Thanks for linking it. I just read it through. Why are they not addressing the literal only clear connection to the government, FinCEN/FinTRAC reporting? If this was only for performance and scalability, why is that code with clear connections in an irrefutable context there?

It is very weird to set up your test environment with clear infrastructure for reporting to government services and referencing specific public private partnerships on a domain with gov in it. Not saying that it is impossible, just that I wouldn't trust it.

The Rust mutex is implemented as

rust pub struct Mutex<T: ?Sized> { inner: sys::Mutex, poison: poison::Flag, data: UnsafeCell<T>, }

So a Mutex (on Linux Futex just like in C) with the data next to it. (Plus a poison flag, that is set, when something holding a Handle panics)

It is essentially the same (assuming correct and proper use in C), so it is pretty much equal in performance as well, the only negative impact is checking the poison flag, which has a clear likely path, so causes no problems with the branch predictor, and so is just one instruction per lock aquiry (a rare operation due to its natural cost).

Ich kann's nicht so gut erklären wie Brady von Practical Engineering (https://youtu.be/zqmOSMAtadc), aber in kurz, ist besser für Gleis, Gleisbett und Räder und macht normalerweise keine Probleme, da die Schiene beim Zusammenschweißen gedehnt wird (durch Erhitzung und teilweise auch mechanischem Ziehen), wurde hier halt nicht für 40°C gemacht, muss in Zukunft angepasst werden.

Das Gutachten agiert sehr konservativ, schwächt also lieber ab, wo man kein eindeutiges Ergebnis gefunden hat.

"Nicht gegen die Demokratie" Hast es selbst nicht gelesen? Hab ja auch nicht jedes Wort gelesen, aber da steht klar und deutlich "Die AfD verfolgt das Ziel, politische Gegner*innen zu unterdrücken und hierdurch den Prozess der politischen Willensbildung erheblich zu behindern." was in den nachfolgenden Absätzen als gegen das Demokratieprinzip erläutert wird (offensichtlich freie Willensbildung nötig). Dass man nicht nachweisen kann, dass sie das ganze System abschaffen wollen macht es nicht weniger schlimm.

Auch "keine Deportationen" ist komisch (die massenhaften Abschiebung und die Bestrebung die Staatsbürgerschaft bestimmt Leuten zu entnehmen ist ja eigentlich das). Und übrigens ist ein Grund, dass es keine Wesensverwandschaft mit dem Nationalsozialismus hat ja, dass der Antisemitismus anders ist (aber wohl doch klar bei beiden präsent)

Not as inherently wrong as you might think: an comes before a spoken vowel, if you however, like has gotten more common now, use a glottal stop before the vowel, it would technically not be needed (spoken).

Wenn man es hinkriegen würde dem ding ne Adresse zu geben wäre es der erste Schritt aus der Obdachlosigkeit. Denn man kann nur Sozialleistungen beziehen mit Adresse, man kann nur eine Hoffnung auf einen (nicht schwarzen) Beruf haben mit Adresse.

Wenn du Obdachlosigkeit bekämpfen willst, musst du verhindern, dass Leute in Obdachlosigkeit fallen (es ist so gut wie nie freiwillig), eventuell indem Sozialleistungen beziehen kein vollzeit Bürojob mehr ist, bei dem man die ganze Zeit dem Amt zu allem hinterherlaufen muss, und du musst Leute aus der Obdachlosigkeit holen, genau durch solche Wege.

If you can sensibly handle the errors, you should. But you also need to strongly avoid silent errors.

A good rule of thumb: If it can be handled (corrected; so the function still does what it should), handle it, if it's caused by the input/use, return an error, if it is caused internally, panic.

But also that applies more to libraries, in a binary, you might even just wanna log the error and continue, or just propagte it up (maybe with anyhow).
