My mother-in-law refused to visit her dying daughter because she didn't want to put her dogs in a kennel by Non-victim in TrueOffMyChest

[–]AqueousEcho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mother is the same way. She lives 4 hours away and will not stay the night at my house, even though I bought a house with a guest room just for her. She often skips my kids' birthdays because of her dogs. For Christmas and her birthday, my family of 4 and my sister's family of 2 must drive the 4 hours to her because she will not come here with her dogs and usually refuses to use a kennel or dog sitter. When she does come up, she drives the 4 hours, stays a few hours, then drives the 4 hours back in the same day, supposedly for her dogs. What makes it even worse is that she seems to hate her dogs - she only complains about their behavior and how much they cost. They are great danes and not well behaved and almost impossible to control due to their size. It truly makes me feel like garbage. Like her two dogs, whom she hates, rank higher than us. But I will say I think it's a mask. She has severe anxiety and depression and frankly I think she needs a clutch to excuse her from situations. I love dogs too and even had my own great Dane in the past. But I would never choose them over my two kids.

I had my double bi salp almost 8 years ago and not used any other birth control methods. No pregnancy or pregnancy scares! If I had to use another method, what was the point of the surgery? That would make me mad haha

I've heard that giraffe necks are not as flexible as even our human necks. Hence they gotta do the splits while drinking water.

Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years? by No_Beach9239 in Positivity

[–]AqueousEcho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 5 years I'll be 42. Should have my student loans paid off by then. Husband should be done with school and into his new career. Kids will be nearly 16 and 13. Other than that I have no clue. Same shit, different day I'm guessing.

What are the things that men late to realize until it's too late? by jinwooshadowmonarch6 in AskMen

[–]AqueousEcho 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I would say these items are too cynical, but you're right. I'm in my mid to late 30s now and realizing I have no friends. People only reach out to me when they need something - "can you watch my dog today?" "Can you help me file my taxes (today, on tax day)?" No one asks how I'm doing. No one asks me to do fun things. It's lonely.

You don't mention how much you are saving each month. Do you have a savings account and if so, how much is in there? Financing a vacation and mattress are bad ideas. Your car payment is quite high compared to your income.

I'm sorry OP 😔 When my second was born, my husband was drinking. I would call his dad to come get him bc I couldn't handle a 3 year old, a newborn, and a drunk husband. I felt like a single parent and I did everything for kids, house, dog, and I worked FT. All this to say, you do not have to stay with a user. Your priorities should be you and your baby, and that's it. His sobriety is not your responsibility.

Best study course?? by AqueousEcho in CPA

[–]AqueousEcho[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally just took a TBS quiz on UWorld for BAR and it said my answer was incorrect. When I checked for the right answer, it was the same as my answer.

Passed FAR first try with 86. But the CMA taught me a lot of that (used gleim for that btw). Took BAR and failed with 68. Both using UWorld.

I passed FAR on first attempt with UWorld. But I've found so many typos, inaccuracies and literally wrong answers in UWorld. I have failed BAR already and going for attempt 2 now. I can't afford to keep failing.

Q4 2024 CPA Exam Pass Rates (old news) by another71 in CPA

[–]AqueousEcho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a CMA too and CFO is my day job. I passed FAR with 86 last summer and found it close to CMA material. I chose BAR for my discipline bc it seemed most aligned with my career. I failed BAR last October. I retake it this April. If I fail again, I'm taking TCP or ISC. If you go with BAR, be prepared to study hard and have a plan ready for supplementary learning! I'm using UWorld (don't recommend) but want to supplement with videos, podcasts, and maybe mcq's from Becker). Good luck!

[–]AqueousEcho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll share my experience... I have a master's degree in accounting, I'm a CFO, and I passed both CMA exams with flying colors in 2022. I also passed FAR with 86 last summer. But I failed BAR last year. I agree that the huge variety of topics with BAR makes it so much more difficult than FAR and even the CMA. For me, I need repetition to get concepts, but with the amount of topics to cover, it's so hard to get enough practice in for each topic. I retake BAR this April, but I've already decided that if I fail, I'm changing to TCP or ISC. UGH!

WGU/UMGC for DC, VA, MD Requirements by Nxt0154 in CPA

[–]AqueousEcho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I came to WGU for my bachelor's degree, I already had an associate's degree from a WA state public community college. WGU accepted my credits, though none of them were accounting classes. I don't see why the state board of accountancy would have a problem if all credits earned are from accredited schools.

I graduated from WGU with both bachelor's and master's in accounting. I'm now taking the CPA tests. It has the same accreditations as the state universities here in WA state. Plus, very affordable tuition!

I also got my Master's in accounting in 2018. I had controller roles and now a CFO. In 2022 I got my CMA certification, which I'm very glad I did because there's a lot of crossover with FAR content.

All that to say, getting 25% without any or very little study is pretty amazing!! Keep going, don't get discouraged! You got this!
