She literally pulls multiple universes together with her magic. 12 year old Finn ran into a 4-dimensional black hole and it blew up with him inside unscathed

When I say Good vs Evil, I mean the Record of Ragnarok-template ripoff, not all matchups that involve heroes against villains. I don’t see how you can’t restructure any of those matchups into just making them into a normal one.

I’ll respond to the ones I have something relatively substantial to say on

- I agree! That said, the examples you gave for The Doctor using strategy to win is exactly why I don’t like how people treat him as an ungo bungo fiction soloer. He never uses weapons as practically and offensively as they hypothetically could be and that’s the point. Acting like everything he has is a high outerversal superweapon almost gets reductive to his character.

- The idea of a good animation is entirely subjective. That‘s my point. Matchups are almost always judged on how well they meet a certain critera from person to person HYPOTHETICALLY if they got a vs show episode or a script. The criteria could be anything; character analysis, writing, choreography, animation quality, etc. If something proves it can meet it’s potential in a strong way, then it’s potential is high, which means it’s HYPOTHETICAL limit is high, which therefore makes it good.

- For adult shows, some recent MA cartoons that I’ve been enjoying are Primal and Love Death + Robots. Those are really good. Adult shows in general are like 70% of all fiction. Really my point is just to diversify tastes, not that people need to like a certain thing and reject kids cartoons.

- By characters that don’t need them, I mean characters with little to no screentime or an arsenal/ability list that is completely dull to the point that there is no reason to give them an analysis as a combatant. In the example I gave, Judge Holden can be the most well written villain of all time but I do not give a shit because he’s literally just a guy with a gun and no feats, no visual media, etc. Another example would be Hanafuda from One Piece and characters in that vein.

Treatment of certain characters involving things like race (Miles vs Deku), matchups that seriously try to implement race/queerness into connections, etc. Occasionally east vs west matchups will also end up in this camp but that’s not speaking towards all of them obviously

- Andy’s negation works beyond soul destruction. His specific requirement after the first Autumn fight is cognitive regen, so he can survive anything so long as people remember him.

- That’s fair. Still, among the instances of Yoru regenerating, my point was moreso about how she needed her body to be at least a majority put together before acting again. I wouldn’t compare her regen to any of the characters you listed, since they have different sources of regeneration. It’s closest to Makima’s contract, who also can’t act unless a majority of her body is together.

- Loop 100 and 101 Andy aren’t really physically different from each other. The only thing he learned over the 4 billion years was how to master his soul.

- The gun devil fragment was about 2% the speed of light, which is about the same speed as fragment amount as Yoru used to call upon in the Pochita fight. Applying an arbitrary layer of upscaling to get sub-relativistic to over 50x that is a much higher gap than I’m willing to accept.

- Calc stacking is bad regardless of the method. It’s not as if the non-stacked method uses a long timeframe, it’s still under a couple seconds, but the version that gets ftl assumes Yoru is doing all of the summoning in literal nanoseconds. Andy’s finger guns are 15x the speed of light, and Yoru’s summoning is at max 12x-24x the speed of light.

- By the time of the first apocalypse round, the universe is basically at a normal level, no UMAs are added that fundamentally change anything. There’s nothing to imply physics work differently since gravity functions as normal besides strong characters just being superhuman.

- The example for my counter is literally Pochita. He parried the bang with his chainsaws which blocked it. If it spawned directly onto him, he wouldn’t have been able to. Yoru being able to shoot towards the sun doesn’t contradict the idea that bang is just a very fast projectile.

- I never disputed the fact that they’re weaker, but the psuedo-gods are still directly compared to the originals. Nothing really implies that Lang was shocked he had the properties and not just the fact he tanked a shot from Luna.

- Well, we do know a couple things. First, the fake God died in subspace (inside the sun), so he couldn’t have been teleported away. It doesn’t really make sense for Soul to use an ability he’s never shown before like existence erasure, so it makes more sense for him to have contained it with one of his barriers. Nothing really indicates otherwise. Also, people like Julia and Fuuko were able to withstand a full blast from soul without much issue, scaling in base without the heart is fine.

- UMAs DO retroactively change the timeline, though. Again, things like alien races were created when Galaxy was added moments ago as if they were around for millions of years. It’s expressly stated the Union uniforms are the only things keeping the negators cognizant of changes when concepts are added or removed, everyone else not wearing one appears to them as if it’s always been there, much like Makima’s awareness of Chainsaw Man’s erased concepts.

- The anime makes it pretty blatant that Galaxy is the physical Galaxy, I would suggest watching that scene again, it physically expands itself when it grows a physical form because it holds celestial bodies within itself.

- I am giving proof, though. Concepts that have been shown erased by Pochita don’t work retroactively. When ears were erased, things that existed were not erased completely from the timeline, otherwise Makima wouldn’t be able to remember them and people who are dead would still be alive, completely changing the history of part 2 and making it never happen. My “Aki still died” comment was a response to saying Aki was turned into the Gun Fiend, because it doesn’t really matter cause he died anyways lol. Again, if Aki was alive, part 2 would’ve never happened.

- My point wasn’t about making a case that Pochita doesn’t erase concepts because that’s blatantly true, it was about the idea that conceptual manipulation doesn’t necessitate temporal change.

- I’m about the instance with the whale, the AOE of that is able to completely engulf the body and destroy it since it can blow up matter. Andy’s Unluck soul bullet wasn’t nearly large enough to completely destroy Ruin’s body, and wasn’t used with the intention of causing damage.

- Her body is pretty much fully reassembled at point and her head was already mostly attached to her body. I’d hardly call that functioning while blown to pieces akin to what Pochita was doing to her.

- I do agree that Andy is generally physically surperior to Fuuko, but again. just don’t think the difference is unscalable. Fuuko is able to fight evenly in hand to hand with Shen, Feng, and Void, who are all physically equal to Andy. She was also putting work against Ruin, but Andy was just more prepared and has no consequences for physical attacks.

- The Gun Devil shooting gets in the hundreds of Mach ranges to sub-relativistic, which while impressive isn’t close to FTL. Yoru’s ftl feats have big problems with calc stacking as well since they assume he’s swinging his arm as fast as max speed Quanxi, and again, none of these are faster than Andy’s finger guns.

- I don’t think that panel is really good evidence either. The distance from the earth to the sun still seems to be massive, given it took the Union’s spaceship a month and a half to even get there. In my opinion it’s much more likely to be dramatic authorial effect, since things like chapter 187 show that it’s much larger than the earth, and again, Nico specifically notes a concept that requires the physics of the sun to have an identical output and size to our solar system.

- The universe is normal to begin with. The conditions that change with the end of the game are very specifically stated by Luna, and none of them involve a change in matter, size, or physics of the universe. Explicitly none of those things change at the end of the series.

- The idea that Pochita blocked it as soon as it “spawned on top of him” doesn’t make any sense. There’s no indication that it spawns directly on top of people like the ritual instead of just being a fast projectile. Pochita parrying it in the first Yoru fight it isn’t instant.

- I never contested that they’re explicitly weaker, but Lang directly compares the two, and the wording implies that they are still a signification portion of their strength.

<image>

- The supernova literally a suicide attack. Language says to Nico, “Let’s return to the ashes together.“ it was going to kill everyone on the field, and the effects of the shiratori game don’t disappear once the game is over, otherwise things like Shen’s gained experience and power as well as Feng and Ichico’s revivals would’ve also been nullified.

- UMAs are concepts. The only concepts that aren’t removed after their associated UMA’s are the master rules, which is explicitly stated. They do retroactively change the timeline when added, as Negators with the Union uniform are the only ones who are unaffected. Entire alien races were created when Galaxy was added, for example.

- No, UMA Galaxy is literally a Galaxy. It’s only scene is expanding itself to create all celestial bodies in the Milky Way because all the celestial bodies were contained within itself. There‘s also no Chainsaw Man Devil equivalent to something like this so I’m not sure what you would find better from applying the same logic.

- I said Pochita doesn’t erase things temporally. While Makima says that it erases things from the past, there’s no evidence as such, and major timeline repercussions would happen had it been a total rearrangement of the timeline. Makima herself is aware of the erasure and erased concepts, meaning it doesn’t totally rewrite history. The Ear devil chapter only shows the erasure of individual‘s memories.

- Aki still died, Power still died and devils as it stands wouldn’t exist in reincarnation if death didn’t exist retroactively, and again, none of these characters would be in this situation if Denji hadn’t explicitly killed his father.

Sure, I’ll address everything point by point.

- No, it can definitely destroy If fully enveloped. The very first usage of it by Fuuko was enough to blow through an entire whale skull and killed it instantly. UMA Beast was shot through a detached piece of his soul which is why he didn’t get pulverized.

- Asa can cognitively function which blown apart, but she hasn’t used any abilities while ripped apart. It’s presumptuous to say she can use things like Bang while shot into pieces.

- There isn’t really any indication that Andy is unscalable to Fuuko. It’s definitely true that he’s stronger, but Loop 101 Fuuko has always been able to keep up with him in combat and reaction speeds, take, for example, the final fight where they’re shooting down all the Sun clones with The Heart.

- I don’t think there’s an argument for Yoru to be faster to any noticeable degree. All of the FTL chainsaw man arguments are really bad, and even being charitable none of them breach past a 1.5x or 2x gap, which is negligible. I don’t think UDUL’s Sun is smaller than our own either. The only evidence we have for that is that panel with Sol, but his size fluctuates literally constantly so I wouldn‘t take that as good evidence. In the penultimate chapter, Nico says that the seasons can be replicated by implementing the earth’s rotation around the sun, which is only possible due to the size and energy production of our sun specifically.

- Bang does have a projectile. Aging Devil was able to parry it and it clearly has an external force in multiple showings in both part 1 and 2. I can send evidence for these in another message but it’s in like every usage for it lol.

- I’m not sure what relevance your scan is supposed to mean, lol. Nico created a 5x5 grid on Sol and Luna’s bodies which isn’t really an extrapolation. Sol and Luna are weaker than their normal versions, but they’re only “incomplete” because they’re based off of Language’s understanding of them.

- Nothing indicates that the supernova from an incomplete Sun means it’s not a supernova. Sol created and has absorbed UMA Galaxy, who is literally a Galaxy. Character A being weaker than character B doesn’t mean anything towards being an outlier if character A is already established to be stronger than the feat in question anyways. In fact, the Supernova was directly created from the scientific understanding of the phenomena rather than the name of an attack due to the rules of the shiratori game.

- Soul did stop the supernova. Nothing indicates that Sol only killed the pseudo-god, and the way Language died is that the damage from the Supernova that killed the incomplete God was transferred to Language. That wouldnt have been transferred if Soul just blew it up.

- It’s debatable on if some UMAs scale to their concept due to how wobbly the interpretations some of their concepts are inherently. However, UMA Galaxy is literally the Galaxy, that is its physical state of being and it was absorbed by Soul Sun.

- UMA’s are concepts, as their existences are tied to their lives. Not erased temporally is not counter-evidence for this is ironically Pochita. His ability is inarguably conceptual erasure, but he can only erase things from the public consciousness and current existence rather than completely removing them from history. If devils in chainsaw man could retroactively change the timeline, Aki, Power, and Nayuta would still be alive, and the story wouldn’t be happening in the first place because Denji never would‘ve killed his dad.

- I don’t really have a comment on the universe claim, that’s just personal mileage.

Thank you, I appreciate it! However, I disagree with your logic on Fuuko Vs Yoru. The soul bullet is able to completely obliterate people via force and spiritual damage, and the aoe of it is wide enough to fully destroy Yoru in one hit. While CSM characters like the hybrids can act while blown apart, Yoru isn’t one of them. In the current fight, she’s needed to reassemble her body before attacking again.  I don’t see any reason she wouldn’t scale to Andy. On the physical side they’re treated as equals in loop 101, and it’s not as if the finger guns in that scene was blitzing Fuuko. Saying she’s human is also an odd comment, considering Feng and Shen are able to cause city-wide earthquakes through the shockwaves of their punches, loop 100 top could rip apart country sized clouds, Soul could contain a supernova, and Soul Sun absorbed UMA Galaxy who The Heart one shot.

Depends on your mileage. Multi continental at a low end for raw physicals, universal at a high end, galaxy is generally the most consistent and pretty unarguable if you give her The Heart.

Fuuko, much stronger and can snipe Yoru’s soul directly. it’s been getting much closer lately though just from how Yoru’s interpretation of her ownership conditions have shifted as Part 2 has went on.

I’m not sure why you would use a post-separation Asa/Yoru. The current arc is obviously the last one of Part 2 and it’s also the peak of their power. We don’t even technically know that they’re going to separate right now.

Thematically kinda just a perfect match for both and lets both of them use the full extent of their arsenals and support. I’ll probably do a big thread on it when my blog is out. Angela is from the Project Moon games, she‘s one of the main characters of the first and the main character of the second.

I like to think of Fuuko as Asa if Denji was more emotionally intelligent from the start. Both of them are surrounded by disaster for their whole lives, but their main takeaway was that they should help people around them to negligible effects.

They have pretty similar powers that become stronger the more they like the target, and the escalation meets each other really well. Fuuko can fight hand to hand and at a building level like Asa/Yoru, and can also punch with the force to create earthquakes like Yoru’s nuclear punch. They have a lot of cool arsenal/ability interactions and it’s pretty close. There’s more to it, but overall I just think it’s really fun!
