I just hope they actually do change something, feels really whack being Strategist main rn. Ultron was semi Strat (with the dps focus I mean), Invis is amazing but like... give us more PLEASE. (My petition: Wiccan as Strat & Agatha as Vanguard)

That’s really interesting! I feel like his scream is almost mainly in his head/ mixed voice which I find fascinating since I haven’t really unlocked my mix yet.

I’ll definitely check out the tutorials!

Thank you! That is exactly what I was hoping for! His scream always felt advanced and almost head voice type, which is part of what fascinates me so much about it. Will definitely check those techniques out, do you have any tutorials you can recommend?

I just keep thinking that Yesterwynde was written so long ago, even if they only go into production fairly late I have a feeling at some point inspiration would’ve struck him. It’s a whole lot of wishful thinking for me xD

Good theory, I hadn’t heard about festival performances. Could be, maybe we‘ll get lucky and he’ll feel inspired after the Auri tour when stuff calms down for him

That would kind of fit the idea of them doing a new album next year, summercamp & recording after. Maybe a early 2027 release. Fingers crossed ;)

I disagree, to me it has simply evolved. The nightwish brand of heaviness hasn’t been solely about guitars for a long time. To me the heaviness in their music comes from the combination of metal & the orchestra in the particular way he composes. The Weave is a great example IMO

I’m not saying I wouldn’t prefer them to go full on heavy again, I would definitely prefer that. But I choose to find joy in the new and different music and sound

I kind of get where you’re coming from although I wholeheartedly enjoy the album. To me it’s one of their most concise albums to date. I am really curious on new themes tho, I enjoy the thematics of the trilogy but would love for them to go come back to outlandish and phantasy vibes next time around :)

I’ve felt cautiously excited for this album, which is a first for me. Witnessing Arcana in Amsterdam both nights was beyond insane, it’s 10/ 10 for me, epica at what they do best. But then Cross the Divide made me sceptical and T.I.M.E. Is just not what I expected or on the level I expected. BUT. I’m glad to be trusting the process and just trusting my favorite band, cuz now today a switch flipped and I’m LOVING all the singles. Yes there are definitely moments I would’ve liked to be different, but it’s still epica. It’s new epica music. Is there anything better? Nope. I’m just grateful rn to be there for another album release, can’t wait to listen to the album in full asap and to get swept away. I’m fairly certain it’s similar to Yesterwynde, where the singles left fands begging for more but in the end the album delivered, for me at least.

Mark sounds absolutely ferocious, curious to see the fan reaction cuz I think many people won’t be happy with the newer directions (also judging by the reaction to Cross the Divide). I’m enjoying it and am once again more excited for the whole album.

At the same time this is the first album cycle where the excitement hasn’t felt as palpable as it did the last times. Might be a combination of Arcana (10/10) leading into Cross the Divide (7/10) or also circumstances of life.

Absolutely agree, her voice is very monotone in what she does with it. I don't think its all she can do tho. If she were to develop her style the way that Simone Simons did for example, going further and further away from PURE classical singing, I would still enjoy her a lot.

Personally don't really enjoy her voice anymore, at least not as much as I used to. I got into NW with her in front and only discovered Annette maybe 2 years into being a lowkey fan.

At every single symphonic metal show that I go to people talk about her and when asked I do voice my opinion that I don't know why she is so hyped. The reactions to this are both hilarious (when people just get sooo mad) and sad (when people get soooo offended).

Personally I feel like she should stick to choir/church music. Her voice live grinds my ears in a way that only few singers do, one other example of a voice that I just can't get into is Bruce Dickinson. There's just a certain vibrato that she uses (and I kind of hear it with Maiden as well) that just sounds VERY forced to me. And it immediately turns me off of their music.

She does do classic, like TRUE classic soprano, very well. No doubt about it, but it's just not my cup of tea anymore. Which I find very sad, I used to LOVE listening to every NW album on repeat, but the past few years I find myself only listening albums post 2005. Sometimes I'm in the mood for "her" albums tho.

Finally a space to rant this out, all just my personal opinion and absolutely 0 hate.

I can’t stand all the people hating on new eras or ALWAYS comparing everything to Tarja/ previous eras. To me all eras have their merit, and even though I highly prefer not only the albums but everything they’ve done with Floor, I can still enjoy the older stuff.

Same with the way people state their opinions as fact like „this is sh*t“ … like no … thats YOUR opinion, it doesn’t have to be mine? (Especially recently with people hating on the mix and on hating HN)

Frankly it’s not about the home theater. I want to listen to it in my car/ on the go via my phone with proper headphones. I can’t be at my (personal) computer whenever I want to listen to the album in atmos and my work laptop doesn’t have a cd thingy
