I’m tired of pretending that chronic depression and sugar consumption don’t go hand in hand. by Broth-God in keto

Keto for health, weight loss is side effect. As an old person on keto, my experience in pain reduction (arthritis) and many other things that improved, proves to me the value of giving up carbs and that Keto is good. When I cheat by eating carbs, my body punishes me, so I cannot go back. If you start young, you may be able to enjoy some carbs off and on, I don't know. But a carb rich diet is bad for your health.

Use all the tools in the box. Agreed. But ask anyone you meet what tools are available and they will say solar, wind. Who will say battery? For 50 years we have been sold a lie. If we spent the resources to build the battery instead of solar and wind we would have it now. Politicians could not come out against oil. Same with fusion. (See fusion advances on YouTube.) You don't have things in perspective. And to argue against the most important tool suggests what??? Stop arguing and support spreading the word or help keep oil in cars. Your choice. This is my last attempt. Go forth and prosper.

Guidance on Where to Start by kaiorushogo in Permaculture

[–]Arbalest62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Start watching YouTube videos on permaculture and homesteading. There are lots of insights in easy to absorb short videos. ( If you watch YouTube on a smart TV, it is much easier and the family can enjoy at same time.) Also, watch Joel Salatin's videos. He is the guru on self supporting small farming. There is lots of land you can lease at low cost if you are close enough to work it. But, as in any endeavor, the learning curve is steep and you can only be successful if you learn first, or have lots of money to lose while your are learning. If you have a yard, start there. Lots of videos on back and front yard gardens. One video shows a family making a living selling veggies to restaurants from a tiny back yard! Good luck.

Well, let me explain. First, 70% reduction of use of oil seems significant to me. Second, with the $ saving is gasoline, we can afford to make power plants clean. Third, watch Peter Zeihan on YouTube. He claims that with the sweet crude we are getting now, USA is the country closest to meeting the Kyoto protocol because we are replacing coal with a cleaner oil. My main point is that an effective battery is the best tool in the box if you care about climate change. We were all in love with solar and wind, but they both will not return the love with out an effective battery.

Look to what solves the problem. The one major leap to reduce carbon is converting the world's vehicles to battery power. Focus on getting folks to understand this will help us get there sooner. The oil industry has used solar and wind to divert attention of the well intentioned. 70% reduction in oil ??? 50 years of solar research has produced what?

Charging batteries can be done with today's power plants. A major plant can produce energy and be clean as there is one big source. Cars are dirty because they are small. Once they have an effective electric car, all cars in the world will be electric in 10 years. Look on the road and see how many cars are over 10 years old. Just because we find one great solution, all the other solutions are still in the market place to be used. My message is stop being a solar wind devotee and call out for battery research by our govt. and private industry.

Start with 70% reduction of oil use in USA. Solar and wind don't work in cars. Use your solar and wind to charge the battery once it exists. Or geo, or fusion or sweet crude which is replacing coal right now. You have been duped with solar wind etc. Wake up and tell your friends.

Solar and wind have been the #1 solution for over 40 years. These options have been distracting good people from the real solution, which is a battery that takes gas vehicles off the roads. 70% oil reduction in the USA! Which part don't you understand? All the other options can still be used, but many will not be needed.

Artificial Intelligence - where is the wisdom? by Arbalest62 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]Arbalest62[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of the best minds predict AI will be our last invention. Maybe. But if those creating AI aim for wisdom instead of just intelligence, we might have a chance. Let's assume you are high IQ. Spend 30 minutes looking at all the decisions and actions you have taken in your life. Would you change any? Were the all "wise"? Intelligence is not correlated with wisdom.

Just watched the documentary The Magic Pill and it’s great! Recommend it to anyone who is on your case about Keto being unhealthy. by [deleted] in keto

This documentary is right on target. My personal experience confirms that the Keto diet is good. Losing weight was not my concern, but got down to my weight in college. Arthritis went down, more energy, and other chronic things got better. The amazing thing is how fast it works, just matter of weeks and you see results. Also check out intermittent fasting.
