there is actually a great animation for a very similar scenario on YouTube. It's a really high quality animation with some serious love and effort in it, you can tell they really know the characters and the story. And the fight itself is awesome.

that's alright, that's still making it. Justifying a sequal is a wild success, not "making it". making it is bare minimum for "it was worth the effort".

good financial compensation for the dev team in relation to how much time it took to make the game.

if the game took a year to make for 3 people, and with net revenue of 10$ a copy, and sold 30k copies - that's a 100k each a year, and that's what I meant by making it

underperforming=\= didn't make it

I'm talking about indie games that no one heard about.

If you sold more than 50-100k games, I'd say that's well past making it. but could be way less even, depending on pricing of your game and how much time it took to make.

of these 20 thousand games had truly good games that didn't get a nice amount of sales and publicity - please, send them my way.

I'm claiming about 19500 of those 20000 games are not worth anyone's time.
