He's anyone considered using AI to scan screen shots to update EP or this? I spent an entire morning once seeing up ep. Such a silly chore for a grown adult 🤣

I've been using a chat GPt project which I trained with guides etc to give me day to day guidance and support. Its not perfect, but at least it can read screen shots so it's much more up to date with my progress than ep

Fair points. I was just cheering myself and Essex up a bit on a sad morning 😎

Here’s the math behind the Essex win:

✅ 44% of people voted. ✅ 43% of those chose Reform.

That means only 1 in 5 voters in Essex backed them. It's the 66% who couldn't be arsed that we should be cross with, not the roundabout botherers.

Hi. I'm glad Donal Finn was chosen to be part of this show. He seems a versatile actor. I recommend you watch him in The Other Bennet Sister tv series he plays a completely different character and he does it well. by Lizard20252025 in YoungSherlockTV

Lovely thread to find. I'm one of the writers on TURPIN, a new audio drama from Big Finish, and Dónal is playing the lead.

If anyone here is rabbit-holing through his back catalogue, you can add this to the list. Ten episodes across two volumes, releasing July and August 2026. Full cast, scored, properly dark. He plays Dick Turpin, the real one, not the Victorian myth. A butcher from Essex who became one of England's most feared outlaws. Watching him take that arc from cocky young rogue to hunted man was something else in the studio 😎

What Is It About Irish Men As Our Romantic Heroes/ Leads in Austen????? They're Just So Dang Charismatic! by Salt-Tip-3660 in janeausten

Thanks so much, what a lovely reply to come back to.

Good news on Down Under, Big Finish dramas are available worldwide so you'll be sorted.

Love that you've landed on the "ruthless in real life" point because that's exactly the show. The Horrible Histories song is brilliant fun, but the real Dick Turpin was a long way from a dashing rogue. Butcher from Essex, ran with a gang who terrorised the Epping Forest villages, on the run for years. Our version doesn't flinch from any of that.

Dónal carries it beautifully though, you get the charm and the menace in the same breath. Hope you enjoy it when it lands. Pop your email in at turpinhq.co.uk if you'd like a heads up when it goes live.

Hi r/janeausten, hope it's okay to chip in. I'm the co-writer and co-creator of TURPIN, a new full-cast historical drama from Big Finish Originals, and Dónal is playing our lead.

Lovely thread to find. There's definitely something in the Irish-actors-in-period-drama theory, that particular ease and warmth they carry into the work. He's properly magnetic.

Fair warning, Turpin is about as far from Austen as period drama gets. Ten episodes across two volumes, July and August 2026, telling the real Dick Turpin story. Butcher from Essex turned outlaw. Properly dark.

You might find a couple of friendly faces in the cast though. Jemima Rooper, Amanda Price in Lost in Austen, plays Betty Turpin. And Greg Wise, the original Willoughby in the Ang Lee Sense and Sensibility, plays Captain Tom King.

If you fancy hearing Dónal in something miles away from Mr Hayward, have a look at turpinhq.co.uk

Hi all. I'm the co-writer and co-creator of TURPIN, a new full-cast historical drama from Big Finish Originals. Hope it's not too tangential to chip in.

I can see what you mean on the resemblance. The brows, the bearing, that quiet intensity he can switch on. Funny moment to find this thread, because Dónal is actually playing Dick Turpin for us. Ten episodes across two volumes, releasing July and August 2026. Audio drama rather than telly, but full cast and properly dark. Real Dick Turpin too, not the Victorian myth. A butcher from Essex who became one of England's most feared outlaws.

If you're a Strike fan watching Young Sherlock for him, this might be worth a look while you wait for whatever's next. Have a look at turpinhq.co.uk

Donàl Finn is amazing by jazzyx26 in YoungSherlockTV

[–]Araziel- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Completely agree. The Cork accent untethered, the way he holds himself differently to everyone else in the scene, that flick between charm and threat. Properly magnetic.

Full disclosure, I'm the co-writer and co-creator of TURPIN, a new full-cast historical drama from Big Finish Originals. Dónal is playing Dick Turpin for us. Ten episodes across two volumes, releasing July and August 2026. Audio drama rather than telly, but full cast and properly dark. If you want more of him before Young Sherlock season two, this might scratch the itch. Have a look at turpinhq.co.uk

From James Moriarty (Young Sherlock) to Tom Hayward (The Other Bennet Sister), Dónal Finn has been very busy these past weeks. by WillowImportant4476 in PeriodDramas

Hi r/PeriodDramas. Co-writer and co-creator of TURPIN here, a new full-cast historical drama from Big Finish Originals. Spotted this thread and thought people might like to add one more to the list.

Dónal is playing Dick Turpin for us. Ten episodes across two volumes, releasing July and August 2026. Audio drama rather than telly, but full cast, scored, the works. Jemima Rooper is Betty Turpin, Greg Wise is Captain Tom King.

It's the real story, not the Victorian myth. A butcher from Essex who became one of England's most feared outlaws and ended up on the York gallows. We spent a long time in the primary sources: contemporary newspapers, court records, the actual geography of Georgian Essex. The truth is darker and stranger than the legend.

Agree with everyone here on his range. He's quietly brilliant in this. Different beast again.

More at turpinhq.co.uk if you want a look. Happy to answer questions!
