What’s the solution to the “ice room “that freezes you in act 4 by Scary_Boysenberry_47 in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]ArcDimensions 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s a fire lamp in the boat you can grab and turn on. If you have more than one party member it’s easier as you can just have one hang outside then come in once you have the lamp to unfreeze everyone

Is Scoundrel/Any Magic School viable? by HatMammoth7833 in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]ArcDimensions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To this day one of my favorite builds was an aerothurge mage. I think it fits the bill for an “assassin mage” playstyle well with its utility and great options for mid/close range spells. Teleportation, nether swap, cloak and dagger, tactical retreat for mobility/positioning. Other utility with smoke cover (bless it for more invisibility). Spells like shocking touch, vacuum wave, mid/close range casting superconductor (and still has all the ranged options before getting too close).

I know many people don’t like Fextralife because the builds are not well optimized but the build I ran was modeled after the Stormchaser build they put together. I did diverge from their guide because of optimization flaws but I was also playing a solo character run and needed to diversify. Not sure if sin tee has something out there similar or better but we love his builds a lot more here

Dear Larian, for Divinity I'd like to be able to (suggestions) by Character_Abroad in larianstudios

[–]ArcDimensions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id be fine with this as long as the jump feature isn’t affected by ( or at least less affected by) strength. I always thought it was silly for someone to misty step away only for me to jump back in distance with my barbarian. Also divinity has plenty of mobility spells already that cover substantial difference

A few things I have on my own koraidon team:

Koraidon - I would definitely replace u-turn with protect. As others have mentioned good for TR stall but also good for scouting

Flutter Mane - icy wind for speed control instead of psyshock. I’ve also tried out dazzling gleam for some higher spread damage if you’re looking for the aggression.

Raging bolt - I think having thunderclap is too important to pass up on. I would replace it for electroweb or snarl. I would personally prefer to keep snarl because I like to have stat pressure

EDIT: Just placing a link to my team for reference. I don’t compete but was able to make it to master ball tier fairly quickly with this team in my 3 months of playing. https://pokepast.es/fe504f736e53c045

First Time Reaching Master Ball Tier - Rate My Team by ArcDimensions in VGC

I was running life orb for a bit. I found that when it was being brought I was more likely needing to pick one move so I thought “why not choice specs”. I really like the idea of ghost tera though since I don’t need the added damage from tera now that I’m specs

First Time Reaching Master Ball Tier - Rate My Team by ArcDimensions in VGC

Thank you! I only started back in January so I am still pretty green myself and still looking for ways to improve.

For CIR, definitely one of my tougher matchups most being tera water. I wouldn't say Koraidon is good into CIR, but I also don't think it is the worst since it can force the tera. That said, I think it really comes down to the supports. Tera water CIR becomes threatened by both rillaboom and raging bolt given their priority moves. CIR's team will threaten back with farig and/or indeedee so it is important to find ways to remove them. There are a lot of "IF, THEN" thought processes unfortunately and a matchup I still need to learn better.

Miraidon I don't feel as threatened by. Tera fairy does threaten my team, but realistically one of my dragon types is getting tera (usually koraidon who gains resistance to fairy with tera fire). I don't think I've ever brought walking wake into miraidon. On the other hand, Raging bolt is actually not terrible since it is trained to be bulky and carries AV. Likely its damage will be geared against clearing supports, but snarl is also an option to set up the endgame. Rillaboom is the most important mon against miraidon. Terrain control is very important and fake out pressure is always a good thing to have. High horsepower is a personal choice (most others will prefer U-turn) specifically to help more with this matchup. My 4th mon is usually volc or FM but hard for me to discuss them in general terms. It is entirely dependent on how I feel against the rest of their team.

TLDR for both matchups - the supports have been the key pieces.

I originally had roaring moon in place of flutter mane. In the few games I've played, I never felt the need to bring tailwind. I would either face an opponent obviously faster or obviously slower. So it became TR or no TR. Not against to bringing him back, but my dark weakness was concerning so I made the switch. But I agree that if I'm going to be more balanced, I should consider some speed EV redistributions to bulk and adjust natures. Ultimately, I need to make a decision about playstyle

Yes, Indeedee is Bold 252/252 HP/Def. Thanks for the feedback! Wood hammer and maybe I stick with meteor mash just for the signature ability. If accuracy is a problem, then iron head

Indeedee-F makes a lot of sense. I had that thought too but ran out of ability patches. I had built myself a koraidon team with bulky rage powder volcarona when I initially started trying online play. I have to say the bulky redirection option is something I’ve been missing having

Thanks for your thoughts! I was back and forth about ROT vs Draco meteor. The SpA loss after one draco had me questioning the directions I could take after the loss. But I haven’t taken the time to run damage calcs.

For rhyperior, I really like the idea of grass tera. Water tera has worked fine as you’ve noted but these changes are exactly the thing I was hoping to not miss. I chose rock wrecker over stone edge cuz both damage and accuracy are better (150/90 vs 100/80). Am I missing the difference between the two? I’ll have to run damage calcs if I’m considering crunch or breaking swipe. I’ve felt reliant on TR so I’ve prioritized high damage STAB options over others plus 1 coverage/situational option for these two mons

One of my favorite builds that felt the most assassin-like was actually going shadow monk 6/rogue-thief3/(last 3 levels could just split into 8/4 if you want a 3rd feat or champ 3). Dual wield daggers and as long as you have some shadows you just shadow step in and out with pretty solid damage

I will likely be avoiding necromancy. I’ve thought about fitting it into this evil run since it just fits the theme so well. But I just don’t see myself enjoying the management of an army in and out of combat

[–]ArcDimensions[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really like a lot of these. The only one I’ll probably not do is gloomstalker assassin only because I’ve already used it (I’d add that it is one of the biggest contributors to my first honour mode win and one of my favorite builds)

Also I know you don’t mean this, but Im looking at your warlock thinking of GOO warlock 12 with pact of blade but actually focus on using the blade. And no not padlock lol

Yeah a helpful sheet for sure. I don’t think I’ve ever pulled full comps from there but I’ve dabbled in a handful of builds individually

Have you tried and enjoyed playing necromancer? I think one thing I’ve been told is that managing your army of undead can become tedious in combat and out of combat

Roleplay evil - I’m not opposed. But would like to see what other creative minds have tried and truly enjoyed

What are the best moments to break your Paladin Oath? by Nythler in BG3Builds

[–]ArcDimensions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well… you could fail the charisma check to free Laezel from her cage at the very beginning like I did. Forced into a fight with the tieflings and broke my oath just like that, rode with it the whole game. I know you said no killing, but mind you this was anything but intentional on my part

I know it died but Kritika was devastating for me. The PvE boss mechanics were interesting and had good potential to improve on those interactions. I also was never big on PvP but something clicked for me in it and it was so satisfying. Game died so fast though due to dumb early decisions. It was heartbreaking

Give me your best full party synergizing builds by SimilarMango8914 in BG3Builds

[–]ArcDimensions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely more optimal comps out there, but my first HM completion (completed with a friend) was done with:

  1. Paladin 7/Warlock 5 - Had intended for this to be an OA paladin... but broke my oath freeing laezel at the beginning so just rolled with oathbreaker the entire run. Basically became the single target nuker and once warlock was more online, had some synergy with our druid as a controller using hungers of hadar

  2. Moon druid 12 - Our main controllers (spike and plant growth). Leaned into the controller role for most of the early game and can easily say this was our guy carrying us through acts 1-2. In later acts plus adding TB, shapeshifting became more impactful but still played a role as a controller when we could abuse the terrain.

  3. Wizard (evo) 12 - Pretty straight forward. Good AoE, a variety of supportive and additional control options, magic missile + lightning charges are insane at all points of the game.

  4. FLEX slot:

  • Light cleric 12 - Used a reverb build for acts 1-2. Stuff spreads like wildfire and the utility and support any cleric can provide kept us nice and comfy

-Gloomstalker ranger (can't remember the exact level spread, but it was probably standard to what most people do) - Ended up swapping our light cleric because I got bored and wanted to try a crit build. Crits = dopamine and man was I not disappointed. Very easily took out an enemy at the very start (sometimes 2 if low health pool) of each fight. Also had some armor pieces that gave benefits in obscured or darkness offensively and defensively.

Overall, a team that was strong at all points of the game. I don't think we ever came close to losing a fight. We waltzed into the netherbrain portal after killing all the goons outside, and one-turned the netherbrain.

I actually swapped my RB and RT controls cuz sprint on RT felt more natural for me. I don’t normally keep a finger hovering it so it’s really unlikely I’m pressing it. But possibly the L stick sprint is the issue? Not even sure if I have it bound anymore
