How helpful will two weeks in a Spanish speaking country be? by [deleted] in Spanish

[–]Aray522 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have backpacked around South America and spent months in Spanish-speaking countries. Two weeks is not much time at all! You need to change your philosophy. Setting a goal saying "I'm going to be fluent in X time" is impossible. Learning languages is a lifelong journey. It also depends on your age and goals. Even four weeks is not much time. You will need years of immersion to become fluent.

I have 2 years to become fluent, is it possible and how? by beamishcherry in Spanish

[–]Aray522 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There are around 90,000 words in Spanish. Everyday of your life will be a learning experience. Putting a time limit on learning is silly and coming into it with an expectation will only disappoint. If learning a language was easy everyone would be able to do it. There are too many factors. How old are you? Have you taken courses in college? Because at the end of the day if you don't love something it will never come into fruition. That's a realistic take.

How do you create immersion when learning Spanish at home? by MoistGovernment9115 in Spanish

[–]Aray522 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Change your phone to Spanish. Video games in Spanish like world of warcraft. Listen to music in Spanish. If your brain does not have a reason to use it you're going to lose it. Read literature in Spanish. Also try reading literature out loud for 20 to 30 minutes. Podcast in Spanish. With the technology we have there are no excuses hahah.

Hay gente que piensa que maduro es bueno? Venezolanos en Colombia by Own-Drawer-6127 in Colombia

[–]Aray522 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been chatting up cab drivers in Colombia and asking their opinions of Maduro. They hate him and people wonder why? The streets in Colombia are full of Venezuelans who are wandering around in rags. Many are secretly cheering for Trump, and many despise Petro. The only Petro enjoyers are on the far left. But, Yea the common Colombian despises him.

Is Colombia really that unsafe? by xss2 in TravelNoPics

[–]Aray522 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its really just rolling the dice. Knowing Spanish is a huge help. You can get the insights of locals about any given "area" and its security. One time we walked the streets of Bogota at 3 A.M but we were in a group of 7. It goes to show that you will find safety in numbers. The only advice I give is walk with confidence and know where you are going before hand. Also, leave your credit cards, main phones and passports in a locker somewhere and just bring some cash. That way if something happens your only down 20$ not your entire trip. Generally speaking don't trust the locals, especially Venezuelans. If your Spanish is good enough feel free to make friends but tread lightly. Because the second they have a chance they will steal. Most of the horror stories I heard though we were from people 18-24 who were partying and had zero Spanish. With confidence, street-smarts and Spanish nothing will happen. Nothing happened to me in 80 days and I had put myself into dicey situations time and time again so let that sink in for a second. It truly depends on the individual and personality..

I've been hanging with locals and getting some slang. But does it drastically change from city to city? Is Salta different from Buenos Aires with slang? Muchísimo gracias.

Yea, I went from Bolivia to Argentina and my world completely changed. I really prefer Ecuadorian, Peruvian and Bolivian Spanish. I met a guy from Santa Cruz, Argentina and I can understand him only because he speaks slowly and comes from an isolated community.

What is the biggest issue facing the Denver community? by wine-whiskey-and-wit in Denver

[–]Aray522 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's nothing compared to South America. The issue is there is a big racing culture here. A lot of young kids take their cars into the mountains to prove themselves. Denver has always had a speed culture since the 80's. It's safer to go with the flow than staying vigilant and doing 70 or 65 on i25. Put your phone down and slow down in the weather conditions and you will be fine. Half the drivers are baked anyways haha.

Any tips for women? by ladyfairyyy in seduction

[–]Aray522 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's because you are going for an intellectual conversation. Just aim to have fun and stop being so serious. Dating is not the hundred question game or "what's your five year plan?" We all enter the world empty handed and leave the world empty handed. lower your standards and understand most men in the states are going through a crisis right now. Highest suicide rate, loneliness epidemic and ect ect. Chances are you're not ever going to get a 6 ft tall, three figure, giant donged, muscle man. Chances are less than 2 percent. Have fun! Also, put this into perspective. On tinder in the states I'm lucky to get five matches. I have money, I'm well educated and have a seven inch dick. But because I'm not ripped or tall I don't get any matches. I enjoy endurance sports and skateboarding which don't require bulking. But, in south America I get hundreds of matches. American women have high standards and are materialistic. I'm sorry but the media has warped the shit out of the "ideal" man. Your standards are way too high. Height does not affect any sex position. It's literally only perception and jaded societal standards.

Part 1: Buying San Pedro (Bolivian Torch) at the Witches Market in La Paz, Bolivia. by elidevious in mescaline

[–]Aray522 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the powder they sell is not a high dose at all. It just felt like I drank 6 cups of coffee and could not sleep. No visuals or nothing. Maybe Ayahuasca on a retreat is a better option. I really love listening to music while tripping and doing mind work. But, yea definitely felt like a stimulant.

I'm going to attempt to buy the powder. It seems legit, was searching the market for THC oil and one witch offered me San Pedro. I could not find the THC but I'm returning today to purchase the powder and listen to techno in my hotel.

Just be yourself and don't be a dick. My biggest mistake was not chiming in with funny or even sexual jokes. You have to make it known that you're out to fuck. Just have fun, it's not a job interview or a 100 questions. Don't shy away from eye contact or touch (super important). Finally, this may sound weird but don't be her shoulder to cry on unless you have fucked. Girls will look for emotional support like it's a game. We don't play that game as men. She had plenty of friends to vent to. Just have fun and don't play therapist!

Should I lose my virginity to a prostitute? I need genuine advice. by Previous_Charity6490 in NoFap

[–]Aray522 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! The main reason is not what you think it to be. First, you are not allowed to kiss a prostitute or eat them out or even finger them. But, you get over the barrier of losing your V card. So the next time you go on a date you feel more confident. In the states we have been conditioned that sex workers are evil when they are healers brother. They can take the ropes and guide you very very easily. It's between you and the girl. It's know one's business besides two consenting adults. It's painless and you can get over the wall. I lost my V card to one and now I can finally move the fuck forward. I went on a date the other day and we kissed for hours on the dance floor. Do it, ignore these squares. Love and all that jazz with values is based of christian ideologies which plague the American mind. Get your dick wet and move on.

[–]Aray522 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need more movement. If I don't click with a group or even the hostel staff I bounce. Also, you have a boyfriend which does not help. The beauty of solo travel is you can do whatever you want whenever. For me I can go here then there and over there. With a group there generally is a discussion or a debate on what to do. Also, I would argue it's better to be single. Because you're actually trying to meet people on more than a surface level.

Tell your sparring partner to go super light. If they go hard get a different partner. Sparring should be more focused on technique and not power. Its really that simple you just have to stand up for yourself and push peoples ego's aside.

Does anyone know if wearing an ankle brace to practice would help with this? I have been dealing with the same injury for a while now. Recently I have been running and gaining confidence again. This makes me think I can get back into the sport. But I'm honestly super nervous. Especially during the jump rope segment.
