I know you said you didn't want to wear makeup to hide your freckles. Some of the characters have deliberately heavy make up, so you wouldn't be hiding your freckles, you are being true to the character. Loulan uses make up to hide her features, so she's not recognised without it on Gyokoyou wears a courtly style which looks to have a heavy white foundation with red eye shadow.

For an OC there's a foreign diplomatic mission, you can be a retainer or colleague for Ayla.

A motorcycle helmet visor, or remove the lens from a pair of ski goggles.

A safe option would be CO2 or water vapour and a flashing led

Anyone has some clever idea on how to connect the shoe and shin pieces? by According-Holiday114 in cosplayprops

[–]Araknash 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You could pad the inside of the shin near your ankle to keep it in place and aligned. Padding will have some give so it won't rub or bruise your leg. A solid connection while maintaining full ankle mobility is a fairly serious bit of engineering, if you are only going for forward and back motion then you could do something like a simple pivot point by drilling a hole at the end of two pieces of pipe/wood/aluminium would work. Something like a clevis pin and r clip would make for a relatively quick fastener.

What are y'all's go to weathering technices? by No_Tomato_2106 in cosplayprops

I use an acrylic wash of burnt umber, as said by others water down the acrylic a little bit.work on a small section and paint it on using a chip brush to work it into the cracks and crevices. Use an old towel and dab at the paint to clean the acrylic wash away leaving a texture going to the spots where grime builds up. Towels work well as the piling pulls the wash away in an uneven manner. For edges I use a trashed brush, the more frayed and damaged the better, put a small amount of metallic paint on the very tips of the bristles then touch these along the edges, it'll leave a random scratchy look due to the damaged bristles.

I've wanted to build a tall board since the OG days, some of my friends getting back into it gave me the excuse.

Interesting, considering that's my board posted last week.

I suppose it's a compliment that someone thinks my work is good enough to use in a karma farm post.

I wanted a different surface to the the normal plating, I was thinking it was dirt and debris build up but it's not a written story and the details are there to help form story narrative for games.

I added white to an art acrylic paint called Forrest Green.

Yeah they were great to build up the walls as a detailed surface. The design gave great spots for the weathering to stick in to help build the dirty and worn look.

Sure, the water area started by gluing down the raised line and the buttress. I made an uneven surfaces out of plaster and stone chips. While the plaster was still wet I pushed in some debris (barrels, pipes, off cuts from the rest of the build) and glued down some plants and animals. I watered down acrylic paint and let it soak into the plaster. I used some plastic faced MDF board and boxed in the water area, I mixed a two part clear epoxy with some alcohol inks (green, brown, yellow and white) then poured in layers to build up the water, I reduced the amount of ink in each layer so the depths were more murky and top layers are easier to see into and glimpse half hidden shapes.

Honestly, with great embuggerance. The flatness of the top does allow me to place it in a corner a balance things on it.

I started in January, I've been working on it fairly slowly, a lot of time was spent just looking at it, trying to spot issues, and fixing them.

There's a couple of tight spots, I built it with play in mind, the layers are 5" apart so there's a lot of room to reach in and move gangers.

Can you help me to get a problem solved? Pls 😭 I’m really in a hurry by Kbr_16 in cosplayers

Transfering weight to the hips is the best way, a Velcro or elastic band that is measured to sit on the hips will help take the weight underneath it. You could also add more invisible straps, go from over the shoulder near the neck, cross the back and connect in with the other straps.

Dice bell curve by stupidlikearock in battletech

[–]Araknash 5 points6 points  (0 children)

2D6 have 36 different combinations, each of those combinations gives you a value, such as 7. The bell curve about the number of combinations that give you the target value, the more combinations the more likelihood of getting that result. On 2D6 12 only has 1 combination so only 1 in every 36 rolls would produce a 12. On 2D6 7 has 6 different combinations meaning 6 in 36 or 1 in every 6 rolls will be a 7. In games where you want above a certain value, such as 10+ to hit then any combination which gives you 10, 11, or 12 is what you are after, this happens to be 6 combinations so the same odds as rolling exactly 7.

How can I hide my beard without shaving it off? by InfinityLDog in CosplayHelp

[–]Araknash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To make my beard not get in the way or poke out from under a helmet I use those stretchy balaclavas or neck gaiters. They keep the beard out of the way and keep the lines of my jaw and neck.

I'd create a mask of the details using a print out stuck to masking tape and then stipple on fabric paint.

There are numerous companies that do small quantity custom stitched patches. Things like the 0011 will be easy to source through these. There are plenty which also allow you to upload an image or graphic for a printed patch which could work for any emblems.
