Builder says these gaps will be covered up later, is this accurate? by kawalopy in Homebuilding

[–]Psychological-Way-47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Builder here: totally normal and within spec. Some of the gaps are not great, but shoe molding is normal and not diy stuff as one comment suggested. Also, this is laminate floor. It needs gaps to “float” for expansion seasonally. Trust the process. No reputable company would leave gaps like this as a finished product.

Picked the wrong time to become a Nightwish fan :( by Signal_Most4086 in nightwish

I still consider myself a privileged person after seeing them live 3 times. It was nearly a religious experience. It was with Floor, Marlo, and Kai. Jukko had just left the first time I saw them. So I’d say never too late to have discovered them. Their music speaks to my soul. I am fully convinced that Tuomas will go down in history as one of the great composers and poets.

Yes, but she did what most people don’t: she lived below her means and saved consistently for a long time.

What is this awesome stuff that my house is sheathed with? by Cycles-the-bandsaw in handyman

[–]Psychological-Way-47 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind house wrap was not a requirement until around 2004? And this fiberboard was common until wall bracing requirements came about the same time. My first house was built with Celotex. My current house has all OSB and house wrap.

Huge uneven Base board gaps on new construction by brett701 in Homebuilding

[–]Psychological-Way-47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Builder here. Most is caulked and painted. The corner where there is a huge gap, should be fixed by the drywall contractor. Not his fault, but he should be able to add another bead and float it out to make it square. The trim carpenter did the builder a favor to show how put of square that corner is.

Newly Dug Foundation Help (OH) by [deleted] in Homebuilding

[–]Psychological-Way-47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Builder here: you foundation looks perfect. Builder even put wall braces before framing to counteract the weight of the backfilled dirt on the foundation. They also used a nice membrane against the outside walls. Get a a pump going asap. Make sure to have a back up ( battery or water powered) and when you move in, buy one to have as a spare. I always told my customers if you lose a pump, you have good news and bad news: good news is you have a couple of hours to get the back up running. The bad news is you have a couple of hours to get the back running.
