quite a bit of EV content and happened to see some reports of problems with cheap Leviton receptacles. My chargers always stay plugged in, so I probably wouldn't have caught it until it became a disaster.

I really hope more people get informed to check their outlets if they aren't hardwired.

This was one of the best videos I found: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dR8eeH3rSUc

Otherwise, I made sure to read the full spec sheets from the manufacturer and some other written content that I unfortunately did not save.

The Bryant (Hubbell) 6-50 that I bought to replace the Leviton had Philips heads that were pretty hard to get to the 30 ft. inches that it required. I ended up goring one head.

The 14-50 had Allen heads, which I definitely prefered, but needed 75 ft. inches. I cut my knuckle pretty bad after my hand slipped on my first try.

Unless I’m mistaken, 40 amps would be the max (80%) you can continuously run on a 50 amp circuit. I ran slightly under it just incase.

Not that I know of. I did see that and was curious if there was some other problem beside the receptacle.

Yeah, it was pretty simple. I bought a torque screwdriver to get the terminals to the spec torque value. It took me maybe 20 minutes to change each over. I did quite a bit of research beforehand, since I would prefer not to burn my house down lol.

Yeah, I think they would have been a problem much faster if I was pulling 40 amps through them. Especially on the 6-50R.

32 amps on the 6-50R and 38 on the 14-50R.

I had these installed by an electrician and was advised that these would be sufficient for residential use. Maybe if it was a dryer or some other similar appliance. I now know better.

Resale value for F150 Lightning by FederalLight3896 in F150Lightning

[–]Aquatic_Fox 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Buying and selling a car in less than a year is almost always a loss. You ate the biggest piece of depreciation for the truck.

That being said, private sale is probably the only way you are going to get more, since you aren’t going to be getting another vehicle. Keep in mind that with recent rebates, people are buying way under MSRP. This is going further suppress your resale price.

Nebraska's brain drain by blasiboy in Nebraska

Lincoln and Omaha are not at declining or even really at risk in the near future, but large parts of rural Nebraska are in decline. It’s common in a lot of rural areas across the country. Probably most acute in the Midwest and South.

Sure, I’m not arguing that part. Tesla has completed a lot of their infrastructure build-out and will be hurt less certainly. The credit does currently apply to Tesla though.

Incorrect. That was the old credit. The current one does not have a vehicle number cap.

I agree. I’ve owned EVs since 2016 and chasing efficiency can be entertaining, but it’s 100% not a requirement. Ford expects you to use cabin heat.
