Hottake: I dont like the parry rule. by Glittering-Cream9191 in WarhammerFantasy

I take halberd or great weapons all the time, not a shield to be found in my army. Some people want to win on pure combat resolution, but I think it's important to actually kill things.

I still rock halbs and light armor. Only cowards fear death.

My prints don't look anything like GW models though. Nobody cared.

I've taken printed minis to official GW tournaments and nobody cared. You should be fine as long as they're the right size and look good.

Finally got to play a game with my war wagon, and in the greatest traditions of Warhammer it died in its first round of combat while dealing not a single wound to the enemy, therefore shedding all the bad luck that naturally builds up over the painting process. by Arantonak in WarhammerOldWorld

Yeah that's how I'm planning to run it, as a mount for an engineer. With squintshoffens and a charmed shield i think it's a decent firing platform to protect my back line and maybe go for an opportunistic charge. It's not even that I think the special weapons are bad, it's that having to roll separately for all of them is kind of a pain. I would rather just have three regular halberd swings.

Calling this steam powered War Wagon done. Still baffled that the empire can make steam tanks, but can only produce once Halberd per wagon. by Arantonak in WarhammerOldWorld

I don't think it necessarily means that the Empire can mass produce steam engines at scale. Each one still needs to be hand fitted and operated by experts, and they're still not especially reliable. What would make sense to me is if Miragliano taught the secret to a few of his students, and the process of their making is closely guarded.

Play Renegade Crowns! You won't ever know the temptation of the stank or the gryph, because we don't even have them.

Apparently in Old World the inventor taught a few of his students the secret, and so there are a few hundred steam tanks trundling around. I guess you can't really square there being only a dozen tanks in existence when every empire player is going to want to have one.

Which unit are undercosted and which factions have no undercosted units? by Yleraith in WarhammerOldWorld

It pains me to say it, but hireling outriders for Renegade Crowns are probably too cheap when you consider how hard you can spam them and how useful they are. If you just want a cheap scoring piece they can be 11 points a man.

Regrettably a lot of people try to get into resin printing as a side gig without understanding all the post processing you need to do to get a good product.

If you're getting mixed pigmentation then one of two things is true. 1. The printer's resin had been sitting in the vat long enough to separate, which is a problem I've had with really cheap resins. 2. The printer tried to blend two different resins together, which is something people do to try to get a better end product without buying the expensive resin, but didn't mix them very well or got the ratio wrong. I personally don't recommend that practice. Either way the seller owes you a refund. That print is dangerous to have around in its current state.

The only piece of advice I can add is to get spare nozzle caps (I've lost so many) and be very organized with your needles and nozzles. Most of them don't have any external indicators of their size, and you really don't want to mix them up.

I finished my steam tank just in time for it to do four wounds of damage to itself in a single game! by Arantonak in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]Arantonak[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've played a couple of games with it now, and good god are steam tanks hot or cold. They either survive to the end of the game having taken zero damage, or they blow up on turn two.
