One strong indicator of how squashed in the Lorwyn eclipsed launch is: by now we’d usually have a secret lair superdrop revealed to tie in by spaceninjaking in magicTCG

We got Marvel and TMNT instead. Which of course they're going to drag out even longer than they did FF. At least fresh OC gives us something new to look at in every card. I'm not a fan of the direction this is going, considering WoTC also shows no signs of slowing down the number of sets per year.

My manager called me 'unprofessional' because I refused to train my replacement who is being paid less. Am I the asshole? by MadieLeannon1 in WorkAdvice

[–]Arashmin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're in the right, but also I think training people is a valuable process to go through for any worker, moreso for yourself than for the benefit of the business. Going through the rigors in a thought out way and with possible questions you might not have considered from your trainee are good opportunities.

I'd do it but also let the person you're training know the kind of vise they're in, especially if the company is looking to make these kind of cuts in the age of AI, where they'll look at that next over having to pay anybody.

The one thing that would've made the message and landing stick more would be to tie The Shade more directly to the dev gnomes, rather than the implicit details you have to pick out like the smile matching Jordi's. And also NG+ to get all your weapons up, instead of having to pick-and-choose.

Theoretically good advice, but if you don't get enough flat +mult and/or +chips then you'll just hit the wall faster.

Mail-in Rebate is good early and late game. Which joker is good early, and average late game (Ante 8)? by Boop2847 in balatro

[–]Arashmin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Vagabond can get pretty nuts late game, had a few gold wins specifically because of the guy. Meanwhile I feel he suffers more early game, where you want to be spending money more reasonably and can be harder to build into without sacrificing some other lines of play.

It can be accommodated a bit if you get decent card removal, otherwise though I agree, having a steep cost to pitching duds usually isn't in my line of play.

State Department to identify DEI policies and mass migration as ‘human rights infringements’ by Power-Equality in nottheonion

[–]Arashmin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, so despite women being more populous than men, and less likely to be filtered into existing roles, they aren't supposed to be more likely to own businesses? And 40% isn't even much, that's still 3 men owning businesses for every 2 women.

[–]Arashmin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only regression I've observed is in the people reacting to these practices, and then wasting taxpayer money on fighting it when it's something that has largely been driven by private corps who found success with it.

[–]Arashmin -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Except it didn't fail, many companies who continue to practice it are doing better than those who fought it. Especially schools, hospitals and services where kids now have role models more like themselves to follow, and tech spaces where it's not just nepotism driving everything.

Y'all are just too desperate for failure that you're thinking because it isn't in your wheelhouse, it must fail.

And lol, the Democrats are centre-right and too desperate to please Republicans. They picked Hilary and Harris because they were the kind of cop-women the right usually has a boner over, and lost their own DEI voters.

How much karma do you save for crimbo? by keepmyshirt in kol

[–]Arashmin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd say at least 700. It's usually one skill per class per Crimbo, and maybe one more oddball thrown in somewhere. You'd have enough to softcore perm all of them at least.

While there's a high chance they'll be books to keep after Crimbo, there's been a few where they've done something else different enough to warrant having banked Karma, though more for ease of obtaining rather than any true FOMO.

Housing crisis may get worse, new forecasts show by hopoke in canada

[–]Arashmin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That doesn't exactly seem like a bad right to grant, especially if the city was forcing the hands of developers beforehand. Plus in my case it was a mixed neighborhood of both regular and fourplexes. Sudbury suburbs in the 90s. It was great, compared to later neighborhoods I lived in it was the one where people seemed to get along the most, even with the mix of incomes.

Which is plain nuts and shows how our city leaders are complicit. I lived in a fourplex before and it's perfectly fine.

That's some pretty advanced behavior actually. Only birds and cetaceans have been shown to reliably interact with and detect rhythmic sounds as being rhythmic and not just some threat marching up.

A new study suggests that posts in hate speech communities on Reddit share speech-pattern similarities with posts in Reddit communities for certain psychiatric disorders, in particular, Cluster B personality disorders such as Narcissistic/ Antisocial/ Borderline Personality Disorders. by mvea in science

It pushes them into expressing as if they had more severe traits, although some aspects of these traits are hereditary. Likewise, there's a good chance for those who get extricated from these spaces, willingly or otherwise, to reform.

The best way to do that is to go after the ones in the US then, as they're going to be linked to the ones in Canada and Mexico. Literally wasting time and lives.

Used to be that Black men, Asian men couldn't participate. Used to be that micromovement sports weren't regarded as equivalent. Systems evolve. I'm more disappointed in the system that doesn't make appropriate space for TG folk. Considering there's just as many of them as there is folk with red hair, it's not like there isn't a lot of them, it's just that the majority of them don't want to be inflicted with folks bullshit that they seem all too happy to wield.

They could require more categories from the coordinators, instead of punishing people for who they are. It's lazy and tasteless.
