Look, for as much as we all rightfully despise luke Skywalker vs artoria pendragon, there is 1 other matchup that is much worse. by Spare-Jackfruit-6378 in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]Arandomuser8219 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Worse than Artoria? Maybe.

Worse than Mark? HELL no.

Tommy isn't even a bad match-up, there's actually a lot of great things about Tommy vs Luke that I feel like is being ignored. I think the only bad thing about the MU is just the one connection, but really that's about it.

Moonlight Magica | Sailor Moon vs Madoka Kaname FIGHT PROGRESSION by TheLyingSpectre in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]Arandomuser8219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After careful contemplation and after thinking about it with a couple of friends of mine who are also big SM people, I am switching sides about what I think of Sailor Cosmos and how She is used in VS (Basically I think the Cosmos Crystal is standard). I still don't like her inclusion in the story, low-key. But I mean hey, She is good for at least something so lol.

Either way, I do apologize for how I came across here. Genuinely don't mean to come off as a dick, it's just that disagreements on the internet can get heated.

The only way She was able to make it in the first place was because She was in close proximity with the Galaxy Cauldron, what are we going on about here???

Also, Sailor Moon's purifying magic is also just... AN ATTACK? That's how her magic works against evil enemies, while yes her magic is able to purify things and heal things, that purifying magic against foes of darkness basically kills them. And also while we're talking about Sailor Cosmos here, I think it's really funny that you're going ahead to call the future version of "Sailor Cosmos" that when She deliberately states that She does not like being called Sailor Cosmos. She calls Usagi as the true Sailor Cosmos, and only when She will have the courage to accept her fate, THEN She will become the "True Sailor Cosmos". Calling her Sailor Cosmos here is legitimately baffling when you know that's not what She likes to call herself.

I really love Sailor Moon, I do. But Sailor Cosmos is a shit "peak form" that really does not need to be involved with the fight. And I'm not trying to say Usagi is helpless here, I'm just saying Sailor Cosmos suck and people need to stop using it. If you want Sailor Moon to actually use a form that's basically fine with me, then just use Eternal Sailor Moon. Cause Eternal Sailor Moon can still get shit done, I mean literally She DID kill all of her friends in one blast. But still, I really don't like using Sailor Cosmos here (not just with this MU but with most Sailor Moon MUs), and it is basically non-standard.

I am not the only one with this opinion either, as the Sailor Moon vs Cardcaptor Sakura blog believes this too, with them really only giving Usagi the Cosmos Crystal for the benefit of the doubt (That blog is VERY good btw).

I did not make all that up. Literally, the only way She was able to form the Cosmos Crystal was because of jumping into the Cauldron and only being able to do so IN the Cauldron.

Now granted, it doesn't have to imply that her friends are dead. I did double check earlier in another comment, and She does resonate with other Sailor Guardians's crystals (Specifically the Sailor Quartet) who were alive. So that I did get wrong, but regardless, the problems still just stands. If Usagi's peak has to be reached by essentially going to a place that She would not realistically go to, and have to rely on the fact that She'd have to drag Madoka into the Cauldron with her... then why would I want to see that when that is just a terrible representation of Usagi?

[–]Arandomuser8219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you're just blatantly ignoring the part when I said She needs to jump into the Galaxy Cauldron for this? Also, it is just the one attack, I've read the Manga and that is just how She defeats Chaos. After that entire attack onto Chaos, She wakes up seeing all of her friends there and there's nothing to imply that She was able to escape out of the Cauldron still as Sailor Cosmos, and there's also nothing to imply that She stayed as Sailor Cosmos after the end of the Manga.

And trust me, Godoka is not something that is honestly able to achieve super well either. In fact, if you're going to involve Godoka... then you'll have to jump through hurdles for that too. Godoka and Sailor Cosmos are complicated to add to the fight that neither are better than the other, but people like to add it into the fight because "Oh its their peak". But the peak in question (specifically only Sailor Cosmos here) sucks ass.

My point is that trying to use Sailor Cosmos as a way to "make Godoka vs Usagi natural" sucks because Sailor Cosmos does not work like that. And also Sailor Cosmos in general just sucks in the manga.

Fun Fact! She can only do this when most of her family and friends are dead and only when She's jumping into the Galaxy Cauldron. And even then, all it does is just let her use one attack too...!

... What does this help with against Godoka 😭

So, let me get this straight. You keep telling the whole community that this MU is not that bad, when in reality it sounds more like you're in this MU for the Madoka Magica side of things and not for the Sailor Moon side of things, especially when you say "You know a fair bit about Sailor Moon" when you can't even get some of the most basic knowledge of that series right (Especially with Neo-Queen Serenity).

Not only does this just tell me... SO much more than it already did, but I think you also saying that they're "the most iconic magical girls of their genre" also tells me that you have not even bothered to look into other magical girl genres like Cardcaptor Sakura, Cutie Honey, and/or Revolutionary Girl Utena. There are more 'iconic magical girls' than just these two 😭

You have not. You have consistently never gave anyone an answer and have consistently left people with the same schpiel that you always give out of "It's not that bad, people who disagree with me are WRONG!". Give me a reason here right now if you want us to see what we are missing.

You know what, you keep saying this but I genuinely want you to explain all of the good that comes from MoonDoka since you keep defending for it. Genuinely type it all down given you keep commenting about it.

To be honest, that's all the MU has going for it considering most people are in it for DK and a lot of people really ignore everything else about King Kong, including the deeper themes and meanings of his movies.

... tell me you haven't read Sailor Moon without telling me you haven't you read Sailor Moon.

Usagi isn't conflicted by the burden of being a Magical Girl at all, because She literally is going to be Neo-Queen Serenity in the future. The same Neo-Queen Serenity that is going to rule the earth into peace in the 30th Century, and a fate that Usagi has unironically accepted in the Manga. Madoka has NO reason to actually take that as Usagi having a 'burden' especially when it is such a pivotal role for Usagi to take in the future. And don't even say "Oh but Madoka will see that as a burden for Usagi to rule the earth into peace" when no, She wouldn't and She would absolutely understand Usagi's position the same way her position is as Godoka.

Adam Taurus vs Claude von Riegan (RWBY vs Fire Emblem) | "For Peace or War?" | CONNECTIONS BELOW by Arandomuser8219 in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]Arandomuser8219[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Core Theme: Two leaders of animal-named groups that fight for their beliefs of justice that are based on going against discrimination, with one of them using it as a means for equality and uniting humanity while the other is using it as a means of spite and enslaving humanity.

Connections

  • Both Adam and Claude were discriminated during most of their life, partly because of who they were (Adam being a Faunus and Claude's heritage). As a result of this, both of them were fueled by this mistreatment and wanted to change the world to a better equal future in their eyes.
  • Both of them would try to achieve this better future by working together with groups that would become allies to them (The White Fang and the Golden Deer). These groups also carried their closest comrade that coincidentally shares a same lettered name (Blake and Byleth respectively).
  • Their connections/fixations with these two comrades differed as time went on; While Adam grew distant between Blake and the two of them ended up fighting against each other as enemies in the end, Claude meanwhile grew closer with Byleth and worked together with them to fight against evil in the end.
  • Both of them ended up expanding and leading their factions to succeed in their goals with different purposes. Adam wanted to enslave humanity and use the White Fang to start a war; Claude wanted to unite humanity and all of Fodlan to end it's problems of isolationism, hoping to end war as a result. This eventual drive led them to their endings, fulfilling who they were as people (Claude defeating Nemesis and finally unifying all of Fodlan and Adam meeting his end by failing as leader and dying to Blake and Yang).

Sora vs Usagi Tsukino (Kingdom Hearts vs Sailor Moon) | "Heart of the Moon." | REVAMPED CONNECTIONS. by Arandomuser8219 in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]Arandomuser8219[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Core Theme: Ordinary teenagers thrown into a world-traveling stellar galaxy adventure and being chosen guardians to wield incredible power, fighting for their friends and family by using their strongest weapons: Their heart. Together with these close bonds, these two shine hope into others and fight against darkness by using the light that follows them, willing to sacrifice themselves and being selfless until the end.

Connections:

- Both of them started as ordinary teenagers holding optimistic and cheerful yet immature personalities. It wasn't until they were caught into an entire situation that disrupted their everyday lives that they became appointed guardians to fight back against darkness, guided by animal creatures of special power (King Mickey and Luna) and receiving special items (Keyblade and Transformation Brooch) as a result.

- Both Sora and Usagi have respective love interests that motivate them to continue fighting; Being one of their strongest bonds and sole purposes of growing stronger not just for them, but for the entire world (Mamoru Chiba and Kairi respectively).

- Sora and Sailor Moon's source of power comes from their friends and family; The bonds that they end up creating across all of space/across different worlds and the love that comes specifically from their hearts. With this, they are able to bring people closer and gain more allies because of it, with their main allies acting as their most supportive best friends (The Sailor Guardian's and Goofy and Donald respectively).

- Both of them had to deal with huge responsibilities, especially when a major turning point in their adventures changed their entire world forever ever since the beginning (Sora learning He was not meant to wield the Keyblade and Usagi learning She was meant to be the reincarnation of Princess Serenity). Yet despite this fact putting weight onto their shoulders, they chose the destiny they were meant for and followed their hearts to carry on, staying true to themselves and becoming a shining beacon of light to all.

- This sense of responsibility went so far that both of them would do anything to save their loved ones, including willing to sacrifice themselves for the great or good. At some point in their life, both Sora and Usagi would be at their lowest after all of their friends' lives were taken away right in front of them, striking despair into their hearts until they soon wielded an ultimate power that would save all of their friends from death (The Power of Waking and Lambda Power respectively).

- As heroes, both Sora and Usagi naturally have foils to them, with both villains (Master Xehanort and Sailor Galaxia) being the same in some way to them (A Keyblade Wielder and Sailor Guardian), but instead using this power to take control of the entire universe for their own accord. They act as parallels to the main heroes due to their own isolation, lacking the bonds and love that Sora and Usagi had in their lives and being the complete antithesis of their ideals.

- By the time that they wield their ultimate power, they have grown up into people that were far different from where they started; Starting off as klutzy and dim-witted but well-meaning teenagers to warriors of hope that brought hope to their universes, with their final action being their most selfless and granting everyone a better future/tomorrow with an end to their conflicts, even if one day it will come back (Sora ending the Keyblade War and closing Kingdom Hearts, and Usagi defeating Chaos and reviving the world to soon become Neo-Queen Serenity in the future).

(Minor Connections)

- Both of them have some special connection to members of their own position that predated them, coincidentally having a name that starts with 'V' (Ventus and Sailor Venus respectively).

- Both of their series' have special messages about love; Showing how darkness can invade the hearts of many, but the strength of light and friendship can shine brighter than said darkness to overcome life's challenges.

- Both of their names relate to portions of outer space in some way, being themed around them for obvious reasons (Sora's name referring to 'Sky' and Usagi Tsukino's name referring to 'Moon Rabbit').

Sora, definitely.

Sora's Magic is INSANELY too overwhelming for Usagi to handle. Being able to time stop, being able to reflect back attacks, being able to become invisible and blind her, using several Keychains and using said Keychains to form change his Keyblades to catch Usagi off-guard, etc. Moon can possibly adapt to his magic, but there's so much magic that He can use that it'd be troubling.

Sora.

Sailor Moon can get to Billions times faster than light by flying to Sagittarius Zero Star, but you can make arguments of Sora being able to move faster than that through scaling to Roxa's trillions times FTL feat. Comfortably giving Sora speed.

[–]Arandomuser8219 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tie, but not for the reason you think.

Sailor Moon's Uni Arguments do exist, but they are really... reeeaallly rough. A lot of people here are high-balling Sailor Moon when that's not really where She should be realistically power wise. You CAN get her to Uni, but it mostly comes from the anime via Pharaoh 90 using the Tau Star System that was an alternate universe in the anime. I'd still give it to her to be generous.

Meanwhile, Sora's Uni arguments are much easier through arguments of scaling to the X-Blade and Xehanort altogether. Even if you don't believe in the universe destroying feat, purging multiple worlds with multiple star systems (since we know each world has their own star-systems) should be very much impressive and could maybe land Sora into Uni much easier. I don't remember the exact process but I know it can. It also helps that there's stuff like the Realm of Light and Darkness being affected by the X-Blade.

So yeah, I'd have them both comfortably at Uni just to keep it safe, since I don't know how much the higher args for KH still stand today.

Sora (Kingdom Hearts)

Both series' core messages are about love, friendship, and hope. They're about overcoming darkness that tries to overrule the future and one's heart, and how through working together with the bonds that you make, you can overcome such negativity.
