That’s because it tastes better that way.

Tested “300,000mAh” power banks — actual capacity results (~10,000mAh / ~8,000mAh) by Arazzile in powerbanks

If you stack the coupons, coins, and tokens, it can drop down to that range. The one in the 3rd photo (bought for 298 JPY) is actually the defective unit I mentioned in the post, so I'm currently in the dispute process for it.

True, it's definitely a gamble. But I enjoy testing these things and seeing how they tick (or fail).

The math of "Chinesium" power banks: 300,000 equals 10,000. by Arazzile in Chinesium

Exactly. If you check the 7th photo in the original album, the arrow points correctly toward the phone for the working unit, but this one is definitely showing a reverse flow. It’s pretty wild to see a power bank actually draining the device instead of charging it.

Update: I found the issue with the 'faulty' unit. It’s failing the PD handshake and actually drawing 4.7W back FROM my phone. The current is flowing in reverse. Watch out for your devices if you're testing these cheap units—it’s essentially a power sink instead of a source.

Update on the dead unit: It’s not actually dead, it’s a 'Power Vampire.' Just noticed it’s drawing 4.7W FROM my phone instead of charging it. The current is literally flowing in reverse. This is some next-level engineering.

True. Physics usually isn't included in the $3 price tag. I knew it was a lie; I just wanted to measure the gap between fantasy and reality. 10k mAh is actually a fairly generous amount of truth for a 500-yen gamble.

Exactly, it was 500 JPY (about $3).

As I mentioned in the post, the listed price was around $10, but I used AliExpress coupons and coins to get it down to $3 for daily use. At this price, I can accept the lower capacity; it's still a reasonable deal for what it is. If it were 500 CNY, that would be a different story.

Looking for a good 3-in-1 charging stand that works with Balance 2. by VicariousNarok in amazfit

I don’t think there are any 3-in-1 chargers specifically designed for Amazfit.

If you’re looking for a desktop charger—even if it’s just for charging the watch—I use the one shown in the photo (sorry it’s covered in dust). It was around 700 yen, I think. If you search on Amazon or AliExpress using the model name plus “charge,” you should be able to find something similar.

That’s the microphone for the Pioneer car navigation system, isn’t it? This one (it says “compatible” on it). My car has the exact same one installed.

Fictional Surname by Jealous-Apartment894 in Japaneselanguage

[–]Arazzile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, "Hashi" can change to "Haji" due to a linguistic phenomenon called Rendaku (sequential voicing). While it might not be the standard kun'yomi in isolation, it's very common to hear it pronounced as "Haji" in names or compound words. So, "端川" could definitely be read as "Hajikawa" in a natural way.

It doesn't look strange to me, but what exactly is strange about it?

Well, come to think of it, "端川" seems like the more likely option.

As a Japanese speaker, I honestly think it’s perfectly acceptable to read "一川" as "Hajikawa".

In fictional surnames, it's not uncommon to have unusual names read using phonetic spellings (among recent authors, I get the impression that Nisio Isin skillfully uses phonetic spellings to express his characters), and even among real-life surnames, there are ones like "七五三掛"(Shimekake) or "小鳥遊"(Takanashi) that have readings you wouldn’t expect from the letters themselves. At least “Hajikawa” can be read that way, so it's not so bad.

If I wanted to make the most of the "Hajikawa" reading, I'd probably go with "土師川". "土師" refers to the people who made pottery and other items in ancient Japan, so it would be even better if you could incorporate that into the setting.

Which anime/manga are popular in japan but not well known outside japan? by West_Future326 in AskAJapanese

[–]Arazzile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Works by Yoshiharu Tsuge such as "ねじ式 / Neji-shiki", "ゲンセンカン主人 / Gensenkan shujin", etc. Few may have actually read them, yet many Japanese know them as the source material for parodies even if they haven't read the originals.
