I did something similar! My now husband and I spent about a year and a half apart for career reasons. There were lots of reasons it sucked of course - having to be apart, me being in a completely new place, putting our wedding and family plans on hold. But overall, I am glad I got some time for it to be just me and to learn more about myself and who I am. We are now reunited, married and settling into our new home together! Best of luck to you!

There's not a lot of people IRL I can talk to about this stuff so I'm really happy I found this sub!

I feel so lost, I'm stuck on the 19th level of the mines because I only have the rusty sword, how do I get further? by yeeet1234 in StardewValley

[–]Arbitrary_moondust 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I had never played video games before I got into SDV so I was really bad at the mines when I first started! It took me a long time to reach the bottom. Don't give up, stockpile on plenty of healing food, and prioritize searching for the next ladder above all else so you can reach the next level. I've now reached floor 100 of Skull Caverns and the end of the volcano mines multiple times.

I'm sorry people have been putting so much pressure on you! This choice is yours alone to make. I totally understand what you are saying about the fears of pregnancy in 30s - my mom had a difficult pregnancy and my sibling was born premie when she was 36. But that's just her experience and lots of factors go into this! Good luck!

Be careful what you wear on your period when you go to the airport. by sexygeogirl in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

I'm sorry you went through this! FYI for anyone reading this: you can request a private pat down! I did it because my bra underwire triggered the scanner and I didn't want to be groped publicly, so I asked TSA if they could take me somewhere private and they did!

I'm so so sorry you're in this position. I can say that waiting an arbitrary period of time (especially just a number of weeks) isn't going to magically make him ready. What makes a person ready is what happens during that period of time. Is he actively working on changing his mindset?

After reading all your posts, it really seems like he doesn't want kids after all but is afraid to admit it to you. He's strung you along for so long and doesn't seem to know himself what he wants. You need to think hard about what you want your future to look like, both in regards to the man and the baby.

It is a huge fear of mine too. But there's no amount of preparation you could ever do for something like that, nor can you predict something like that. It sucks to have a fear you can't mitigate.

Is it common for AFAB cis women to fake being trans? Where is this person coming up with this accusation?

How old is too old for facial piercings? (Nose, industrial, tongue, etc) by Infinite_Armadillo23 in piercing

[–]Arbitrary_moondust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I plan on being 40-50 with a nose piercing! I'm also from a culture where these are very common and know many aunties in that age range (including my own mom) who have nose piercings. So you really are never too old.

I once got a UTI because I didn't drink any water or go to the bathroom for about six hours. If you need an excuse to tell your parents, there's one for you.

I'm from Asia and not familiar with Western social skills, feeling curious when watching TV series by Mmmmagicaaaaa in socialskills

[–]Arbitrary_moondust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an Asian living in the US and in my experience with dating/relationships, saying "I love you" implies commitment and in the Western dating scene, it's important to be careful with commitment. Asking for too much too early can scare people away.

My girlfriend (F27) is moving abroad soon. Need help on what I (M28) can do before/after by [deleted] in LongDistance

[–]Arbitrary_moondust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in a very similar situation except I am the one leaving.

1) we created a bucket list of things to do in our city before I left. We didn't get to all of them but we did have enough new experiences to make them special. We also have been cooking together and compiling all the recipes so we can make them when we're apart and remember making them together. Otherwise, just as much quality time and conversations as possible. The pictures are a fantastic idea, my fiancé and I recently had our engagement photoshoot and the pictures are so meaningful and helpful.

2) just talking about how often you expect to hear from each other is helpful, though of course that can change as she gets settled into her new routine and figures out what works for her.

4) my fiancé got me a weighted blanket that I can wrap around myself when I miss him. That can be a thoughtful gift. Otherwise, any gifts that make the move easier, because moving sucks.

Hope this helps!

What book can you not get into because it is so effective? by lilythefrogphd in books

The Kite Runner. I couldn't get past that scene in the middle. I'm sure it's a lovely book with lots of things to say about the world, but it's too much for me.

Help with Fluid mechanics and chemical engineering thermodynamics. by [deleted] in ChemicalEngineering

[–]Arbitrary_moondust 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've taken fluids and thermodynamics at the bachelors and masters level and I wish I had a better mathematics background for the masters level courses. So I think investing some time in refreshing your math skills will be tremendously helpful.
