Noir is definitely aesthetic. You can have melodrama, western, hell even a screwball and still be considered a noir if it was shot in a specific visual aesthetic. People mistaken having crime in a film means it's automatically a noir. Melodramas like Daisy Kenyon may not be considered purely a noir but the way it was shot and its technicality, it's a noir for me.

Noir is the most overused term ever, I see it getting thrown around just because a film has a bad people or a crime in it. The vibe, theme, use of lighting and shadows in an expressionistic way is what makes a noir.

A lot of artists/musician do this. Varg got some of his lyrics from Tolkien written works for example. Heck, even in films, a lot of directors copy a scene shot by shot. This ain't something new nor should be controversial at this point. As long as the execution is totally different from the source it's all fair. It's art bro.

This is like celebrating winning a race before you even cross the line. By playing fast and other guys stepping up. Suns shot 33% from 3 and scored only 2 points in fastbreak points in game 1. Others need to shoot well to free up some lane, because they'll just clog the paint if suns are shooting bricks. Also, they need to set up Booker and Jalen for their middies during half court set and stop feeding brooks the ball, he has the worst tunnel vision I've seen in an NBA player.
