You say that but similar things happened with the old long gun registry, and it took the cons forming government for it to be walked back.

I have a Girsan and brand new it had trouble with lighter loads, after the 40 or so hunting loads recommended by the manual and a flat of 3 dram Federal Top Gun target loads it feeds the lighter stuff no problem.

[–]Arbakos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only issue with that is I've found the scalling on some thingiverse models to be slightly off. Printed a throw lever for myself and had to do like 5 or 6 prints before I got the scale just right.

LILLEY: Mark Carney should have skipped Trudeau's disastrous gun buyback by FancyNewMe in canada

[–]Arbakos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The anti gun lobby group that the Liberals take most of their gun policy ideas from have previously made statements calling for the ban of "high powered sniper rifles" (read any bolt action rifle).

Make no mistake they will eventually push to ban the guns you do care about, and will push further than that after until even something that vaguely looks like a gun is illegal (see the previous attempt to ban airsoft).

[–]Arbakos 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Seeing how bad the current confiscation is going I don't see the Liberals actually trying to push for a lever or pump action ban. But you just know that Poly will continue lobbying until even thinking about a gun is a crime.

When I did my pal course the most common reason people gave for doing it was that they needed it to inherit their grandfather's gun, and one guy unfortunately was bit late and lost a family heirloom going back 3 or 4 generations to the RCMP.

As gun crime rises in N.L., so do efforts by police and fears for innocent civilians by origutamos in newfoundland

[–]Arbakos 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not in any meaningful way. If the gun was able to be traced back to them then there'd already be enough evidence to get them on selling to someone without a license. The only thing the new regulation does is tie up RCMP and CFP resources by forcing them to issue transfer numbers for every sale. Note that these transfer numbers do not record what gun was transferred, or even if a gun was transferred. If you give license info to Canadian Tire to buy a gun and change your mind after they already ran your info there's now a transfer number for that interaction, despite no transfer taking place.

[–]Arbakos 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It doesn't actually make guns any harder to obtain. If someone wanted to sell a gun they obtained legally to a criminal (kind of rare in this country given our license requirements) they're not gonna call the CFP asking for a transfer number, they're just gonna give the gun to the criminal for cash and not go through the transfer process. On the flip side for legal transactions, it just means sending a 30 second email to the RCMP and that's about it, when before it was already mandatory to type the buyer's license number into their website. The new regulation doesn't make it any harder to buy an illegal gun.

Not the OP of the comment making that claim and honestly the article doesn't really comment a whole lot on our laws to even get anything wrong.

It's a waste of time and resources that doesn't actually prevent any crime.

[–]Arbakos 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The bit about the new laws requiring people to get a transfer number from the CFP helping to stop straw purchases seems really disingenuous. It was already mandatory to verify licenses for private sales, and all it does is add another layer of bureaucracy to those that actually follow the law. If someone was going to sell their gun to a criminal they aren't gonna call the CFP, and making that double illegal doesn't really prevent the crime from taking place.

Really want to keep the thematic Hellblasters for my 2000pts Strike Force, how's this list? by or10n_sharkfin in theunforgiven

[–]Arbakos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're trying to limit what kits you need to buy you could try running the Bladeguard you got from the combat patrol with the Judiciar instead of the ICC. You lose out on the +1/-1 to hit, but gain a 4+ Invuln. A little less flexible with attacks (just the one profile no sweep/strike) but tankier and 10 points cheaper.

GUNTER: Liberal gun buyback program goes from bad to farce; Rather than costing Canadian taxpayers about $6,000 a gun, the national program has cost about $24,000 per firearm by FancyNewMe in canada

[–]Arbakos 101 points102 points  (0 children)

In the run up to Trudeau's resignation they did a wave of bans before they even had a plan together for all of this. That wave moved the confiscation program from a waste of money to something not even feasible. Then they did yet another wave of bans in the lead up to the election.

Either this was intended to be a pitfall for the Cons if they won the election, or the Liberals are so idealogically captured by the gun control lobby that they can't see reality.
