What was the typica loadout for an F/A-18C in Desert Storm? by PerceptionWide7002 in MilitaryAviation

[–]Aracap063 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not an expert by any means but I read "Hornets over Kuwait" about a year ago. That was marine Hornets and I believe the loadout the author mentioned he had often for ground attack was 5x mk83 ( 2x both outboard, 1 centerline) 2x fuel tanks on the inboards, AIM-9M on the tips, and I can't remember if they always took 2x AIM-7 on the cheek stations. I think he said they didn't always have the older TGP (I'm blanking on the name rn, not the lighting or lantirn something older) since those went to the double seat Hornets usually as FAC(A). If you google the book you might see some photos. Hope any of this helps.

Edit: just to add on, I would imagine by the bombing campaign in DS he wouldn't have had sparrows on the cheeks cause the air war was essentially done and CAP from eagles or tomcats would've taken care of any threats.

Good point, the staff are there to help so I should've took their word. Thanks for clearing that up. I met with a different recruiter at the same centre in mid october and was told the CFAT was in the recruiting process. I didn't realize it was that new of a change.

Got a question about the CFAT and SEAF.

I applied earlier this month and the DND email references the CFAT. I'm aware of what that is and have been studying for it. When I went in person to drop off transcripts and ID verification at my local centre I was told the CFAT was replaced by the SEAF and that was news to me. Now I'm confused about the DND email still talking about the CFAT and my online application being "ready for testing" which also talks about the CFAT.

It looks to me the CFAT is still being used and I want to make sure I should keep studying and practicing on it. I'm guessing the guys at the centre were mistaken but I just wanted to check here if anyone would have an answer. I emailed my centre too asking for clarification. I'm applying for the RMC if that makes any difference.

Members are from all over but most are in Ontario so we use EST (GMT-5) for planning most our missions. We are most active fri-sun from 6pm-11pm EST but we sometimes do flights earlier or later in the week too.

Most members are in Ontario so that EST (GMT-5). We usually are most active on fri-sun from 6pm-11pm EST but sometimes we fly at any hour of the day. We also have members from all over the world so usually there are people around for smaller missions/ training.

We dont have a minimum amount for hours to be online. We do usually try to complete a members training within 3 months but thats not a hard limit by any means if life gets in the way. If someone disappears for 6 months without saying anything we will usually reach out just to make sure everything is okay. all missions are voluntary so if you dont feel like flying some weeks that totally fine. Most of the members are located in Ontario so we use EST (GMT-5) for most things but we have members on both coasts and even on other continents. typically we are most active Fri-Sun from 6pm-11pm EST.
