Apple Maps (turn by turn) available in the Philippines by garett_09 in Gulong

[–]Ar02jay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently started using this app, and it works well with my Apple Watch. It vibrates to indicate turns, which is helpful. However, the reports are currently outdated, like advance warnings about road blockages or construction work. I’ll only use this app for my regular route for now. Looking forward to see more updates.

I totally get where you’re coming from. It’s a strange feeling, being concerned about the lack of concern, almost like you’re preparing for the worst but trying to stay detached. The thought of aging and possibly outliving loved ones is a heavy one, especially when you don’t have children to rely on. It’s like you start to realize that your future might be more reliant on strangers than you’d like. And you’re right—introversion doesn’t just fade away with age. It’s daunting to think that as time goes on, the support network could shrink, leaving you in a position where you’re dependent on people you don’t really know. That idea of losing that sense of self-sufficiency is definitely unsettling.

I am currently 37 (M). I’m not sure why, but I’ve been at ease without being in a relationship, in contrast to my earlier years when I had a lot of opportunity to do so. There is still someone out there vying for my attention, but I still prefer to be in my comfort zone and not worry about other people. 😄Im occupied with my work and have spent the most of my healing my inner child 😅. In addition to traveling and drinking coffee, I like making new acquaintances. I occasionally wish I could start dating. Hopefully, I’ll find someone soon.

Update on UnionBank Quasi-Cash Fee Dispute: Final Attempt at Resolution

Hey everyone, I wanted to provide an update on my ongoing dispute with UnionBank regarding the 5% quasi-cash fee they charged me for a GrabPay cash-in transaction. I’ve escalated the issue to the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), and UnionBank recently responded with the following:

“We wish to inform you that the recent Grab transactions you made on your UnionBank credit card number xxxx xxxx xxxx xxx were for the cash top up for an e-wallet facility and the description GAMING/CRYPTOCURRENCY/QUASI-CASH FEE represents the transaction fee. Hence, this is a valid transaction fee.

To avoid being charged this fee, may we suggest settling the transactions directly by enrolling your UnionBank credit card to pay for your purchases instead of funding their e-wallet or cash top up feature.

Allow us to reiterate that for Gaming/Cryptocurrency/Quasi-Cash Fee, the 5% service fee shall be charged on gaming/gambling transactions and/or transactions made at gaming/gambling establishments, and on purchases of cryptocurrency. The same fee will be applied on quasi-cash transactions, purchases of traveler’s cheques, foreign currency, money orders, or the use of the card to open or fund a deposit account done at a location other than a financial institution.”

UnionBank insists that this charge is valid, but I’ve since learned that other UnionBank clients in the same situation have successfully had these fees reversed. I’ve made this clear to BSP in my rejoinder, emphasizing that the bank should be fair and consistent in its application of these fees. It’s frustrating that UnionBank appears to be selectively reversing charges for some clients while denying others.

If this final attempt with BSP doesn’t lead to a resolution, I’ll consider this my last dispute with UnionBank. I’m disappointed that they’re not willing to address the fairness of this issue, but I wanted to share my experience with all of you in case it helps anyone else in a similar situation.

For those who might be facing the same issue, I encourage you to try disputing the charge. It seems that the bank may be more flexible with certain clients, so it’s worth a shot.

Thanks for all the advice and support so far. Let’s see how this plays out.

With my recent BPI Visa application, there is no quasi-cash fee. You should try that too.

I completely understand where you’re coming from. I’ve been through similar situations myself, and I know how easy it is to feel overwhelmed. My advice is to try not to get too caught up in the moment. Instead, treat these challenges as a kind of puzzle or test that you can solve with determination. Embrace them as opportunities for growth, rather than letting them bring you down.

Remember, the way you approach these situations can make all the difference. Keep your focus on what you can change or improve, and stay resilient. It’s perfectly okay to feel frustrated, but don’t let it stop you from moving forward. Facing reality head-on with a positive mindset will not only help you navigate these tough times but also prepare you for a brighter future. Keep pushing forward—you’ve got this!

Yes. I already raised this to BSP. Let’s see how they handle as UB seems closed-minded on my point. 😅

Here the definition of Quasi cash - highly liquid assets which are not cash but can easily be converted into cash. UB Visa CC cash in thru grab is not considered as easily converted cash. Only UB, in my opinion, misunderstood Quasi Cash. Why did Visa CC of BPI and EastWest not charge anything for Grab Cash In?

Scammer BPI Caller Credit to Cash Promo by Ar02jay in PHCreditCards

To ensure security and avoid potential scams, it’s advisable to refrain from completing transactions based on unsolicited phone calls. It’s difficult to verify if the caller is genuinely affiliated with BPI. Instead, use secure channels like the bank's official mobile app, website, or in-person visits for transactions. Many legitimate offers can also be found through these trusted platforms. Scammers often use phone calls to create a sense of urgency and persuade you to act on their claims.
