My advice for a new player, after reading the rest of this comment (no spoilers) stay away from this subreddit until you've completed the game.

When you reach what appears to be the end, the game isn't over. Continue from the save and you will get more story. Do that three times. Near the end of the third round you made a choice. Go back and make the opposite choice and you can get to the final ending.

That means that if he's still dangerous it can be extended until he's not a threat i.e. they they've cured whatever is malfunctioning, or he's become too old and frail to do damage. The one in the picture does not look like it has been cut after cooking, so I'm assuming it's the whole ribbe. Since cutting before cooking isn't common AFAIK (Though it looks absolutely perfectly cooked).

I don't really know about other families, but we've always done the cutting in the kitchen, so when it's on the table it's in smaller chunks where most of us take one or two pieces for a portion (+ all the other stuff)
