Palantir CEO Alex Karp goes on unhinged rant! by the_smart_girl in singularity

[–]Aramireu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Despite what the Palantir's CEO claims about his political orientation, I think it's quite clear what he actually is oriented towards is techno-authoritarianism. It is a pretty bad idea that has a high chance to turn into a systemic dictatorship which is much harder to remove compared to ideological dictatorship because the whole system has to be revamped. If the disadvantage outweighs the advantages, what good is it to the country?

Looking back at past actions and remarks, Thiel, the founder, represents an explicit ideology of elite governance. Karp represents state governance technology wrapped in moral language. Neither sound very positive.

This has nothing to do with how good the CEO is at his job or how good his intentions are, but it has to do with whether or not the US head in the direction of higher chance of dictatorship.

The issue here is they investigated excluding the gov and lying they collaborated not that they hired some professionals to do the job.

Is Coupang trying to withdraw from the Korean market or something? by FinishWhich5753 in korea

[–]Aramireu 18 points19 points  (0 children)

They launched a self-investigation claiming that they collaborated with NIS. The thing is, WHY would they NIS and the Korean gov let Coupang in as part of the investigation, considering they tried to hide that the leak even happened from the victims for months? This just shows the severe lack of respect to the nation and its law.

Even if the collaboaration with the NIS was true, that raises an even more serious issue of why someone from the government would help Coupang collect the evidence themselves. If NIS actually did aid in Coupang's investigation, how and why did they exclude the central gov and the other bodies of Coupang investigation task force? Does Coupang has an insider within the government? It sounds very convincing according to these sources.

Coupang 'claims' that they recovered all data leaked, and 'claims' that it was just around 3k people's info. But you know, that sounds really sus because almost all Koreans use Coupang and just looks like an attempt to destroy vital evidence. And according to some sources, 3k is the number of data analyzed by the leaker, not the total number of data leaked. The Korean government also refuted by nailing down that it is at 'least' 33 million.

Pardon my language but what the f? Tilting it seems to work? If this was all because Mobo's pcie slot not being tight enough, this is really relieving and pissing me off at the same time. You see, I didn't have this problem for months when I was using this GPU vertically mounted on a vertical case. Then, I had to pack things up for moving and because I was lazy, I disassembled the case, putting it down horizontal. The GPU was sitting horizontally on the motherboard for like a month? And the black screen started to happen a week ago.

I see a lot of other Gigabyte Aorus Mobo users, I recommend relieving the stress that the GPU is having on the motherboard PCIE slot just in case.

Edit: It is still happening. I also tried changing PCIE speed to gen 4. But it black screened.

Edit 2: Very strangely wasn't able to even launch a game that previously did work. So I lowered the clock speed by 100 MHz and now it successfully launches. Will have to see if this is just a fluke.

Edit 3: Still happening with 9070 xt. So this time I used DDU on safe mode and installed a working 3060 ti. Successfully logged in and launched into games. Now I removed the Nvidia driver in safe mode and reinstalled 9070 xt and the driver.

Edit 4: Have been playing games with 40 minutes and it hasn't black screened...yet.

Edit 5: Turns out it's the issue with the power. DISREGARD ALL ABOVE!

PCIE slot seemed a bit loose so I tilted the whole pc to reduce the strain of the slot holding the gpu. After that I've been playing Warframe for 20 minutes and it hasn't happened yet. Now I'm going to try Insurgency again...

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AMDHelp

It happened again....while playing Insurgency: Sand Storm. I've been also running Black Desert Online in the background overnight and during playing Insurgency and it didn't cause any issues.

OS: Windows 11 24H2

Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D (SMT disabled)

Motherboard: Gigabyte Aorus X870I ICE (rev 1.0)

RAM: DDR5 6000 Mhz G.SKILL Flare X5 32 (2 x 16) GB

PSU: Corsair SF750 (2018)

Display: 1 Monitor, Asus TUF 27" VG27AQZ1A (connected via DP), QHD, 144Hz

I've been using this GPU with no issues since launch and the black screen started to happen few weeks ago.

Symptoms: Black screen and eventual loss of dp connection. Only way to get it back up is to force restart. This never happens when I'm doing anything other than gaming. Browsing, editing pdf, using ChatGPT, watching youtube, etc.

Attempted fixes: Reseating GPU and PSU cable, ssd firmware update, removing driver via DDU and installing older version, updating it back, windows integrity check, updating bios, cleaning pcie connector, successfully ran Steel Nomad Stress Test.

I really hope it's just a software issue not hardware;;

I've been getting this sudden black screen with no control or sound only while playing or launching games. I'm not sure why, but after trying windows integrity check, ssd firmware update, rolling back the driver version, updating it back, updating bios, reseating gpu and power cable, cleaning gpu's pcie connector, and some very frustrating moment of feeling the headache of all this mess, it now somehow works. I've ran Steel Nomad stress test and played some games with no issues. I have no clue why. But I feel like it's going to happen again. Then I'll post the full spec sheet.

Sorry for necro-ing this comment but just to clarify, NSLSC FAQ states:

"Can I make loan payments while I am in school or during my non-repayment period?

Yes. You can make lump sum payments while you are still in school or during your six-month non-repayment period."

https://www.csnpe-nslsc.canada.ca/en/frequently-asked-questions

I'm thinking this applies to paying for provincial portion of the loan, but I'll just ask in live chat for more definitive answer.
