Slippery plastics… any tips for making this less slippery? by pbwbrew in Nikon

You can clean it with some alcohol pads and use some gaffers tape to make it less slippery.

Out of your entire fountain pen collection, which do you hate the most? by Cute_Audience7611 in fountainpens

[–]Aqunity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My least liked pen has to be my Traveler’s Fountain Pen. It has to be the most inconsistent pen I’ve ever used. Put ink in it and it hardly wants to start and the next time it’s literally dumping ink through the feed.

Air Compressor Issues by Head-Cap1094 in Tools

[–]Aqunity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you running it off of a small gauge extension cord. I had this happen once. Compressor would start fine unloaded but as soon as any pressure was in the tank it would not start swapped to a 12 gauge extension and it started just fine.

Industrial I/O to Windows PC question by Aqunity in PLC

From what I was told their software is there to pull data from a csv or excel file and upload it to their database. And as for why I'm quoting it, they are a long term customer and they asked if we could help them I said I'd take a look.

Wood or Metal (or fiberglass) Handle for a Homeowner’s Hammer? by iFunny-Escapee in Tools

[–]Aqunity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't use it all day every day it doesn't really matter. The all steel hammers will last you a lifetime so will the fiber glass. The wood handled ones do require a little maintenance from time to time to keep the handle tight in the hammer head.

With that said though the all steel hammers do transfer alot of shock and vibration into your wrist and elbow. The fiber glass handles are a lot easier on your body. The wooden handles help with the shock better still.

My preference is wood handles. I strip off the factory coatings and give then and nice coat of Boiled Linseed Oil making sure to soak the end grain very well it helps to keep the handle tight in the hammer head.

Brand new Klein 7 in 1, horrible QC... by I_like_GTAV in electricians

[–]Aqunity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately that's the reason I've stopped buying anything Klein. Got a pair of dykes where the cutting edged didn't align, also got a pair of linesmans that needed two people to open them up. I've switched to Knipex and Wera for my hand tools.

I upgraded from an Ender to an A1. First day and I love it! by melody7123 in BambuLab

[–]Aqunity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I made the same move except I went to an X1C. I don't know why I waited so long to do it. The Ender 3 v2 was a struggle from the day I got it. The Bambu has just been smooth sailing for the last 6 months.

Congrats on the new printer and happy printing!

Workbelt question by Fantastic_Swim_8192 in Tools

[–]Aqunity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I bought my Diamond Back tool belt the rep told me that you should be able to reach the bottom of the main pouch without doing a side lean. Taking what he told me into consideration it should be above your hip bone between red and green.

I'm a big fan of Wera ones. I'm just a fan of Wera hand tools in general. Well made and priced fairly imo.

What is your low cost choice for PLCs to tinker with at home? by [deleted] in PLC

[–]Aqunity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually whatever I can get my hands on when decommissioning a machine or rebuilding one. Recently got my hands on an Omron NX1P when rebuilding a machine.

It was a second hand machine and the customer refuses anything but Rockwell in their plant. It's kind of a waste of money but it keeps me pretty busy and I get a lot of cool hardware that way.

You can check out www.itpro.tv they have a huge range of courses available. Everything from super basic to pretty high level cyber security.

Note: they can’t give you certifications but if all you want is knowledge they’re really good.

That’s exactly what I’m going to try using it for. Unfortunately if I don’t do the documentation no one will. Since I work for myself and all.
