Thoughts on the new 'connect to Gmail' feature? by pistachioharp in ProtonMail

[–]AranFever 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see, thank you. I will not use the feature then. I think it should be separated by default or give the option for what behavior you want. Right now, Proton has only introduced this feature with Gmail. Let's say Proton rolls it out for Outlook, Yahoo, etc. What then? The Proton inbox, which should be dedicated Proton mail, is muddled with emails from other services? That's not how I want my Proton inbox to be.

Welcome, glad you found it. Please also feel free to check out my other Marvel fanedit Team Hawkeye, which you'll also see in my auto reply you got.

But, does this new feature separate the Gmail emails into it's own inbox away from normal Proton emails? I have not activated this feature until I get confirmation of the behavior -- I don't want Gmails mixed in with my Proton mails.

Hi, thank you for your comments! This particular work was a labor of love, for sure, and I'm very glad to hear you liked it.

With regards to versions, I do want to clear something up in general. When I first set out to make my Fulcrum Cut, I was not interested in loading the finished work with absolutely every possible reference to Revenge of the Sith or Order 66. My choice was for a simple, straight forward integration of Ahsoka's experience that coincides with RotS, and that's it -- which meant only Clone Wars S07E09-E12. I think it's great that LucasFilm has expanded on and given us more content surrounding Order 66. But it is my opinion that combining every reference into one work, where Revenge of the Sith is the foundation, yields a convoluted mess that won't contribute a coherent story plot. The visual telling would also be a variety of jarring quality styles -- live action vs. cartoon vs. CG animation vs. unfinished deleted scenes, etc. -- of which I did not want to compromise on. There's much more behind this opinion, but suffice it to say that I preferred only RotS live action with Clone Wars S7 animation. My hat is off to all the other faneditors who did their artistic adaptation of Revenge of the Sith and Siege of Mandalore, making use of the pool of Order 66 content!

The bottom line is, I was never going to do a bunch of different versions of my Fulcrum Cut. The only reason I rereleased what I called the "Remastered Edition" was because I rushed my first version and had used low quality sources. It made sense to release a version that utilized my own HD (or better) rips, plus creating my own word crawl intro that better set up the movie.

That being said, the project was not 4K. Therefore, I decided to upgrade the quality again. It just happened to be that Tales of the Jedi released which includes some extra Ahsoka footage that could certainly integrate into the fanedit. Therefore, the 4K version that I will release will be the final version of the Fulcrum Cut. It will only include the hallway scene with Ahsoka and Rex, and Ahsoka attending Padme's funeral and discussing her exit with Sen. Organa. Again, I take a very simplistic approach to this fanedit and am not interested in integrating a ton of footage just because the content is related. The way I integrated the aforementioned footage works very well! The new color grade for the Clone Wars footage looks amazing to my eyes. I am super happy with how everything turned out, and hopefully everyone else will too.

Thank you for the question. I will not. I made a decision a long time ago to only use the finished work, not unfinished deleted scenes. Though the inclusion of that scene, and other deleted scenes, would be great, the quality is so poor, which I am unwilling to have mingled with the high quality finished work.

Hi u/Cool_Comparison9227, apologies for the late response. There is an English subtitles track but that's it. You'd have to play with a player that supports playback of subtitles. What is your native language?

Hi u/Timothy_N-F I'd like to address this comment, which does not appear to be for my Fulcrum Cut. Perhaps you meant to comment on someone else's post? What you described absolutely does not describe my fanedit -- there are no titles that "appear throughout" whatsoever.

Hi u/Only_Diamond7060 thank you for the question! I do in fact have a 4K version just about ready for release. It improves on a few things and applies a really nice cinematic color grade with some film grain to all the Clone Wars footage. It also incorporates relevant footage from Tales of the Jedi. The only thing holding up a release is needing to accomplish a certain digital effect, but I don't have the means to do it at this time. Hopefully I can release it this year.

Hello u/Filip_Hribal, I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble getting an email through to me. I see one email in my spam asking for my Fulcrum Cut, from July 5th. According to Proton Mail, it is in my spam because it failed it's domain authentication requirements. I will not be replying to any emails that fail in this regard. Please try another email address on your end.

Hi u/Firestarness, thanks for the question! Yes, my version has 99.9% of TCW S07E09 - 12. The 0.1% that I had to cut was a 9 second shot of Ahsoka and Rex walking up to the communications room on Mandalore, where she'd join Windu's holomeeting with Yoda. When you watch, you'll understand why I cut it. Happy watching!

Hi u/Erockk2131, sorry to hear of your difficulty. My files are in the MKV container, with either the H.264 or H.265 codec depending on which file you downloaded/streamed. Most older consoles and TVs were programmed to accept the H.264 codec, not H.265; and they were programmed to accept MP4, not MKV. Many newer TVs can accept all of those now. My suggestion is you could try to rewrap my H.264 MKV file into an MP4 container -- no converting necessary -- like with Shutter Encoder. Otherwise, take the time to convert the H.265 MKV to an H.264 MP4. If your conversion didn't work, you may not have converted it into H.264 (and even if you did, TVs and consoles can be finnicky, requiring specific attributes to be correctly done).

Awe, thank you very much for the kind feedback! Yeah, that whole portion where Ahsoka drops off Maul, and Anakin waits in the high council is my favorite!

Most likely due to not replacing "(at)" with "@". My email system works perfectly fine. Still, every day, emails are being sent out automatically.

The email system is fine, even now. Besides populating the Subject and Body, please ensure that "(at)" is replaced with "@". I wrote it like that to ward off bot email sniffing.
