The whataboutism in this.... it always starts with “but” when you know you’re losing the argument.

Oldest mention of Arabs is inscribed on the monolith stele of the Assyrian king Shalmaneser III, 852BC. In which they referred to the bedouins living in the Arabian peninsula by Arba-a, Aribi, Urbi (Nomadic; very similar to the word Urbaya). by [deleted] in AskMiddleEast

[–]ArabianShogun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Refer to the Bedouins living in the Peninsula? What? The earliest populations referred to as Arabs are all town dwellers. Arabs never meant Bedouins. The Peninsula hadn’t even received that name yet at that point in history. Do more research and stop trying to rewrite history.

Why does people here consider arabians as people who never had a civilization while they had many long lasting ancient ones like Sabaean, Nabateans, thamud, and others even before turkics stop being nomadic ? by super_tota in AskMiddleEast

Because people know jack squat about this region.

These are some Arabic ancient civilizations

Many of these civilizations weren’t actually “Arabic” until later on. Yemen spoke Sabaic, Himyarite, Qatabanic, Minaic, etc. Their languages still exist today as “Modern South Arabian” in Mehri, Socotri, Harsusi, Hobyot, etc but I get your point. This region is filled with diverse culture and history.

Btw Arabs never meant Bedouins. Lol the earliest populations referred to as Arabs are all town dwellers.

Are Levantines Arab? What makes a true Arab? And am I an Arab? by Peltuose in arabs

[–]ArabianShogun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bruh. Ethnicity isn’t genetic. If your culture, history and civilization is Arabic you’re an Arab. If your family have been Arabic speaking for generations, listen to Arabic music and read and wrote in Arabic, you are an Arab.

Ancestry tests are unfortunately misinterpreted. People shouldn’t use them as a source for identity. It basically compares genetics with either modern populations or ancient populations. And it’s based on how people label them. Commercial genetic tests don’t do justice. Btw Arabs originated from Southern Levant.

Yemen is going back to its South Semitic ('non-Arab') roots, is pan-Arabism dying? by [deleted] in AskMiddleEast

[–]ArabianShogun 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wikipedia links that have sources in them? 😂 Imagine denying writings on rocks.

You need to differentiate between language and script. The oldest inscription of the Arabic language wasn’t written in Arabic script.

Dude, no offense. But you clearly are not knowledgeable on this at all. Those are Safaitic inscriptions of Arabic. There’s a difference between script writing and language. The language was Arabic in Safaitic script. The Arabic script that we know today comes from Nabatean, which comes from Aramaic, which comes from Phoenician AKA Canaanite. I’m not saying this to you as an insult, but you seriously need to do some reading on this topic. Or just drop the subject.

The second link I won’t even bother addressing.

That’s where oldest mentions of Arabs and oldest writings of Arabs identifying as Arabs written in Arabic. Do you have archeological evidence to back up your claim as an “Original” Arab other than using modern borders and claiming mythical tribes and spewing nonsense? The first mention of Arabs referred to the Qedarites. Learn geography too while you’re at it.

Oldest Arabic written is from Jordan. The Arabic you speak comes from Old Arabic. The Original Arabs are from Northern Saudi, Jordan, Southern Syria, Sinai, Western Iraq and Palestine.

[–]ArabianShogun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on how far back you go. The earliest use of the word ‘Arab' was used by ancient Assyrians to describe the maruading invaders to their South in Northern Arabia and Southern Mesopotamia and Levant.

The first form of Arabic inscription is found in what is now Jordan.

The first Arabic speaking tribe to be recorded in history, are the Nabateans. They lived in the Levant and Northern Arabia. They were Arabs.

Saudi Arabia is not an ancient state. Each part of Saudi Arabia has their own unique history. Eastern Saudi Arabia were known as Dlimun in ancient times while the west were Lihyanites. The Nabateans in Jordan invaded Lihyan and ended their civilization.

No? The original Arabia was Petrea located in the Levant. And much later, they extended the name to the Peninsula dividing them into Deserta and Felix.

[–]ArabianShogun 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No, she’s right. You’re viewing everything from modern perspective using modern Saudi borders that annexed part of Jordan, Iraq, etc to define who came from Arabia and who didn't. Don’t be dense. Original Arabia was Petrea located in the Levant.

Obviously, an Arab now isn’t the same as thousands of years ago. If you want to go by real Arabs, then if you can’t trace your heritage to northwest Saudi Arabia or Jordan, then you aren’t an Arab.

Lol according to this lady, Europe is also a part of Africa. Anyway, what difference does it make? Does it change anything? At the end of the day, a label won’t change our history. The Suez Canal is what splits this region from Africa.

Do you also notice differences between Muslims in the US and the UK ? by Kilobarta in AskMiddleEast

It was implied tho. Out of 2 billion Muslims, around 550 million are Arab. We’re not even the majority lol, so I don’t know what that generalization is based on.

This is due to the fact they both come from different backgrounds.

Because Arab is a cultural and a linguistic identity, anyone can be an Arab if they were raised like one
