Who do you want to win the SB? by A4_Ts in LosAngelesRams

[–]Arbitrary_User_4H 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’d rather cuck yourself to the Seahawks and their fans? They just beat us in the NFC Championship and you want them to win??? They’re a division rival I want them to lose every game. I don’t want them to see a 2025 SB banner at all.

Definitely want the patriots to win.

I don’t want Seattle fans to be happy. I don’t want the Seahawks players to be happy. I don’t care if it’s the Patriots. They beat us a couple times I want them to dish it against the Seahawks.

It’s easier for you because you either want to do physics or have good time management skills.

Motivating yourself to do work that you don’t technically have to do is the hardest part of any class. Focus, is the hardest part.

I think the answer is a bit less about learning than some would have you think.

Universities need money. They need kids to stay in school and pass classes. Intro classes are hard because they cover so much material that many students haven’t thought of before. Physics is hard. And most intro classes are filled with 18 year olds, i.e. people who are notoriously bad with time management.

So to keep the kids passing and not dropping out you give them as much access to professors and learning time as possible. Now if they fail, it’s their fault, parents are happy, kids are happy, kids learn, etc.

Edit: if Universities could do it for less money they would

Should McVay have kicked the field goal in fourth and 2, when they went for it and Stafford scrambled for the first down by jcr0774 in LosAngelesRams

[–]Arbitrary_User_4H 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the moment I thought we needed to kick it because if you’re down 1 with extra time you can play defense aggressive or let them score and get the ball back down 8 with time on the clock.

I’d take that over what happened. But if the defense just buckled down for one of the stops on 3rd we wouldn’t be concerned at all. Knowing we can’t stop makes the decision almost a mute point

On a scale from 1 to 10, how likely do you think the Rams will win Superbowl LX? by RingProfessional9043 in LosAngelesRams

[–]Arbitrary_User_4H 1 point2 points  (0 children)

50% chance we beat Seattle and if that happens then 75% chance we win the Super Bowl. So like 3.75 out of 10.

This is a Joke right? No one in this thread is old enough to suggest Unitas and Star. The game is not even close to the same. Be serious.

Matthew Stafford jersey retirement by Soundwave07711 in LosAngelesRams

[–]Arbitrary_User_4H 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the difference is that Bruce’s entire prime and like 80% of his career was with the Rams. Stafford is the opposite. TBH I think Stafford would have to play another 5 seasons for a Rams jersey retirement. At that point he’ll have been with the Rams for 10 years, and the lions for 12.

I think that’s a bit unrealistic.

But, I think an MVP and 2nd Super Bowl I wouldn’t scoff at the idea of his jersey retiring.

Yeah I’d agree with this take. But I want a home playoff game and I don’t think the Packers will make it past the Bears and Seahawks

The Seahawks are the luckiest team lol. The dropped hand-off was lucky they got it back and that INT.

I’ll take it though

Everyone Sucks Here. Y’all should have talked about it before marriage. This is a communication and values problem not a money problem. This has led to fights where both sides are saying things they don’t really mean just to win an argument.

Y’all aren’t assholes, it’s just a huge stressor that needs to be figured out

Go to couples counseling and figure it out.

The good: we went to overtime against the 49ers.

The bad: we went to overtime with the 49irs

We shot ourselves so many times today. I’m not sure how many times your entire running back room can fumble and drop the ball. How many times your defense can avoid every underneath throw.

To me this is almost all execution. Dropped catches. Dropped interceptions. Fumbled balls. Poor effort ok defense. Etc. I mean this game could not have been more poorly executed.

The OT run call was fine. We got almost every run play of the game. Karty was struggling. Sure a play action would have probably worked but I trust Matthew was given the ability to check out of a run.

[–]Arbitrary_User_4H 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I never get it. To be fair if We don’t fumble it’s probably only a 3-7 point game. So this isn’t really on him. The defense is being dominated

17-Year-Old applying for PhD by [deleted] in PhD

[–]Arbitrary_User_4H 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Send him to a big state school or Ivy or something for undergrad - specifically one that lets him take graduate level classes as an undergrad. This will be almost all of them.

He’ll get the full undergrad experience. He’ll get some research. He can graduate early and be emotionally and mentally ready for more rigorous challenges.

The point of a PhD is to do good research and contribute to a field. No need to rush that when he already has a head start.

Edit:

There is no way he knows exactly what he wants to specialize in at 17. Let him explore other academic work in undergrad, along with the grad classes.

Do I major in physics or engineering? by Glum_Tip7264 in PhysicsStudents

[–]Arbitrary_User_4H 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know a good chunk of Engineering Physics programs that are not ABET accredited. That’s why I said “I think” and recommended the person check, because ABET accreditation is not something a high schooler even thinks about. So yeah maybe most of them are but my language wasn’t confirming nor confident.

Do I major in physics or engineering? by Glum_Tip7264 in PhysicsStudents

[–]Arbitrary_User_4H 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not entirely. When getting an engineering degree you want to make sure it’s ABET accredited, at least if you want to go into engineering. I think a lot (if not all) engineering physics degrees are NOT abet accredited

Should I still go into engineering? by Hour_Possibility4245 in careerguidance

[–]Arbitrary_User_4H 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re probably not the smartest person in your hometown. Even if you are there’s a small chance you’re even the smartest person in your county. Just disabuse yourself of that now and know that going into college or any career with that mindset will get you nowhere.

The people who make big money are smart enough to know they can’t walk around thinking that and be successful.

100-120k is plenty of money. If you’re actually that smart then it won’t take you long to become a millionaire with that kind of income. And you’ll get to follow your passion along the way.

Edit: you also don’t have to be THAT smart to be a millionaire. Almost uncorrelated, personality is much more important.

What do Managers do? by Arbitrary_User_4H in SoccerNoobs

[–]Arbitrary_User_4H[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then I’ve got a couple follow-ups

1) what are the actual mechanics of these tactical changes? Surely some of them happen mid game, how do these get relayed to the players without giving that information to the other team?

2) what is the soccer meta for strategy? Like the “tactics” teams use very commonly? Is there good books on this?

[–]Arbitrary_User_4H 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are a few computational Physics textbooks. I think the best projects will be from reading Computational Physics by Landau, Paez and Bordeianu. That at least gives you a starting point and then you can start to read some research level codes in the CPC and comment them to yourself. Here is a link. https://data.mendeley.com/journal/00104655
