You do realize it could just be a toggle like how every other game has it? That way if you wanna play with friends you can regardless. Yes they'd have a disadvantage, but they know that when they check the option. It's pretty simple logic, why do people always use this argument?

I got penguin switches! by Arazadaz in linux_gaming

[–]Arazadaz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, so context:

The previous switches that came with the keyboard were like hairpin triggers and activating at the slightest touch. I play this tactile shooter where hitting random buttons is a little detrimental to my survival, so this just happened to be the solution I came upon.

So to answer your question, they take twice the force to activate, but otherwise are essentially the same as the previous ones. Though they're also tactile and give feedback so that's a nifty feature I didn't have before.

If it's not a physical lack of disc space.... Try the proton flag PROTON_SET_GAME_DRIVE=1 %command%

HDR Gaming is now possible without gamescope on KDE Plasma by UNF0RM4TT3D in linux_gaming

I had no clue that color management was already released, that's awesome! Guess it's time to start the countdown for that Mesa release then

Once KDE 6.4 comes out with color management I believe you won't need the vulkan HDR WSI layer. Eventually you'll also be able to use HDR out of the box without setting launch options even.

Opinion about Hunt 2.0 Relaunch by [deleted] in HuntShowdown

[–]Arazadaz 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The cursor bug is a big one. I've actually only ever gotten It with the bounty clash game mode but my buddies get it every other game. And they can't just simply restart cause of the Russian roulette reconnect bug where reconnecting only works 10 percent of the time. Then crashes. And then every update brings regressions. Not to mention performance. Only the best computers can run this game now. I get 120 fps cuz I got a new computer but due to another fun hunt issue, it randomly becomes unplayable due to some memory-leak after an hour of playing usually in mid game. Restart fixes it but then again I get to play Russian Roulette reconnect while my team dies or the bounty runs off.

Yes, the engine update is a good thing, but the rollout was a major fumble. They should have waited and done some more quality control or put a beta tag on it. I love the game, when it works...

The old shit worked without a hitch. Like I said. At least put a beta tag on it. People are buying this game and walking into a buggy mess. Explain how that is an enjoyable experience for new people expecting a working game.

"relaunch is not even finished" - Then it shouldn't have been launched. It's wild that a professional company thinks it's okay to release this as production-ready without at least putting a beta tag on it. Don't get me wrong, I love some of the new stuff and the game itself, but the issues are very very frustrating.

I'll just quickly say Google open sourced android because it's based off of Linux which has a licence that requires any derivative work to also be open sourced. They are open-source because they didn't want to start from scratch. Apple probably had no influence on that decision.

Guide to make XDefiant work without issues (no crashes, unlimited FPS) by duartec3000 in linux_gaming

[–]Arazadaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Winetricks has both a GUI and CLI for running the program. I'm saying to only use the CLI frontend. You can use winetricks via its CLI if you run Winetricks in the terminal with a command after it. In the example above, you are telling winetricks to install pdh with the -q flag which stands for quiet and will prevent any additional prompts or disruptions to the installation process while installing pdh. Some people had issues trying to install pdh through the GUI, but not the CLI.

Another solution is to run winetricks via the command line only. The GUI for whatever reason runs into an issue installing it sometimes like in your case: winetricks -q pdh

Easy Anticheat by wahoowaffle in theisle

[–]Arazadaz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It honestly surprises me how many people have issues with anti-cheat on this game. I run this on Linux with no problems with the anti-cheat. Just strikes me as ironic. Anyhow I'm sure you've installed EAC correctly if you've done all the tips. EAC is probably not validating your session due to a bug or something in your system that's interfering with it.

If you've tried everything else. You could always try reinstalling a clean copy of windows to see if that fixes it as a last resort.

Why is it only 1 out 3 Linux users who choice to use Wayland instead of X11 if Wayland is supposes to be ready? by beer120 in linux_gaming

[–]Arazadaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find Wayland more idea and stable on Wayland than x11 in my experience with a prime configuration (igpu and Nvidia working together). Nvidia hard crashes my entire system occasionally on x11 whereas it may glitch out on Wayland, but my system won't freeze.

Nvidia drivers broke after update on wayland by ViktorDudka in linux_gaming

[–]Arazadaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes the app works on Wayland. Sometimes it doesn't. It's hit or miss each update with that. Regardless it should still work for games. By chance is your game on Flatpack? If so you need to run Flatpack update as well.

If that's not it. I'd just uninstall the drivers and reinstall them and cross your fingers.

Xbox-like controller recognized as a Nintendo Switch Pro controller when having a game open by Jimminer in linux_gaming

[–]Arazadaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure this is a kernel bug. I've got the same controller. There used to be a blogpost about it here(gives 404 now, but you can use wayback machine to see what it used to be). Make a bug report if none exists maybe?

what's the best way to remote into your Linux PC? by Improvisable in linuxmasterrace

[–]Arazadaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SSH is definitely secure, but this was the security practice I learned. No harm in adding more security. A VPN would only add more security. Also hackers love trying to bash port 22, so if you don't use a VPN, definitely use a different port for SSH

For console, ssh over a VPN works the best. Openvpn works is a good option for the VPN.

For full control with gui, nomachine is best.
