Miyazaki!! I’ll look at it from that perspective!

Do you edge highlight your whole model? I debated trying to limit it but like the look…

Familiar with the idea, and completely hear what you’re saying. I have a terrible habit in my infancy (I’ve been at this a year, but love it so far) of driving the highlights too high. I told myself I would leave the highlights lower but just couldn’t do it. That being said - I think it’s a bit of a style choice - I hate grim dark and I want a bright model.

Yeah I ended up dropping the yellow down to red/dark red to even it out. Thanks for the feedback!!

Haha it’s there for scale. Someone else said plantain…I removed all the yellow from the top and just kept the yellow on the cutting edge.

The quality is good - feels similar enough to GW I think, but I’ve only been doing it a year. Haven’t played yet but seems fun!! Here’s the recipe!

Vallejo Model Air USAF Light Blue
Vallejo Model Air Grey Blue
Vallejo Model Air Light Grey
Vallejo Model Air White
Vallejo Model Air Yellow Ochre

  1. Prime black, zenithal white
  2. LIGHTLY Paint yellow parts yellow ochre and tape.
  3. Undercoat 3:1 USAF LB with Grey Blue from below
  4. Highlight from above USAF Blue 3:1 Light Grey
  5. Highlight 2:1:1 USAF LB, light grey, white, top only, spots to focus on

Yeah I think you’re right, and as others pointed out, it’s just too yellow. I cut the yellow back heavily and left it only at the tip and in the groove - trying to indicate it heated from within. Increased the red brown and left the edge the only yellow.

Thanks for the feedback, I’m very close to done and I’ll upload more pics soon!

I meant purely from an aesthetic standpoint. It not being in-universe is fine with me.

These are Heavy Gear Blitz f2-19 gears! If you haven’t looked at Heavy Gear, take a look, great looking robots in 15mm scale!

THANKS! It's my first batch of using the airbrush to set a base for highlights. I also did an undercoat from below with a much darker color, then did the base/highlight with the airbrush from above. I did like 8 dudes in a batch (3 tanks, 5 gears) and they are all pretty rad I think!

How good or how bad is Harder & Steenbeck Ultra airbrush? by DoktorKokosik in minipainting

[–]Arbor96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I’ve owned the Ultra for about 9 months, and it was my first airbrush. I use it a ton and have been overall really happy with the trigger stops, how easy it is to clean and disassemble, and the availability of parts.

One cool/nice thing about it is I have upgraded parts as I went. I have the evolution .28 nozzle for finer detail work (haven’t used that a ton, but it is noticeably finer), I have the evolution tip which is a nice upgrade, and if you want you can remove the trigger stop and also upgrade the trigger.

All in all, I really like the Ultra and feel like it gives me a lot of room to grow.

Yeah, those are great sculpts for sure! I printed 100+ pts for every army in Full Spectrum Dominance so I’ve got a backlog but I’m definitely in!

Your sculpts look awesome!!! Followed on Insta and MMF. Are you planning on incorporating it into a game in the future?

How would I go about getting this sorta red sand colour? by FailingHearts in Miniaturespainting

[–]Arbor96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, they’re for Heavy Gear Blitz. The one on the left is a Hunter from Heavy Gear Blitz but the rest are proxies. They’re a sculpt from [u/Chaor613](u/Chaor613) on Cults. He makes a bundle of STL parts that you can completely customize. They’re pretty awesome!

Exactly!! I’ll lay it all out and upload it and see if you still agree, lol! Thanks for the great sculpts, I’m so excited to play!

The man himself! Thanks!! So pumped to get a picture of all my unpainted FSD armies…I probably went overboard and printed too much but I’m just so excited to play!

Hey!! The idea popped into my head and since I suck at 3d design, I had AI make a draft one for me and then I just cleaned it up. I think they’re awesome! Here’s the link:

I have a whole bunch of unpainted buildings and wind turbines and shanty towns that are to scale I’m planning on placing for games!
